RandomLegend, w What's the best way to get German content?
@RandomLegend@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

scenenzbs

houseofusenet

Rykzon,

scenenzbs is great, also has many files with English+German audio, marked as DL or dual language.

RandomLegend,
@RandomLegend@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I literally wouldn’t pirate anything if it weren’t for scenenzbs (and houseofusenet because they sync their nzb over to scene for the API-Users).

They have everything i want in german and top quality. Never ever have i had such a complete german collection of movies and shows and audiobooks. My wife and i are into audiobooks and they have 99% of the stuff we want.

For everything else i download the .aax file from audibile with another 30 day test account and grab my activation bits to convert to .aac^^

Floete,

So I need a usenet provider (news hosting seems good?) to enter into the download-client (nzbget recommended?) and an indexer (scenenzbs) to enter into prowlarr and I’m good to go? I don’t need a VPN for usenet, right?

Rykzon,

Yes, sometimes it might help to have multiple providers on different backbones if you run into availability issues.

There are currently no legal cases in Germany against Usenet like with copyrighted material and torrenting, that’s mostly because you don’t distribute with Usenet.

000999,

You don’t need the prowlarr part. But yeah just choose a provider (paid), sign in to the the client and download from an indexer. Then unpack the files.

Chewy7324,

I found prowlarr great because it provides stats about how the different indexer perform. This makes it easier to decide which providers I don’t need.

WeAreAllOne, w Having a hard time settling on a VPN

Check out windscribe, they have port forwarding. Proton is great too. If you’re on windows setting up port forwarding with their app is a breeze vs Linux which they are developing better at current.

wolfshadowheart,
@wolfshadowheart@kbin.social avatar

I'm currently having a dumb issue if you'd happen to have some insight. I have windscribe. I'm using linux (debian). I installed the Windscribe package from the site and I have the same GUI I'm used to from Windows.

When I connect to my static IP, my ethernet IP doesn't change.

How do I ensure that I'm on my static IP in Linux so that I can actually use port-forwarding? Because at the moment I cannot turn on my VPN and have Plex, Overseer, any containers accessible outside my network. I can only see them on localhost. Eventually I'd like to get a domain redirect, but that's a separate issue that will be easier once I have a solid answer on getting my VPN always on and split tunneling in it set up properly.

I'm losing my shit here cause I can't find anything about this dumb problem online and it's such a simple thing that I'm used to just working lol.

Leaving that for posterity. I reread your comment. Their Linux app so looks to be parity equivalent with Windows, I believe both use your account online to set up port forwarding. However CLI Windscribe I believe is missing the option. But in any case, what you said my be related to the issue I'm having.

Anyway, fully +1 on Windscribe. I've been using them for years and they've always been quite to respond, transparent with what they've been served, and were active online on forums. Used a +50 code for quite some time and finally wanted unlimited and port-forwarding so I bought a sub and a static IP. Seems well priced as well, I'm paying about $25/year I think.

DivisionResult,

About tour técnical problem.

Just setup staticip un /etc/network/interfaces.

Search thatpath and static there is a lot of material about it.

(:

wolfshadowheart,
@wolfshadowheart@kbin.social avatar

I did do that but then my global connection to Plex stopped working entirely and localhost stopped working as well. Granted, I hadn't set it up to the VPN's IP yet!

I'll keep this in mind for the next run, thank you so much!

DivisionResult,

Nice you to know its running. :)

Upload it to private and public trackers, get a cheap seedbox to seed them for a long while

ApatheticAlligator, w How can I find my schools Adobe Premiere/Photoshop Elements 2020 key?

why risk stealing from your school when cracking exists?

Sharpiemarker,

Exactly. OP, whatever you’re thinking of doing is an incredibly bad idea and very illegal.

ICastFist, w "Copyright fuels creativity [...] promotes free speech", heh
@ICastFist@programming.dev avatar

Copyright fuels a weird form of creativity, the “Original Character do not steal” that is a blatant copy of another character. It also happens in music all the time, “Original lyrics, sound and composition, do not copy”

As for promoting free speech, yeah, no, it doesn’t. Everyone can point to a dozen videos being taken down by bogus copyright reasons, whether because it played 10 seconds of a specific music, or because the author of a piece of art disliked the video. That’s not even mentioning how you can’t (couldn’t?) use the “happy birthday” song in USA without being copyright struck.

Micromot,

In germany it explicitly includes that you can use as much stuff of some else if you add something or make a parody, just copying is obviously forbidden

TheFogan,

In the US the law does that. Even reaction videos that basically show the original are generally OK. The problem is that generally places for the general public to post things, don’t want to spend the legal costs of checking every claim. So they do a guilty until proven innocent approach where if someone has a registered business if they accuse someone it gets yanked immidiately, and then it’s up to the users to prove it’s not infringement.

averyfalken, w My 2tb jellyfin server with a disney collection go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I miss the days I only needed 2 tb

xtremeownage,

For me, that would have been over 15 years ago. Even my NAS from 2014 was pushing 16T or so.

thepianistfroggollum,

Yeah, I’m at 28T and I’m eying some 18T drives for an expansion unit.

xtremeownage,

Just wait until you get where I am… I am pushing north of 140T of overall storage right now, lol. And, it keeps growing.

Evil_Shrubbery,

I wish them nicely quiet Red Plus drives would go to to 20 or 22TB.

DemSpud,

They do don’t they?

grinde,

Current biggest is 14tb

DemSpud,

Ahh my bad, I was thinking of the Red Pros

Omega_Jimes,

I’ve had to start trimming things, but I can’t get rid of hard-to-finds. It’s mostly new shows, I’ll only keep recent seasons.

I can’t lose shows like Captain Star or Duckman, but I probably don’t need every season of Westworld.

Dave,

I hope you’re seeding those hard to finds!

Omega_Jimes,

I was but after two reimages I’m not even sure which torrents they were.

Dave,

This is why they are hard to find! Where’s the dedication? 🙂

PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S, w Is it wrong to pirate movies I've purchased digitally and load onto my Plex server?

Is it wrong to pirate {anything}

No.

kzhe, w Youtube - like apps like piped.video, but as Android app?

Clipious for Invidious based, but it’s not as good as Libretube Newpipe for Piped, but it’s direct and reveals your IP to YT and has bad UI Libretube for Piped, but it’s a bit buggy at times.

Ganbat, w Youtube - like apps like piped.video, but as Android app?

NewPipe, NewPipe + Sponsorblock, PipePipe and LibreTube are pretty much all of them.

Devjavu, w Youtube - like apps like piped.video, but as Android app?

Libretube works off piped servers and has multiple instances listed ready for use. It includes Sponsorblock and has a beautiful UI. It’s slightly buggy sometimes but if you can deal with that it’s the best.

UnRelatedBurner, w got the disk space and the bandwidth to spare so

I sometimes do the same when I spot something new and high demand

fernandorincon, w Can they even track pirated installs ?

I’m sure they can track the installation. Not sure if they can tell it was pirated.

Petter1,

I guess that would depend on the cracker…

dewritochan, w Is It Farewell To The Internet Archive?
Pearlescence,

Lmao I’m so sorry! I realised afterwards what was happening, but have no idea how to fix it since I’m still fairly new to Lemmy. I hope it didn’t inconvenience you too much!

LiveLM, w Can Pirate's Bay be considered "safe" if it is used only for non-executable multimedia content?

Since it’s a Linux box, you could try to sandbox your player with Firejail or a Flatpak + Flatseal. Just for a little bit of extra peace of mind.

rah, w Can Pirate's Bay be considered "safe" if it is used only for non-executable multimedia content?

The Pirate’s Bay

I think you mean “The Pirate Bay”?
