Stormyfemme, do gaming w Anyone else remember those giant scale maps that used to be in shooters? e.g. bathroom, kitchen, office, backyard, that made you feel so tiny?

Elite Force 2 Quarterdeck was fun.

NightOwl, do games w Are almost all mobile games bad?

After trying bunch of Android games I found Nintendo DS games that can be entirely played with a stylus have been the best games to emulate and play on mobile.

Edit: Kirby Mass Attack is great and felt like a native experience.

Some others that might be worth trying.

Just to chime in here a bit regarding the Index:

The headset itself is fine, meaning if you have the room setup done you can play games no problem (assuming the games play nice with Proton, most do but I’ve seen a few hiccups here and there).

What is not fine is SteamVR. If you are unlucky the App will not really work with your PC out of the box, in which case you’ll have to play around to get it working, switching to and from Beta branches.

Only real problems exist with the Lighthouses, you’ll need a Script to put those into and out of Standby mode and updating their Firmware via Bluetooth does not work.

ZapBeebz_, do games w Are almost all mobile games bad?

There are a few hidden gems (I enjoy Plague inc. and Rebel inc. on occasion, for example), but for the most part, the majority of mobile games are mtx-laden cash grabs. So the actual quality is commensurately low because the devs figured out they don’t have to put in real effort to implement gambling and hook addicts.

Steeltooth493, do gaming w Any good online multiplayer that are discountes on steam?

Titanfall 2 is on sale for $4.50, and it has an excellent singleplayer campaign. You can tell em papa Scorch sent ya.

darling, (edited ) do gaming w Stray really disappointed me. I want a real cat game.

I’d been following the game’s development for years because I loved the idea of an open world where you’re a cat exploring Kowloon walled city, and was a little disappointed that it went in another direction. I did end up loving the game and I get that it became more, but I would have really loved something that simple. Like, I don’t need to save the world but I do specifically want to play as a cat in Kowloon walled city, you know?

Cattails is the closest I know.

This sounds amazing. One mode you can be a cat stuck in a house with 3 other cats that don’t get along. You have to try to drop a deuce without getting attacked, you have to mark territory without making your “owner” upset about peeing in the house.

Melpomene, do gaming w Many of my (paid) mobile games became "unsupported"

You can try loading the Aurora Store, setting it to spoof a different device. I'm not sure if it'll work, but its a no cost test.

There are also some G8 LineageOS ports which (if applicable) would upgrade you to Android 11. That's a lot of effort for a few games though.

Although it features foxes rather than cats, Endling: Extinction is Forever ticks a lot of your boxes.

For something less survivally you could try Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered.

Not what you describe, but perhaps Cats and the Other Lives would catch your fancy?

Yes, update android.

Toribor, do gaming w Modern Pokemon games hold your hand too much.
@Toribor@corndog.uk avatar

Gamefreak clearly isn’t interested in evolving their formula very much. Each game is designed to be approachable for young children who are potentially playing Pokemon for the first time. So yeah, there is a lot of hand holding.

I’ve found myself hoping the same thing though, that maybe the franchise would grow up with me, but it doesn’t look like it is going to happen. I expect that we’ll have to mash the A button through the Pokemon catching tutorial until the end of time.

reksas, do gaming w are there small sized mmorpg's?

Project gorgon might be worth a look, its pretty good relatively small mmorpg
