Instead of buying a license for a game for $70 you subscribe to a rental service that gives you access to 500 games for $10/month.
Or, instead of buying a $500 console or a $800 PC you just buy a $60 controller and you stream those games running on “the cloud” (=someone else’s console) for $15/month
Problem is that the service is provided by Microsoft at a loss and when they’ll get enough critical mass, they’ll enshittify it.
The economic proposition is good, but I think it’s just to teach gamers that “you’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy”
I don’t really have a reason that I haven’t, but I keep thinking about it more and more. Especially after seeing Bobby Lee interview the creator. That was pretty cool
I’m occasionally playing Fantasy Life i, but mostly played Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s DLC. I think I liked it more than the original game, although it could not exist without it.
I started Claire Obscur: Expedition 33. I really like the setting, presentation and aesthetics. I’m not entirely sold on the real-time defensive mechanics in combat, I think they remove more than they add, but I do really like how each character has their own unique gimmick, which is something that’s sorely lacking in JRPGs.
I used to play off and on. It was fun, but I didn’t do current raids or craft, so after finishing the MSQ, I’d just level alts and chase mounts/skins until i got bored and quit. I also work evenings and was active late at night, so it was difficult to find groups for things. I played on Zalera.
The first few levels of Pirate’s Life are fantastic imo. Especially that first one when you’re going through the cave and listening to the voiceover… I got chills when I first played it. It was just really fun for me and I can’t really explain why. I liked how they got the original voices to record some new lines for the quest/level too.
And I really like the “DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES” guy.
The Deus Ex games are all great (YMMV with Invisible War tho). I’m currently going through the Dishonored series and at least the first one should be fairly nice on the SteamDeck battery, but that might be one imm-sim too many 😆
As an aside: how do you find using the SteamDeck while flying? I also have to do such long flights to go to my home country but for me the SteamDeck is just really uncomfortable after about 45 minutes of use.
I’ve never played it because it just seems like Harvest Moon, which I played as a kid. Sure, maybe it’s refined the concept, but I already married my harvest boo when I was 12 years old. How could I dare to be unfaithful to her?
