warm, (edited ) do games w Baldur’s Gate 3: The Final Patch - An Animated Short

This is going to have to be an absolutely gigantic patch to fix all the bugs.

Canadian_Cabinet,

Sven Vincke said the patch notes measured around 48 pages

warm,

It's pretty small on Steam

CosmoNova,

As Astarion already said it‘s only the final content patch. Bugs will likely still get fixed later on.

They even put the family guy death pose lmao

This looks fun as hell. No pun intended. Cannot wait to try this out on the Steamdeck.

no offline singleplayer, no fun for me

mohab, do games w Rematch - Official Release Date Trailer

Take it from someone who grew up almost exclusively playing PES and FIFA: this looks ass.

Also, PES always had this camera angle? It's fucking horrible. If you control the entire team, you absolutely want the sideline view, not that wonky 3rd person one.

Even if you control one player, it's just much easier to keep up with the constantly moving ball with a much wider angle. You don't want the ball coming from off screen like they show in the clip when the player scores a header—higher likelihood you're gonna fumble the timing, and if you move the camera to track the ball, you may miss the keeper coming out/a defender coming at you.

And what's up with those rules? 😂 They're comically generic.

Unless this game has a ton of cool ideas hiding up its sleeve and not showing it in the trailers for some odd reason, this looks so obnoxiously arrogant and I have no idea what the selling point is, if any.

And let me add: I stopped playing FIFA and PES because they both suck, so I'm literally the target market. But this doesn't remotely look promising. Like, they didn't even solve the animation issuss… players look so stiff and seeing how they receive the ball is jarring.

TeNppa,

As a Rocket League player, who doesn’t like FIFA or PES, this game looks very interesting. In RL there is an indicator on where the ball is and the ball cam works really well. There might be some UI elements left out for the trailer.

The animations are fine enough. I don’t crave a soccer simulator, quite the opposite. If the controls are tight, the animations might need to suffer from it and that’s totally fine in my books.

So I’ll save the judgment until I’ve played the game.

mohab,

In RL there is an indicator on where the ball is and the ball cam works really well.

And the ball is bigger and slower/more floaty than an actual football—it's neither in this game.

I think the 3rd person perspective and RL-looking field make you think it's RL with people, but it's just PES with the camera set to 3rd person.

FIFA is arcade-y as shit, this is why PES fans hate it. It still looked like shit.

Like, I obviously haven't played the game, so IDK for sure if it's fun or not. You're doing the correct thing saving your judgment. All I'm saying is it hasn't shown anything new/revolutionary, and that rubs me off the wrong way.

mohab,

I played the open beta. It arrogantly reintroduces gameplay problems PES and FIFA resolved long ago:

  1. Directional inputs are relative to your constantly moving camera, not your player.
  2. Camera locks onto the player, not the ball.
  3. The off-camera ball tracker completely falls apart in scrambles/when the ball is close since you have to stop and play camera operator to know what the hell is happening before deciding what to do.
  4. Completely ignores motion inputs in favor of situational inputs when performing skills, which severely limits the number of skills you can do. You can essentially do cooler shit in PES2017, never mind any FIFA Street.
  5. No off-camera teammates tracker.
  6. No indication which team is in possession off camera.
  7. No power gauge for passes/shots.

And it does not add anything new in terms of gameplay other than removing fouls, offsides, and throw-ins/corners/goalkicks, which literally was a mode in FIFA98.

Rocket League can get away with some of that because you essentially play with s balloon, not a football; whereas Rematch feels like an awkward version of the 3rd-person camera in PES.

Its obvious going off the cinematic trailer that making this another fucking live service game was a mistake. Lots of neat visuals and implied narrative being wasted.

Tieas, do games w Marathon | Gameplay Reveal Trailer

Visuals look stunning, gameplay looks like everything else we’ve seen. What’s the hook?

Phegan, do games w Marathon | Reveal Cinematic Short

My read is that Marathon is going to be a massive flop. They are changing a box price for it. It’s not a style of game that many destiny players will flock to, and it’s not unique enough for extraction shooter players to leave their games for.

I expect a full fledged bomb.

Denjin, do games w Marathon | Gameplay Reveal Trailer

What is the point of having this called Marathon. It has exactly zero in common with the original games. Looks completely different, plays completely different, setting is completely different, storyline seemingly completely irrelevant, plus I’d wager the number of people who fondly remember the original and are also interested in playing a knock off extraction shooter on PS5 is pretty close to zero.

crossdl,

I’m convinced Bungie is still chasing the specter of eSports PvP. So, they’re “adapting” their PvE square peg to fit in a PvEvP round hole.

This has flop written all over it. Why can Marathon get contextual ping but Destiny doesn’t? How do you make a loot chase where you might loose all your loot in a round?

thegamesedward, do games w Marathon | Gameplay Reveal Trailer

Haters be damned, this looks slick as hell and I will gladly pay for it.

Abnorc,

It might be good. It’s just kind of insulting to use the Marathon IP for this. Still, I’m happy for anyone who ends up liking it.

Huh, this is 100% free. Looks like it’s a smaller version of Lunacid (which is $14)

whodrankarnoldpalmer, do games w Lunacid: Tears of the Moon Trailer

Is this a VR game or just trying (and mostly succeeding) to nail a specific 1997 game vibe?

duchess, (edited )

It‘s trying to nail the specific vibe of King’s Field. Edit: it’s even made with Sword of Moonlight, From Software‘s published game maker tool.

DataBlade, do games w Marathon | Gameplay Reveal Trailer

That trailer made it look like Destiny 2 crucible. Complete with hunters going invis to one shot you without warning.

I was hesitantly optimistic over the past years. Maybe it would be a story driven game like Destiny, but in larger PvPvE maps. But now just looks like a generic extraction shooter done in Destiny crucible style

How long before they cut out half the game and blame the players?

Eyck_of_denesle, do games w Marathon | Gameplay Reveal Trailer

Is this gonna be free?

Krompus,
@Krompus@lemmy.world avatar

Quite the opposite.

Eyck_of_denesle,

Well good luck for them getting any players. Even free Extravtion shooters are failing to get people to stick. Here before this goes ftp with battlepass and prob lootboxes xD.

pm_me_anime_thighs,

Im assuming the base paid version will still have battlepasses and lootboxes.
