Look into snapRAID. It does parity based data protection (up to 6 I believe). It’s free, opensource. I use it to run a nightly sync and scrub of ~3% of my total disk space, so in a month it scrubs everything to protect against bit rot. It then shoots me a nightly email with any errors or issues it detects. There is a learning curve, but I’m happy to provide some basic scripts for you to get it running in Windows. You can also run it on top of pooling solution such as Drivepool.

I’ll look into this. I appreciate it. Probably down the road ill set up True NAS or set up some sort of thing with ZFS but have to kinda get more acquainted with all the programs and stuff associated with their use.

I’ve been playing a shitload of Valorant. It hits the sweet spot for me between FPS and MOBA. I hadn’t played a tactical shooter before but I’m warning up to it. I still prefer Halo-style battle arena games but this is fun.

Speaking of Halo-like games: I am still playing splitgate even though the game is dead. It’s some of the most fun I have ever had while playing a game with friends.

VonReposti, do piracy w Can anyone recommend a VPN that has working port forwarding?

IveI’ve recently moved to AirVPN and can confirm that port forwarding works nicely. Their UX is terrible, though, but the service so far seems good.

datavoid,

I ended up giving AirVPN a shot - seems like the best option I think. Easy to get openvpn or wireguard set up, and it works great with qbit. Having 5 ports is awesome, have 2 on each of my PCs and one on my phone.

My only issue is I can’t seem to get the port forwarding working with Nicotine+, for some reason it just won’t open the port like qbittorrent does. Downloading works fine, I just doubt anyone can see what I’m sharing

sillyhatsonly,

I had trouble using the default port assigned in Nicotine+ too. Try changing the port range to something different if you haven’t already, that’s what got my client working.

Powering through Tears of The Kingdom. Just finished up the last temple I had. Probably going to go hunt down a few more shrines for more hearts.

Last week my launch Switch from 2017 started to kick the bucket, displaying a blue screen. I was able to get it booted back up once randomly, which prompted me to immediately resubscribe to Nintendo Switch Online so I could get cloud back up saves for all my games. After that one session, it went back to doing the blue screen and never booted up properly again. I really hate that cloud saves are being a paid functionality and wish it was a little more gracious like with what Xbox offers.

Fast forward a few days, I picked up an OLED Switch and transferred what was available from cloud data. Thankfully TOTK was there but I was missing a number of games I thought I had back up but we’re missing. Out of all, I think I’m most bummed about missing my Smash save data. Having to unlock all of those characters again now too. Everything else I lost I either completed already or had fallen off. I get why Nintendo doesn’t allow saves on the SD card but that really would have saved me some headache.

I shipped the old Switch off to get fixed by Nintendo, received it today but in the end they did not repair and simply gave me another unit, without my old data :(

hurtn, do piracy w On demand sports streaming?

just get this. all your live TV media problems solved. privateiptvaccess.com

SomeoneElse,

Isn’t that live tv only? No on demand?

ANIMATEK,

I just checked and the basic plan has 19K VODs. Maybe report back if you like it?

SomeoneElse,

I will. If it does work it’ll make a lot of British tennis fans happy!

CeleryFC,

Have you found an answer if it plays sports on demand? Thinking of signing up for this to watch the premier league matches in the US.

SomeoneElse,

No, but I have emailed them to ask. I’ll let you know if I get an answer/try it to see.

CeleryFC,

Thanks man!

SomeoneElse,

Hey! I had no luck finding sports replays on demand from an IPTV. But I did find a work around for this event - ESPN via YouTubeTV. It’s an American service so you need a VPN and US zip code - 11108 worked for me. It has a 21 day free trial and has all the EPSN channels (except plus) live and on demand. It wouldn’t let me sign up with my UK based PayPal, but it happily accepted my UK debit card with the American zip code.

CeleryFC,

What a legend! Follows up 3 weeks later with an answer and a work around solution! Love it! Thanks brother, you deserve all the best in this world.

SomeoneElse,

You’re welcome! I forgot to say, if it helps in future I did find some decent live coverage on IPTV, much better than sky sports and ESPN imo. The Australian channel Stan had a dedicated channel for every court (Stan sports 1-19), commentary on every main draw match and no adverts. It was better than the live sports streaming websites. Have a good one 👍🏼

Octopus1348, do piracy w How to unlock sync premium with Lucky Patcher?

You could try different patch options, but I recommend supporting the developer by actually buying it. If you don’t want to, use a free and open-source client like Voyager.

akincisor,

Yeah, it’s one thing to steal from “The Man” and quite another to steal from an individual developer.

k110111, do piracy w How could I start a torrent site and not get caught?

Okay thats a fun question to answer.

Disclaimer: i don’t know much about piracy and stuff in general but studied computer science so sharing this just for funsies DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE IF YOU ARE SERIOUS!!!

Okay so here it goes:

Buy crypto then use crypto mixers to annonymize it.

Use a webhosting site that accept said crypto.

Use vpn for everything preferably more than one routing from multiple countries like one from west then one from east.

If you can use a vm specifically for everything related to your site to make sure things are contained.

Make sure to not upload from the same id’s as the one you use to create site. Make a user account if you wanna upload anything.

Read up on how other such websites are created to figure out if you are missing something.

ellipse,
@ellipse@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

well good thing you said to not take this advice because it’s not really good.

  1. Don’t use crypto mixers, a lot of them are scams and their usefullness is up to debate -> instead use monero, the actual private crypto that is used throughout darknet.
  2. Don’t use VPNs to be anonymous. VPN are useful for a few things: torrenting, browsing on a public wifi and bypassing georestrictions. they are not useful if you want to be anonymous! To be anonymous, use TOR (or i2p) 3.the VM advice is good. alternatively you could use TailsOS which is more user friendly.
  3. Don’t. Especially if you need to ask how to do it first.
