callouscomic,

What a weird read. It’s like 3 separate unrelated random thoughts.

What JRPG combat is your favorite? angielski

I’m currently playing Xenoblade Chronicles and I also played Final Fantasy remake and Golden Sun recently and all of them have wildly different combats. Which got me thinking what JRPG out there had the best combat? This doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily your favorite JRPG as well....

callouscomic,

Ys: Seven and Ys: Memories of Celceta.

Know any good pinball video games? angielski

I recently played through a demo for a game called Pinball Spire on steam, and it put me in the mood for playing pinball games. Unfortunately, and I don’t know if this is just due to me having bad google-foo, there don’t seem to be that many on Steam that catch my interest....

callouscomic,

I like the Skyrim and Deadpool tables on Pinball FX3. Plays great on Steam Deck.

callouscomic,

Lots of Elder Scrolls and Elder Scrolls Online

Lots of Metal Gear stuff

Kingdoms of Amalur

Shadow of the Colossus

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon (badass 80s music)

Assassins Creed 3

callouscomic,

They made Aloy worse in the sequel. She literally gives away puzzles and ruins things and won’t shut up. I swear she wasn’t as bad in the first game. I lost interest quickly in the sequel.

callouscomic,

What I’m hearing is a remake of Duke Nukem Forever “could” be profitable.

callouscomic,

Not watching this, but they won’t do it right. It’ll be disappointing, under-powered, with little to no backwards compatibility, and a shit network with the same generic kind of garbage games Nintendo always releases. Everyone will buy the shit out of it cause they’re morons.

callouscomic,

For Elder Scrolls, I’d recommend giving either Oblivion or Skyrim a whirl, and then after you feel done with one, try the other. In my opinion they are both great for different reasons, and they are different enough to feel like very different games in some ways.

If it helps you make a decision in terms of RPG story feel, Skyrim is more about you as the hero, and Oblivion you’re more like a person that happens to be there.

There’s great modding resources too if you’re into that. Especially on Nexus. Even light modding like some QoL upgrades or bug fixes. I’m not talking crazy mods.

Oh, the endgame for Skyrim (the original DLCs) really do give you some rewarding post-game fun in like a god mode.

callouscomic,

Get ready for the Huge Re-Release of Dead Risings Remaster, or HuRRDRR

callouscomic,

It’s called PC gaming.

callouscomic,

They’re trying to ship Mario and Luigi? Wow, what a pride month.

callouscomic,

I will always see Chloe Grace Moretz on the cover of Starfield.

callouscomic,

I think the faces seem wrong. They feel like if this was some elaborate but unofficial HD remake. They look like imposter characters.

callouscomic,

Don’t look at the cost of Pinball machines.

callouscomic,

And it’ll be the last GTA some of us ever see.

callouscomic,

steam deck exists: “am I a joke to you?”

callouscomic,

I thought it was because of cars?

I thought it was because of straws?

I thought it was because of private jets?

I thought it was because of deforestation?

I thought it was because of plastic ocean pollution?

I thought it was because of the top major corporations?

I thought it was because of soot ovens in southeast asia?

Seems like I have read that it is predominantly because of everything.

callouscomic,

Most of Nintendo’s pre-Switch “consoles” arguably had poor performance-to-price ratios in terms of hardware.

Also, a PC doesn’t have the constraints of a mobile form factor and better cooling and can have better performance without the built in battery and screen. You just argued to me that a PC can be a console.

This all seems arbitrary to argue the differences.

callouscomic,

Elder Scrolls Online just is wrapping up it’s 10th anniversary event, and it’s been pretty underwhelming. They basically did what they do for every event, and made it about farming rewards only on specific activities that result in people grinding mindlessly, and too many people congregating on the same things, which causes bugs and issues so many players don’t even get rewards.

I barely partake in ESO events anymore. They’re copy/paste, and hardly any fun. And your reward is often the 10 billionth style you won’t use anyways, but everyone has FOMO so they go nuts.

I would have much preferred unique quest lines revisiting past incidents, stories, characters. Especially if the game detected how long you’ve played and how much content you’ve cleared and sorta systematically gave you a somewhat tailored event to go down memory lane. Or if it had been more broad and not specific to small parts of the game world or specific activities. The only broadly applied stuff were endless loot boxes that get old.

Just felt very meh.

callouscomic,

If a family member gets banned for cheating while playing your copy of a game, you (the game owner) will also be banned in that game.

This is going to be hilarious. Can’t wait to see the whining online.

callouscomic,

Sony can’t even include basic features in new console releases. Like themes, music players, or folders. Multiple consoles in a row now.

callouscomic,

I was just looking at Switch games in the store this weekend. Even games that came out when Switch launched are still nearly $60. The console is slow and laggy. Nintendos online networks are laughable and cheesy. It’s such a barebones and cruddy system with overpriced games and it never drops in price or popularity. People make no sense to me.

callouscomic,

Third-person is objectively superior to first-person.

callouscomic,

Honestly?

Steam probably puts more into security or something and has more confidence in themselves, and the others don’t and they know it and so they have half-assed approaches that put the burden on YOU to reduce their risk.

callouscomic,

I just… I just wanna shoot him. I JUST wanna talk to him.

callouscomic,

Yes. Over the years I just stick to Steam partly because it actually keeps me logged in and actually functions faster than a snails pace.

Uplay/Uconnect whatever they wanna call themselves today is the worst. But Origin/EA and Epic ain’t much better.

callouscomic,

PS5 and a Steam Deck aren’t massively different in price. Building a PC can be relatively the same price during sales depending on your expectation. And then the games on PC are so much more often cheaper, that it saves a lot of money on that front.

Over the last few years, I have bought countless games for Steam at a few bucks or less that were $20+ on PS.

And that’s not even getting into how garbage Sony customer service has been for over a decade when you need them.

I might regret wasting money on a PS5. I play Steam Link or Steam Deck more than anything today, and this is likely my last console Gen. Steam also has controller configuration settings that make playing older games so much nicer. Some games I never thought I’d comfortably play with a controller can be modernized very well with enough tinkering.

The Nintendo Switch is an appallingly slow and clunky piece of handheld. Nintendo hardware is slow and their UI, eshop, and general software designs suck. They are immensely restrictive about game saves, ownership, and transferring things to new systems, and their stuff is needlessly pricey.

I don’t even bother with Xbox. PC for that.

callouscomic,

People shit on the Hobbit trilogy for the CGI compared to the live action of the LOTR trilogy. This stuff does happen.

callouscomic,

I don’t understand the appeal. Gamers rage about how RNG ruins games, and the biggest game of the year is totally based in RNG.

Then there’s the hornyness. Even the trailers made this game seem like it’s just about who you can bang.

callouscomic,

I got tired a long time ago of games unnecessarily forcing phones and social media into them. They’re never done well, and real life social media sucks enough, we don’t need more of it in games.

callouscomic,

Very complicated way of saying “I didn’t like this, so I stopped doing it.”

Well, duh.

What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games? angielski

I’ve been thinking about making this thread for a few days. Sometimes, I play a game and it has some very basic features that are just not in every other game and I think to myself: Why is this not standard?! and I wanted to know what were yours....

callouscomic,

So even if they had sold it on Steam, this was likely not going to work on Steam Deck? Doesn’t this denuvo kind of stuff cause issues?

callouscomic,

Good to know. I haven’t run into any issues, but I dunno if any games I’ve played had it. I had considered getting Mirage for Steam Deck, but I really don’t want to own it on ubisofts app.

callouscomic,

The most liked AC games are good games, but not good AC games. I’ve only played certain ones, cause most of them lost the charm the original was going for. Mirage gives hope they’ve remembered the point of the series.

I find this is the case for most of my favorite series. The most popular entries are usually the ones that least resemble the point of any series.

Black flag is incredibly overrated.

callouscomic,

Hey! They also can drive Far Cry and all the Tom Clancy series into the ground, while also forgetting the rest of their beloved series even existed.

callouscomic,

I say big budget games are too large in scope. Too much going on, too ambitious, too much emphasis on certain aspects that I feel developers value more than consumers. Not every game needs to be the biggest baddest game of the year blah blah blah.

callouscomic,

I was going to consider Assassin’s Creed Mirage on PC instead of PS5. Then they announced it wouldn’t be available on Steam. Now I won’t consider it on PC and likely won’t get it at all in any format.

There are reasons PC gaming is still stupid, and it’s mostly various companies fault.
