MolecularCactus1324,

I remember when it went past $2 because I worked at a gas station at the time and all the patrons were pissed. This was before pay at the pump, so people would come in to the register and pay cash mostly. They would also bitch and moan. Yeah - sorry it isn’t my fault. I was making minimum wage and had my first car. I wasn’t too happy either.

MolecularCactus1324,

I feel the same. The atmosphere is decidedly less doom-like in my view and I’m a little skeptical of these new gameplay mechanics. Riding flying dragons? I’m also not a fan of the way Marty Stratton handled the situation with Mick Gordon, which has damped my goodwill for the studio. I bought Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal on launch. I will not buy this game until it is bargain bin prices.

MolecularCactus1324,

I remember walking in to Toys R Us and seeing N64 on display when it first launched. You could stand in line and wait for your chance to play. I had been too young to really follow or know about the launch, but I thought the 3D graphics looked incredible. Initially I had thought it was some hyped up version of Super Mario RPG because that was the most “3D” looking Mario game that had existed to date.

MolecularCactus1324,

I have my issues with Nintendo recycling Mario Kart ad nauseam, but Mario Kart was $66 when it launched in 1996, which is like $130 today. The prices haven’t really kept up with inflation. It’s cheaper to buy Mario Kart today than it was back then.

MolecularCactus1324,

This is true for me. I did not buy a ps5, but instead a PC. There are no games on ps5 that I want to play that I cannot play on PC.

MolecularCactus1324,

Yeah, the hardest thing is really going to be GTA6. The reason I bought a PS4 was GTA5. Needing to wait 2 years to play GTA6 on PC will be a tough thing to swing.

MolecularCactus1324,

HL3 needs to advance the Half-Life story. Alyx advanced the story about 2 minutes from HL2 because it was a side-story.

MolecularCactus1324,

I managed to scoop one up for $100.

MolecularCactus1324,

I played it last year. It was certainly interesting, though it showed me the challenges of VR games. Before, I always hated the idea of using the teleport feature because it seems cheesy. However, after several tries without it, I can say it’s necessary. You end up feeling very nauseous otherwise. But, as a player you’re just way less capable than non-VR games. You can’t move around as easily and so you can’t take on as many enemies or maneuver as easily around the map. In most encounters with enemies, you can only fight a max of maybe 3, before you start to feel overwhelmed. Even 1 is usually enough to feel stressed and when those saw drones fly at you, you’ll panic and possibly yank a cable or get disoriented and bump into something in the real world. Crouching behind cover and shooting is pretty cool though — possibly the most immersive part.

MolecularCactus1324,

You’re able to tolerate moving around without teleport? I have a pretty strong stomach and never get sick on boats or planes, but that just completely fucks me up. I can tolerate it for about 20 minutes, but after that I’m ready to hurl. With teleport I could play for an hour or more.

MolecularCactus1324,

Point 2 is the biggest for me. I haven’t played more than 30 minutes of gta5 online. Single player story is where it’s at. Wish we got more DLC.

MolecularCactus1324,

I already never intend to play it. I only care about single player. Hopefully this means the game is cheaper.

MolecularCactus1324,

They can try, but it might not work. GTA VI has been in development for like more than a decade and will probably have loads of content. I could see $100 being justified. But not every other AAA game would be the same. Most wouldn’t in fact.

That said, video games have been $50-60 for the last 25 years. If they’d kept up with inflation, they’d be close to $110. So, I get it.
