“It Takes Two”, check it out.

reluctantpornaccount,

I also recommend this game as one of the best co-op / split screen games I’ve played.

jmdatcs,

My wife and I loved that.

Stillhart, do gaming w so do you think the rumors are true about Heroes of the Storm?

For the sake of those who love the game, I hope it’s true. Personally, I doubt it, but who knows…

It honestly made my night to see Neil Newbon win the best performance for Baldurs Gate 3. With him talking about how he pretty much gave up on acting and went through some pretty rough times and discrimination before getting into voice acting, it’s amazing to see him finally be seen.

And let’s be clear, he wasn’t just a voice actor in BG3! He had to mocap as well as read his lines. His likeness was captured in Astarion perfectly. He was a full actor here and did an incredible job. Best performance was well deserved.

Oatsinator,

Ben Starr was my personal pick, as he poured his everything into the role and has continued to do so on social media. He’s so incredibly proud to represent such a character. All of the nominated performances this year were spectacular and it was a very hard choice

iheartneopets,

I just wish they have the man enough time to give a proper speech!! He was barely half a minute through his thank yous before they were shooing him off stage. It was so disrespectful. Let him have his moment, this is a huge deal. It’s not like he was rambling on.

All that just to make room for more fortnite ads. Disgraceful.

thedirtyknapkin,

i mean, least year they had the opposite problem. this was likely just over-compensation

iheartneopets,

I hope you’re right.

bob_lemon,

I didn’t know who he is out which character he voiced, but my immediate thought upon reading was “he’s gotta be Astarion”. Phenomenal performance.

Overzeetop, do gaming w Two games free on Epic Games - GigaBash and Predecessor

At this point, I think my pavlov-like reaction to Thursdays and grabbing the free games is the game now. I know full well I’ll never play these games.

rautapekoni,

319 games in my Epic library, of which I’ve bought 4 or 5. In total I’ve played maybe 20 and finished about 6. I’m sure I’ll get to it one of these days…

0x4F50,

I think the only one I’ve cracked open from Epic is Control. Awesome game I would highly recommend.

Sharpiemarker,

If that’s all you’ve played from the free Epic giveaways, you’re missing out!

Subnautica
Fallout New Vegas
Enter the Gungeon
Breathedge
Dying Light
Dishonored
Sable
Bioshock: The Collection
Borderlands 3
The vanishing of Ethan Carter
Prey
2064: Read-Only Memories (not everyone’s cup, but it’s unique and the soundtrack has some bangers)
Metro 2033/Last Light
20XX Elite Dangerous
Hitman

to name a few

0x4F50,

I’ve had less free time in the last few years than I would have liked, but you’re absolutely right. The last couple years have had some awesome titles given out for free.

Sharpiemarker,

I’ve had less free time in the last few years than I would have liked

You’ll get no judgement from me, friend. Besides, being a patient gamer means cheap or free games to play.

Overzeetop,

Yeah, it’s high on my list. Along with a half dozen other AAAs from the last decade. I think Cyberpunk is next on my list, though there’s a Fallout languishing on my Deck I keep meaning to go back to.

0x4F50,

I just picked up Cyberpunk, Jedi Survivor, and a few others on Steam’s Cyber Monday sale. Cyberpunk 2077 like playing a movie. It is incredible. I’m trying to finish up BG3 before I start into it, but it’s difficult not to

If you have two displays for you PC and are willing to do a bit of fiddling, I think you can set up split screen two player stardew valley which is a great chill game

DmMacniel, do gaming w so do you think the rumors are true about Heroes of the Storm?

That would be pretty cool for those who cling to Heroes of the Storm. It has a solid foundation and is a nice refresh on the same old formula.

It takes two is the obvious suggestion, and I’d personally also recommend vampire survivors

cosmoscoffee, do games w Recommend a game for me to play with my partner

what about Yoshi’s Crafted World? easy gameplay, cute aesthetics and good co-op

bionicjoey, do games w Recommend a game for me to play with my partner

The biggest hit for us has been Baba is You because it is slow paced, and combines words and logic and spatial reasoning. Our biggest problem was that its not actually coop, so we would just alternate who played, which can disengage the other person. My partner also thought its aesthetic is cute.

Portal 2 might be fun. It has a co-op mode and is similarly a puzzle game where you need to work out the logic of each level and then sequence your actions in the correct order.

Try out It takes two

reluctantpornaccount, do games w Recommend a game for me to play with my partner

Sounds a bit like my partner, who doesn’t like most action games. For a game you could play together, I think you could try a “creature collector” type game, like pokemon. There are actually a lot of creature collectors, pokemon is just the most popular, but there are cheap digital games on the switch store that are made by Pokemon fans and from what I can tell are better in a lot of ways.

You can also emulate all of the old console games for free, that’s what my partner did for a bunch of Pokemon titles.

This is the first time I read about those prizes and oh my I can only see big titles, which sucks because there are smaller titles which deserve places in these rankings much more than some of these shit triple A games

BG3 winning the GotY was something we all could see coming I think and even though it’s not my personal pick I’m hard pressed to argue. It’s a great game, it opened up many in the mainstream to a new genre and Larian is a great company with consumer-friendly policies. It’s hard to be mad.

I’m very glad Alan Wake 2 got a couple of awards, though. Hopefully this recognition means Remedy keeps pushing the boundaries and keeps going with their crazy mixed media and weirdness. We need someone doing innovation in the AAA space.

I am a little pissed they lost out on best music to FFXVI though.

sigmaklimgrindset,

FFXVI’s soundtrack is pretty great tho, especially the tracks for the Eikon fights. NGL I would have honestly gone insane playing that game if not for the soundtrack and (less so) the combat. The story makes no fucking sense.

I’m more salty that people are saying AW2 didn’t deserve Best Game Direction, because I think it absolutely did. Alan Wake’s plot and the vision they went for would have been absolute nonsense in the hands of any other studio.

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

I just love what Remedy did for the music, and I’m not just talking about Poets of the Fall. Having a bunch of established artists write original music based on a bunch of story related poems written by Sam Lake was such a cool idea and makes the end-of-chapter songs land so well. But the competition was tough, for sure.

I haven’t heard those comments about Game Direction but I can’t understand that at all. The direction is absolutely first class, from the tension-release work to the cinematic shots and framings to the double-exposure overlaps and the reality rewriting and dream logic of the Dark Place. It was a masterpiece in my opinion.
