Looks like steam machine to me.

nivenkos, do games w What are the best indie games you've ever played?

Shadow Empire without a doubt. Practically a one-man team, and yet a better logistics and supply system than any other game out there.

nivenkos, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

Shadow Empire - best strategy game I’ve ever played.

machinaeZER0, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

I’m thinking about picking up a Persona, but haven’t decided where to start. Haven’t played one before but I’ve heard great things!

DrPop,

All the games are unique to themselves so you can start with any of them. I’d suggest 4 Golden personally.

machinaeZER0,

I was eyeing it - the price is very tempting, hahah. Any tips for a beginner?

DrPop,

You can best the dungeons in a single run if you set up right. It’s tough in the beginning but I’d you want to do everything you have to minimize the number of days you right in the dungeon.

Disco Elysium. Best writing and storytelling I’ve ever played.

Agreed 1000%. That game is phenomenal. It has made me laugh so hard I ended up crying, well and sometimes I was just crying. An emotional roller coaster, superb writing.

My husband was playing it and I thought the game looked terrible, but he kept saying I really should play it, and I can’t put into words how fucking happy I am that I chose to try it. Can’t believe I almost missed out on it. Truly a masterpiece.

Visuals are great too. A blending of a noir movie, a psychedelic trip and an abstrac painting. A rare beast.

caut_R, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

Hidden Through Time 2 and Monument Valley 2. Just small games where I liked the first game, I‘m still far from done with my Xmas purchases so no need to go harder for me.

Hotline Miami. Would appreciate recommendations of similiar games.

JustARegularNerd, do gaming w Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of March 17th

So I have been getting bored of Minecraft but felt like having a twist on my own new single player survival world.

So last week I started out in Minecraft 1.5.2, which was the version I started playing on, and I intend to slowly upgrade the world, along the way collecting mobs, blocks, items and world generation not possible in later versions (dubbed Discontinued Items).

My latest endeavour was actually switching to the 2013 April Fools version, Minecraft 2.0, and obtaining things like enchanted signs, creating setups for floating blocks (ladders, torches, floating sand/gravel, etc.), things that will survive the upgrade to 1.6.

Jedi Fallen Order! It’s a great game and only like £3.50 in the sale. Might also pick up Kingdom Come Deliverance and Mafia Definitive Edition since they’re both under £10

Gabu,

Personally, I’d say it’s a fair price at £3.50, but not worth more than that. Fallen Order should’ve been called “climbing simulator” instead, as that’s what you spend half of the game doing.

snazzles,

I honestly really enjoyed it but maybe I had the difficulty set hard enough that I was instead spending most of my time fighting. Tbf I also enjoyed the tomb raider trilogy which was mostly climbing puzzles

tighthead_lock, do games w What are the best indie games you've ever played?

Off the top of my head:

  • Against the Storm - I find the loop of those first 30-40 minutes of city building very satisfying.
  • Ultimate General Series - I love the land battles, it scratches that gun powder Total War itch.
  • Mount & Blade Series - Playing the Viking Conquest expansion while watching or listening to the Last Kingdom (Saxon Stories) might be one of my favourite gaming memories.
  • Sea of Stars - Reminds me of Golden Sun. And the soundtrack is just fantastic.
smeg, do gaming w There is Only One Level Left to be Beaten in Super Mario Maker 1

Nintendo announces all online functionality will cease for 3ds and Wii U titles in early April (specifically April 8th 2024)

Oh shit, I didn’t realise this deadline was so close! Should I be firing Mario Maker up now and downloading every level I can while I have the chance? Though I think I stopped playing it when I realised most of the levels were just words being spelled out in blocks with no actual gameplay…

AlphaOmega, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

I picked up Solasta. Pretty decent, but awfully linear with no real RPG choices. Worth $8

nivenkos,

It’s more of a tactics game than an RPG really.

Like D&D X-COM.

other_cat,
@other_cat@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve never been so interested, so fast, as when you combined those two names.

nivenkos,

It’s good, but I wish it were even more like X-COM with loads of deaths and managing a roster of heroes rather than just a small party.

Especially since BG3 has done the small party adventure thing so well.

davidgro, do games w What are the best indie games you've ever played?

Since I don’t see it yet…

Super Hexagon

It’s one of the simplest games possible, the controls are “clockwise” and “counterclockwise”, and there are no distracting characters, setting, or story.

And yet the easiest level is – quite accurately – labeled as difficulty “Hard”. The next 5 levels (6 total) go way up in difficulty (and labelling) from there.

Each level lasts 60 seconds. If you can survive that long. I’ve never unlocked the final level myself, so I don’t even know what it is like, but I can guess.

FippleStone,

Great game, and Chipzel did such a good job on the soundtrack

tomkatt, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

Have a ton of games already, but I picked up Nuclear Blaze and Streets of Rogue on the cheap.

A week prior to the steam sale, got a good deal on River City Girls 2 and Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries on Fanatical, $15 for both together.

Voroxpete,

Streets of Rogue is amazing, especially with friends. Absolutely bonkers game.

WereCat, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

I’ve bought Witch Spring R to play on Steam Deck while I do memory OC and testing on my PC
