leaky_shower_thought,

The boss is quite in touch of how modders work.

Thomas the tank engine better be in there.

leaky_shower_thought,

those always online “single-player” games aren’t what you think.

your ads and tracking friends are always interested in playing with you.

leaky_shower_thought,

Would games that ride on to their ancestor’s titles count?

It’s reasonable to not expect final-for-real-fantasy <N> to not be the same as final-for-real-fantasy <N-1>. But since it is marketed this way, is it the norm to expect great things?

Games that don’t explicitly use numbers can be considered in this scheme too. Example: A game called “Barcraft: Burps and Germans: Oktoberfest” would count.

leaky_shower_thought,

fate/ stay night and other visual novels fit this category. steins gate is also a notable one.

somnium files have a lighter version in terms of gravity of decisions.

you can kill people in morrowind and oblivion.

a good bethesda-like game that comes to mind is kingdom come: deliverance

leaky_shower_thought,

I agree the consequences can be baffling, but sometimes it can be straight up funny overblown too.

I think the inspiration to this is the butterfly effect and how the main’s decision can cause (huge) side effects but somewhat not to what he wanted.

leaky_shower_thought,

speaking of blowing minds, there’s that quest about witches in the forest.

I thought I’d be fighting with super natural and magic but it became another magical thing altogether.

leaky_shower_thought,

I feel publishers are doing small stabs at originals while doing full milk-yo-wallet efforts with remakes/remasters. Pretty conservative approach, imo.

leaky_shower_thought,

I feel I need to turn a crank. It feels tedious at first, but it gives me some power to make scrap metal.

leaky_shower_thought,

faedine.com/games/crank/

so far web browser only.

leaky_shower_thought,

to add to this great suggestion, I usually tell myself it’s okay that my first game is a blind run and I can always adjust/ change course the more I go into the lore.

Some games are worth a second run and it will show.

leaky_shower_thought,

cookie clicker, that chromium dino game. I think I also did dark room at some point.
that pokemon browser game. There’s also a taiko game out there. (haven’t checked lately)

What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending? angielski

The thought came to mind after reading a recent post about Baldurs Gate 3 here but it reminded me of the Japense only PSX game Mizzurna Falls where if you don’t perform a certain action early in the game you are prevented from getting a true ending. While this might not be a traditional soft lock because you can still progress...

leaky_shower_thought,

this one reminds me of Farcry 4. The one with Pagan Min.

if you just stay and be a good boy, you get a free trip to where you really wanted to go.

It’s easy to not do this because maybe the welcoming committee is not around anybody’s standards.
