However, I do not believe SteamOS is going to be the silver bullet people think it is. I’m somewhat of a fanboy of Valve but SteamOS is really only good for a console-like PC experience.
People who want to ditch Windows need to look at Linux as a whole, not just SteamOS.
If people want to ditch Windows then the gaming industry needs to stop gating the community. Either get rid of the shitty anti Linux anticheat or tell them to turn on Linux support naturally. For fucks sake I can’t believe I find out most anticheat just needs a simple email to turn it on for Linux.
I agree entirely. An argument could be made about native Linux releases being too much but most games run with Proton if the devs don’t intentionally cripple it through kernel anticheat or other arbitrary limitations.
Please consider Ghost or Write.as, both are part of the fediverse, support markdown (meaning easy to import content from Lemmy) AND they both support public and paid-for content with ready to use payment gateways.

I have been looking at where and how to back these up, but as I say - I want these to be on Lemmy. I believe so strongly in the FOSS alternatives to social media, I had the worst experiences making Reddit and Discord my choices last year (and previously), but since this year, and only choosing places like Lemmy and Mastodon? It’s been such a stark contrast, and a much more positive experience.

Ghost is what we use (self-hosted) and it supports ActivityPub along side Lemmy (activitypub.ghost.org). I dont believe it yet supports full-article posting, only links, though.
Tank controls truly are divisive. I grew up playing the PS1 RE games and, to me, they are just second nature. I recommended a friend of mine to try them out, and he walked away after a few minutes lol
Have you tried Dino Crisis 2? Of all the tank controls games, it’s the one with the most fluid gameplay. The story is completely bonkers, but the gameplay is so satisfying.

Yeah, now I feel old. Crow Country is a nice little game, very nostalgic for old people like me ;p
I’m slowly making my way through Expedition 33 and loving every minute. I think I might be stuck for a while in a boss, will have to check a guide online.
Silent Hill 2 is such a great remake, I’m glad they decided to release it DRM-free. I played the original back in 2002 with a friend, but we were high as a kite and we were teenagers, so we didn’t really understand the story that well. When I played the remake in October I ended up crying, it’s a fucked up situation.
I spent months watching people play it for the first time on Twitch, quite entertaining and enlightening to see how differently everyone reacted to it. The thing every player had in common was that they started it thinking it was a cool, scary game (which it is) and ended up finding so much more. A masterpiece IMHO.
