Why is the 3060 the “most popular” when it has ~6% but “other” has ~10%? Shouldn’t the most popular GPU show “other?” 🤔

skullone,

Other is a category made up of many different GPUs so no, it doesn’t mean that “other” is the most popular. Learning to read data needs to be better reinforced in early and often in education.

Release Blasphemous 2!

FooBarrington,

I’m confused, since I’ve already completed the game. What do you mean?

Seytoux,

Look for blasphemous 2 trailer in YouTube, it is in the making and should be released soon. Was announced more then a year ago I think.

FooBarrington,

As I’ve said, I already played through Blasphemous 2, it was released a couple of weeks ago (August 24th).

Release Blasphemous 3!

FooBarrington,

I’d be up for it! Though I hope they do some more grotesque bosses. They were the coolest parts of the first one, and the second one was a lot more tame for the bigger bosses.

Seytoux,

Oh sorry, I misunderstood your comment and apparently totally missed the release.

Cool, as soon as I return to my home city I’ll buy it. Thanks!

FooBarrington,

You’re welcome, and have fun!

@InEnduringGrowStrong@sh.itjust.works avatar

Classic cash grab, not too surprised.
Yet people keep buying these games.

loobkoob,

Despite some of the players complaining, a lot of the audience likes the pay-to-win mechanic. It's not a game funded purely by whales; a lot of average players will spend money on the loot boxes. "I like that it means I don't have to grind for ages, I don't have time for that" and "it feels like the sports trading cards I had when I was a kid" are a couple of the reasons I hear somewhat regularly. The idea that it could be designed to not be grindy in the first place doesn't even occur to them.

InEnduringGrowStrong,

Very true.
It’s also kinda sad.

The idea that it could be designed to not be grindy in the first place doesn’t even occur to them.

Orphan crushing machine vibes.

calewerks,

There’s also still a sizable chunk of the audience who doesn’t even engage with Ultimate Team, and just wants to play all of the other game modes.

whereBeWaldo,

I am trying to convince my best friend to not buy the same cashgrab game every year but my mans just can’t stop himself. At least he doesn’t partake in any microtransactions.

Stardew Valley for the third or fourth time. Still as nice and calming as the last time. Such a beautiful little perfect game.

Have they actually made the game playable now?

UrPartnerInCrime,

It’s alright. Not the best battlefield but it’s decent now

ech, w Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have become so desperate for information they've convinced themselves that the moon is teasing an upcoming reveal

Honestly, this doesn’t seem all that far-fetched. It could very well just be the art department being extra diligent with accuracy to the event start date, but the VI does suggest more to it. I suppose everyone will find out next month.

What a sad story. This person is no doubt now facing feelings of intense emptiness as well as a realization that a substantial part of their life has been wasted on something utterly meaningless and without value. I hope they make it through that darkness to find something else to occupy themselves with soon—hopefully something that results in happiness, knowledge and expertise this time around.

Nah, they’ll just get started on the next FF game

Peaty,

XIV is an MMO. They will wait for more achievements to be released in that game.

JackDark, w Frostpunk 2 Preview: Less Frost and More Punks in This Daunting Society Simulator Sequel

Frostpunk was an amazing game, but I honestly don’t know that I ever want to play the sequel. The first one was so stressful. It was the game equivalent of Requiem for a Dream, ie the best game I never want to play again.

bionicjoey,

Same. I remember beating the game and then finding out that there are multiple campaign missions. And I was like “no thanks, once is enough”

abraxas,

Worse (at least back then), the replayability plummeted a lot. Once the fear was gone, you played a couple times to see all the branches and min-max a bit. Once you did an extreme deathless run, it was as solved-problem as any puzzler (which in a way, it was).

I’m curious what a sequel would look like. If it’s a totally different puzzle to work out, it might be interesting.

From the images, though, it looks like it might be a bit more seamless an experience, where expanding beyond the initial burner is possible. That could change everything.

Pons_Aelius, w Can Meta’s new VR headset stop me feeling sick?

They didn't fix the VR induced nausea. They moved to a mixed reality headset. You still see the room you are in as well as the game.

The question I then have to ask is: Why strap this to your head?

remotelove,
@remotelove@lemmy.ca avatar

I have no clue. VR has its uses, but it absolutely has no place in my daily life like the zuck wants to believe.

There would be more sympathy for Meta of they actually produced something innovative, but they aren’t. The screens and the lenses might be getting better and the device might be getting a few ounces lighter, but that is about it. Maybe augmented reality is getting a bit better? Whatever they are doing, it can’t justify the billions they have spent on it.

Steam spy?

xrtxn,

TIL he made: steamspy.com

brsrklf,

I never used steam spy either, so I had that image of a guy at Epic whose whole job was spying on Steam.

Probably in a trenchcoat and a hat, mainly acting shady around Valve headquarters.

brsrklf,

I was barely aware of GameSpy while it was still a thing. It was just some service I’d never used.

…or so I thought, until Nintendo killed all its DS and Wii online functions because they were using GameSpy and the service was being shut down.

yads,

Yep, a “maker of” would have been helpful in the title

steamspy.com

Steam Spy is a website created by Sergey Galyonkin and launched in April 2015. The site uses an application programming interface (API) to the Steam software distribution service owned by Valve to estimate the number of sales of software titles offered on the service. Estimates are made based on the API polling user profiles from Steam to determine what software titles (primarily video games) they own and using statistics to estimate overall sales. Software developers have reported that Galyonkin’s algorithms can provide sales numbers that are accurate to within 10%, though Galyonkin cautions against using his estimates in financial projections and other business-critical decisions. Due to changes in Steam’s privacy features in April 2018, Galyonkin had anticipated he would need to shut down the service due to the inability to estimate accurate numbers from other sources, but later that month revealed a new algorithm using publicly available data, which, while having a larger number of outliers, he still believes has reasonable accuracy for use. - Wikipedia
