Adored Astro’s Playroom. Looking forward to this one.

It doesn’t look any better. Stiff animations, no idea who thought Angela was supposed to look like that.

Like, I don’t even want to pirate it. I can’t believe I am saying this but Gans’ movie looks more faithful to the original than the remake. They changed like literally everything.

Chozo,
@Chozo@fedia.io avatar

I mean, aren't stiff animations true to the source material in this case? The stilted nature of the player movement of the original SH games are a big part of why I loved them, because you're not some combat-trained martial artist who can backflip and parry attacks, you're just a dude, armed with a steel pipe and depression, so of course your movement is going to be less than graceful. That said, the combat still looks way more fluid than the original game, though it's not quite as action-hero-ish as the western-developed SH games were.

I'm more concerned with the visuals. It's really tough to make a judgement on them, since YouTube's compression really chews up anything with foggy graphics, but it looks kinda rough so far.

RightHandOfIkaros,

I dont mean that it looks janky because the animations are expected to be some sort of action game animations, thats not it at all. The animation quality itself is just not good. Like, the original had less stiff or awkward looking animations in some cases. Particularly in the transitions between animation states and some of the hit animations for the metal pipe, for example. The point of survival horror, and its main distinguishing point that makes it different from action horror, is that combat is not meant to feel good or satisfying. A good survival horror game will make the player more often than not choose to not engage in combat. Its better to save health and not waste time. But this remake just throws that out the window I guess.

Flesh Lips battle room is like 3 times bigger than it originally was. The locker room you get the bent needle in is needlessly larger than the original. The room you use the bent needle and hair to get the key in is no longer just a shower room but some random utility room with a shower in the corner for some reason. Marias leapord print skirt is gone, with her midriff covered and the important large butterfly/moth tatoo shrunk and moved up to her chest. All these random changes that were entirely unnecessary.

Have you seen what they did to Angela? They haven’t even shown Eddie. Not a single frame of Eddie literally anywhere. They have mishandled every face in the game, I am afraid of what they did to Eddie.

I’ll never forget that moment in the game when it felt like you were bending and stretching a spring.

It seems like Sony have finally found their Mario and I’m stoked about it!

VelvetStorm,

Ya, this has some real Mario vibes to it. Can’t wait for this to come out.

Looks amazing!

Do you know if it works on the steam deck?

Thank you! It does, native Linux build and full Xboxb controller support, many players have tested on their SDs.

Is this just SMTV: Royal? Like basically the same game but with some added content?

simple,

Yup.

  • VaultBoyNewVegas,

My dumbass did it twice. I got burnt by soul hackers 2 and SMT V on switch.

    johannesvanderwhales,

I know when I played SMTV I was thinking the whole time that I should’ve waited for it to arrive on another platform. The performance on Switch was ass.

I picked it up to test. So far I once got soft locked in a push animation while pushing a box another player was pushing, but otherwise the game seems nice and fun. Also it’s beautifully designed.

A lot of good first steps, but this shouldn’t be owned by a private company.

    Novi,

That’s how things are done in the USA.

    @Wooster@startrek.website avatar

Doesn’t mean we should shrug it off as acceptable.

    yokonzo,

    Still shouldn’t be

    Taleya,

It should also be high speed. That speed is honestly laughable

    Alexstarfire,

I’m not watching the video, what type of speed are we talking about?

    Xavienth,

It says 200 mph in the description, or 320 kph. That’s respectable.

Looks pretty fun. A heads up that your screenshots on Google Play are of the PC version (unless qwe is a placeholder to be updated later).

Will give it a shot later

It’s pretty fun so far, and rage inducing lol. You can see the inspirations drawn from Hollow Knight, Ori and such. Though, I find it way harder and unforgiving than Hollow Knight. The game really wants you to parry every single enemy attack, and will punish you quite hard you if you fail to do so. Just holding the block button does not work, it will block one attack but not the next. You need to press block (or ideally parry with the right timing) on every attack to avoid getting stun locked, which means fighting multiple enemies could be quite challenging, and enemies with quick attack combos are guaranteed to be a pain in the ass.

Nice job! The presentation is very readable despite the inherently cluttered playspace of a TD game

Thank you! The "single-tower" style certainly helps with that :D.

I hated Hollow Knight. I decided I wanna try Sekiro and I’m waiting for it to go on sale (who knows when). But this? Man I want to play this. It looks incredible and has amazing sound design.

    simple,

    I hated Hollow Knight

It’s one of my favorite games of all time :(

Nine sols does look good though, and more action focused compared to HK’s exploration focus

You can also give Kannagi Usagi a try to see if you like the formula.

It’s free and pretty much a 1:1 copy of Sekiro bosses.

    store.steampowered.com/app/…/__KANNAGI_USAGI/

    technomad,

    I hated Hollow Knight

    but why though?

    clearedtoland,

My reaction to it was weird. I was kind of digging it for the most part in the beginning thinking I’d get hooked like I did with Ori.

But that never happened and somewhere mid game it just felt like it was dragging, the characters felt stale, and it seemed difficult for the sake of being difficult instead of clever. I struggle enjoying games that require perfectly timed button press combos. I even went back and tried it again like a month ago and had the same experience.

That’s not a knock on the game, of course. It’s a huge fan fave for a reason but it’s just not my preference.

    technomad,

Interesting. I didn’t have those same reactions, but your reasons are valid. The game kept my interest through the majority of it, though I never did beat it. I definitely just nope’d out of some of the more difficult areas in the game, so I kind of get what you’re saying. For me though, I felt like the mechanics were enough to keep me playing even if the characters weren’t that interesting or whatever.

With Nine Sols so far I’m really enjoying it (I haven’t played that much yet). It is rather difficult though, and I’m not sure how far I’ll get with it before I get burned out on it…

    Falkerie71’s comment was pretty accurate.
