garretble, do games w Star Wars Outlaws - Review Thread
@garretble@lemmy.world avatar

I was able to get this for half off via some weird QVC deal (I don’t know if it still exists), so it’s sounding like $35 or whatever is currently a good price for an average game.

I’m sure I can get some fun out of it.

IchNichtenLichten, do games w What are some game series you would like to see revived? And if possible, which entry should the new game follow from?
@IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world avatar

Just give me a new Deus Ex game please.

ramble81,

Glad I wasn’t the first one to suggest it. It’d be so much better if they finish it off and provide the missing gap to the original game.

Klear,

Cyberpunk scratched that itch for me to a surprising degree. It’s not a perfect match, but it felt closer to the original than the sequels did somehow.

IchNichtenLichten,
@IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world avatar

Given how well that game sold, it’s even more baffling that we don’t seem to be getting another Deus Ex. Don’t they like money or something?

Klear,

They do like money. That’s why they made two shitty prequels.

AceQuorthon,

Yes please, one close to the original <3

I’d love to see Monkey Island revived as a more open-world style game on the order of Fallout.

MajorHavoc,

As someone who missed Monkey Island the first time around, I would be very down for a FFVII style remaster.

I want to go back and play it, but I worry the controls on the classic will be too much of a drag for me to get through it.

bouh, do games w Recommendation engine: Downvote any game you've heard of before

Nexus: the Jupiter incident. It is a now a bit old tactical space combat game with a big focus on the narrative. It’s awesome, but I never see it mentioned anywhere.

daddy32,

Ha, “bit old” indeed.

Adderbox76,

God how badly do I want to see a remaster/remake. So under rated. With a bit more fleshing out (It’s a pretty short, pretty linear experience) it could easily compete with the mechanics in Homeworld.

Paradachshund, do games w Recommendation engine: Downvote any game you've heard of before

This one isn’t super new, but Druidstone. It’s a story based tactics game with some RPG elements and it’s just excellently done. I’ve never heard anyone else mention it and I think more people should know about it.

SandLight,

It was pretty good, but I got stuck on an annoying mission and dropped it. Really wish that dev had just made grimrock 3, but I respect not wanting to do the same thing over and over…

Reach,
Paradachshund,

Thanks for doing what I didn’t have time to!

Also available on GOG for those who prefer.

I mean, I don’t think it ever really became a series, but I’d love to see a modern remastering of The Suffering

Earthbound. Even an official western release of Mother 3 would be nice.

TootSweet, do games w What are some game series you would like to see revived? And if possible, which entry should the new game follow from?

Here’s a rather wacky one: Star Tropics. A sequel to Zoda’s Revenge would just blow my mind.

son_named_bort,

I would like to see what Star Tropics would look like in 3D. It’s been 30 years since Zoda’s Revenge, I think we’re due for a new game.

Outrun. The last one we had, Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, was fucking awesome. I literally bought that for every system they released it on. It’s one of my most played games.

I’d absolutely love a new Outrun in that same vein. There’s been a few half decent clones over the years, but none match both the gameplay, proper branching paths and overall vibes.

SEGA has long since stopped selling it because they no longer have the Ferrari license for the cars. But as a car guy, I’ve easily got dozens of suggestions what to replace them with. Ferrari’s are nice… but I’d also love an Outrun with Lamborghini, Porsche or a whole pack of Japanese cars like NSX, AE86, RX7, Miata…

Klear,

You might enjoy this video if you haven’t seen it. Ross is awesome.

Speaking of Ross being awesome, I have to plug this initiative.

FinishingDutch,
@FinishingDutch@lemmy.world avatar

I am aware of that excellent video, yes. And indeed I’ve played literally every game he shows there. I really like some of them, but none have that charm that actual Outrun has.

lepinkainen,

Outrun with shadow multiplayer. You could see other players on the same road, but without crashing into them.

StarCraft. I never played Legacy of the Void campaign and I was told the ending was bad. Would be nice to have a StarCraft III though

tomi000, do games w It genuinely upsets me that Valve spent their time and resources on another Dota variation

Why does this billion dollar company not do exaxtly what I expect them to😡 They made great games because those are the ones I like and now they make shitty games because I dont like them.

Geth,

I percieve them as different to your run of the mill EA or Ubisoft, so I expect more from them. That’s on me I guess. I’m not angry though, just disappointed.

ABCDE,

Have they released bad games?

Kecessa, (edited )

There’s been a bunch of Counter Strike releases that got very negative receptions

Is Artifact still active at all?

ABCDE,

Can’t see bad reviews for any of those from critics.

Kecessa,
ABCDE,

Artifact has good scores from critics, as does CS2, nothing from Zombies. Not sure one game from 20 years ago says much when it’s just 1.6 with bots. The game isn’t bad, people just expected more than that.

Kecessa,

And why is critics’ opinion more important than the opinion of the actual players?

ABCDE,

Because, as I said, it is the same game with bots on top. The game isn’t suddenly bad because of that, so look at reviews of 1.6 instead of cherry picking convenient information. Artifact was review bombed, which I also mentioned.

Kecessa,

You’re also cherry picking only critics reviews and ignoring the majority of people playing and actually paying for the games.

ABCDE,

Again (third time), it was review bombed. Steam reviews, if you actually look at them, are generally positive, except for people who “played” it for 0.1 - 0.3 hours, or over 100 and jokingly clicked to not recommend. CS was 1.6, and thus obviously not a bad game.

zzx,

Artifact yeah

ABCDE,

www.metacritic.com/game/artifact/

Critic reviews aren’t bad at all. People review bombed it though.

I’d had this game on my wishlist for quite a while, and I also picked it up during this sale. Among rhythm games that aren’t based around specific peripherals, i find this one of the most tight, well-playing ones, and I’d encourage anyone with even a little interest to check out the demo.

Panda,

I agree! And I love all the accessibility options. There are so many ways to customise it. The songs are good as well!
