Terrible name, likely online-only and with that kernel-level anti-cheat that makes it both intrusive and Windows-only, and it's got hitstun decay. It's like they're trying to tell me not to play it.
I can’t wait to have a hair raising chase where I misjudge a movement and narrowly crash into a rock sending a fireball into the sky and scattering debris everywhere. Or you know, the screen could cut to black cause plane crashes still bad
It was so painfully ironic too, after all the political jabs in the game, getting their work stolen by greedy investors sounds like something that would happen in a side quest…
Bold to assume. After making a human girl kiss Sonic, and having him freed from years of torture only to become an OC’s best friend, they aren’t upticking anything.
His take was a breath of fresh air coming from reading askagamedev blog for years, where he said that you should pay 150 bucks for a used videogame from 30 years ago instead of pirating.
This looks great. Looks like NMS crossed with Valheim. I’ve been enjoying NMS for 4 years now, with all of the continued free updates, I gotta say it was the best 30$ I’ve spent on a game. My concern is that NMS multi-player game play is very buggy, and it looks like this new game wants to be multi-player focused as well. I hope they can pull that off with the new game, and maybe fix multi-player in NMS. I’ve been loving my time in NMS and I will definitely give this new game a try. I didn’t see a release date for it, so I assume it’s a couple of years out.
It would be more of a callback than you realize. World of Goo started as a free prototype game Tower of Good where the goal was, yep, making the biggest tower of goo you could. It was very simple but fun.
The Crazy Taxi license plate was a nice touch. I saw that and knew it was going to be Crazy Taxi (which I loved). SoR, CT and JGR were games I loved playing and can’t wait to play new versions of.
Even after he found out it didn’t go anywhere he was still shilling it as it was ALL going to charity. Using his dead mother too. As someone who’s Father died with Alzheimer’s, fuck this guy.
At best, he didn’t know, which means he really didn’t care enough to even check to make sure the money was going to where it was supposed to be going? Like, the ONE thing a charity does? Even so, in 10 years, he wasn’t suspicious at all about not hearing back from these organizations (like a “Thank You for your donation letter”)? He didn’t give a shit about the charity, and used it to flaunt his own brand and ego. And that’s the BEST case scenario.
Worst case scenario he is knowingly committing charity fraud…by using his own Mother as bait. Fucking deplorable if you ask me.
I don’t know about anyone else but I usually check my account before taking out anything over a certain amount. Especially if it was in the thousands as he says.
I think I've watched maybe 2 The Completionist videos ever. I'm not in denial about anything here. I am waiting for the other side to respond, and possibly for the IRS to get involved before any final judgement. I just know his brothers statement sounded incredibly sketchy. Like I wouldn't be surprised if he was embezzling money from the charity sketchy, while Jirard seemed genuine. Maybe Jirard is just a better actor/more charismatic, it is his job after all. Time will tell.
As a board member of his own charity, he has to be aware of it at some point. Heck, he even acknowledged to know this since 2021 and still nothing happened.
I don't see how there's any good explanation though for having a website quote thanking them for donating from someone who was fired for money issues 7 years prior.
It has over 612k views in 22 hours but if the watch time is low that’s probably because everyone is waiting for their chance to properly watch it. Also I personally wouldn’t call these video essays they’re more like documentaries. Not that it matters but if there’s backlash against video essays I’d really like channels like this to not be included in that.
This is a straight up documentary. I feel like he should have released it in hour-to-hour-and-a-half parts, but massive respect for coming outta nowhere after two years and dropping this fucking masterpiece

I mean it’s hard to sell a 6 hour video. I immediately wanted to watch it when it showed up in my feed, but then paused when I saw the run time. I WANT to watch it, but that’s a massive chunk.
I think they presume that, if you are already into EVE Online, you aren't too concerned with sinking shame-inducing amounts of time into your entertainment.
I feel the exact opposite. Nightdive is doing EXACTLY what everyone should do.
First, Enhanced Edition to drum up hype and put the true original title back on the map. Then, the ground up remake to provide a new and refined experience.
This what they did with System Shock 1, and it worked great. I wish Capcom would do this with Resident Evil. I love the Resident Evil Remakes, but the originals are their own experience and having them available too in the best quality they can on modern platforms would be awesome.
100% disagree. Like in theory I agree with you but they already did an "enhanced" edition for System shock 2. It was their literal first game release. It was their port of System shock 2 that allowed it to run on modern systems, which released in 2013.
The following was the feature list of system shock 1 enhanced edition:
Higher resolution support up to 4K widescreen mode
Mouselook support
Rebindable keyboard/mouse/joystick commands
Adapted to Nightdive's KEX engine
Support for both Direct3D and OpenGL
Option to switch between hi-resolution Mac assets and the original DOS assets
Official support for fan missions and fan mods
New unified options menu that allows changing preferences before gameplay
Adjustable FOV (Field of View)
Smoother camera rotation and translation
Improved control scheme which allows faster and streamlined experience
Brand new achievements
Remappable keys with three profiles to choose from: original controls, custom controls, and lefthanded controls.
Many of these things are minor.
This allows them to update SS2 into their KEX engine but this just feels so unambitious. People are chomping at the bits for a proper remake of SS2 not another remaster.
