GregorGizeh,

without having read any comments i bet 99% of them are people telling you that you shouldnt give your daughter girly games even if it is she who wants them.

GregorGizeh,

They didn’t add exciting exploration in the first place so it makes sense they would drop the pretense

GregorGizeh,

Stellaris also has recently received a subscription model, so if you want to just dip your toes it might be a lot cheaper for you to buy a month and get all possible dlc content for the game automatically (during that period).

GregorGizeh,

They added an option to subscribe instead. Pay a monthly fee, get access to any and all dlc.

I dont love their monetization model either but I understand the need for financial return on the investment of continued development.

GregorGizeh,

I noticed you license your comments here, do you really think that stops llm scrapers? I have more or less resigned to the fact that anything I write or post here is in the public domain and on the internet essentially forever.

(Help) Name of (sandbox?) game set on space? (Found: Starsector) angielski

So I usually browse the internet at random and sometimes stumble upon some interesting games. Today as I was going to sleep however, I remember I saw a game that I cannot for the life of me find the name again. Not even in my search history (as I regularly wipe those). Can anyone help me find it again? Here is what I know:...

GregorGizeh,

A space sandbox that is some years old is space engineers, though I suspect that’s not it

GregorGizeh,

This reads like AI SEO. So much repetitiveness to stretch a two sentence bit into an article

GregorGizeh,

Wasn’t she originally tupacs girl or something? And basically chose and treated will as second choice from the beginning

How about starting a challenge #VoiceLikeAGirl to put on the other shoe in gaming? angielski

Inspired by a discussion I had elsewhere and the article “Women in Games swaps male and female voices to highlight harassment in gaming”, how about we start a voice modulation challenge where you have to play at least one online game with a voice modulator to sound like a girl?...

GregorGizeh,

Yeah that sounds totally reasonable and unintrusive, wtf. I don’t want my every word spoken in voice to be live analyzed by ai to see if I did a wrongthink.

Why not simply mute or kick if someone is being an asshole? Has served me well in all my years using discord or teamspeak.

GregorGizeh,

I completely understand the sentiment of protecting children, but at the same time under that argument you can push the most dystopian and intrusive, overreaching legislature imaginable. It is the old balance of freedom versus safety, we can’t have complete safety without giving up all freedom.

And I think a constant ai driven monitoring of everything people say in the general vicinity of a microphone is very dystopian; which would be the eventual outcome of this.

GregorGizeh,

You don’t need to repeat yourself (and neither, be this condescending), I am well aware that this is happening to some degree already. Doesn’t mean I have to happily concede the little that is left.

GregorGizeh,

Right back at ya buddy. I’m not putting words in your mouth.

And no matter how often times you repeat it, my discord call doesn’t constitute a threat to public safety.

GregorGizeh,

New director starting with “building on the successful launch of starfield,…” doesn’t inspire confidence. Neither did kotick though so let’s just see what happens

GregorGizeh,

Is it EDC if it’s just today’s carry?

Warcraft 2 / Starcraft type games ( or clones, or engine recreations )

Im missing a lot of charm that w2 and first starcraft games had, and i did not see any open engine recreations, nor clones that lived to this day. With warcraft 3 i only ever finished half of the game, by the time sc2 came out, i was already too old to even bother trying.

GregorGizeh,

Just so you know, StarCraft 2 is free to play now, including the terran campaign. It even has a more relaxed co-op vs ai mode with a lot of replay value for the people who can’t put up 300 apm any more in competitive play.

GregorGizeh,

Yeah that one is also fantastic. It’s called StarCraft: Mass Recall and is also completely free

GregorGizeh,

Westwood studios. Command and conquer tiberian sun was my very first computer game, which I loved dearly (and still have on my computer since it’s freeware now and has been fan patched for modern systems)

Well and then came EA.

GregorGizeh,

Yup, it’s Freeware since a few years now and has even spawned a brilliant standalone mod using its engine. Here is the link:

www.moddb.com/mods/tiberian-sun-client/

And if you want to check out the mod I mentioned, it’s called twisted insurrection. It delivers on many things that were lacking in the original, and has an extensive OST with some pieces by frank klepacki himself (made a lot of the music used in the original series). You can check out some trailers on YouTube. Mod Link:

GregorGizeh,

It’s not even a valid excuse any more at this point. People can get vaccinated at their leisure against the current variants no problem, and other fat old dudes don’t get to bail on an uncomfortable situation either, this is just special treatment for the rich. Also all the accommodations that are already being made with everyone wearing masks. Also I’m sure they can open a fucking window or so for some fresh air

GregorGizeh,

It’s a court of law. People appear in person to ensure they are who they are, their answers are theirs and they fully own them, they aren’t being coerced or manipulated, and so on. FaceTimeing in from the bathroom at his home isn’t cutting it.

GregorGizeh,

Ah yes, more monopolization please. That sure worked out great every time we tried it

GregorGizeh,

Seems to work reasonably well for them considering they have been in gaming much longer than Microsoft.

GregorGizeh,

I agree that we should appreciate well made games. But those are already beloved all around and praised at every turn, I don’t know how the people could be more supportive.

Think BG3, think Elden Ring. Even CP77, after a very rough release, is in a pretty good state now and about to receive a dlc + update that delivers many things originally promised; allowing the developer to recuperate a lot of the lost good will with the customers.

The point is, people still love good games. Just that starfield is pretty mediocre. Not a bad game by any means, but it feels like a lot of compromises, loading screens and reused assets.

GregorGizeh, (edited )

I should preface this by saying that I am extremely underwhelmed with starfield, but I’ve been going back to playing space engineers for my sci fi exploration cravings. Everything i was looking forward to in starfield seems to be compromise after compromise, tied together by loading screens. And the setting looks good on paper but really can’t draw me in.

At least in SE, outdated and poorly optimized as it may be, I am loading into the map once and then could fly from earth to the most remote planet without a single interruption (except real life sleep maybe, because it would take literal hours to make the trip without a jump drive).
