Well, had to give it another try. Before, my 3070 could barely even handle the game at decent settings and higher framerates, now my 4080 Super shouldn’t be an issue at all.
After some testing I had hoped it’d be in a better state now, only shortly tried to load my save from a long time ago but it doesn’t look very promising, was at least hoping 100+ FPS at this point, but I face one side I get 70 FPS, and I turn to a misty valley and it burns down to like 20. Also initially had issues to even get the game running again, it would just freeze when the game window was active, I could hear my buttons having effect, but nothing would show until I took the focus off the game.
After rebooting it a couple of times and fiddling with some settings it seems to now work (still strangely the same settings as I started with), and sometimes it performs well and sometimes it struggles. Very inconsistent. If I turn off my MSI Afterburner undervolt config it feels like the game will melt my rig, the fans go absolutely crazy.
Also there seems to be quite some pop-in textures, terrain, trees and foliage. I don’t really recall this from before, at least not this noticable.
Hope it’s a driver thing or perhaps still more optimisation, because the game seems fun. Combat is still super basic and easy though, but being able to build a lively village makes up for it for me.
I bought a PS4 pro back in the day but am giving this one a pass.
I’m all for incremental mid-gen upgrades, but not at that price point. If it can’t be priced competitively with the prices people have been paying, then it should not be made until the hardware they want meets that price point.
Should have made it $499 and drop the base price of the PS5 to $399.
I bought the PS4 Pro as well, because it didn’t feel like a bad value. It felt like a mid gen refresh where we got some extra power for no extra cost. Sony thinks players care about the extra performance for another $200, which is ridiculous. Up until this generation, consoles got cheaper over time as they become cheaper to produce. This is the first generation (that I remember) where the cost has stayed the same/gone up.
I fully agree that at $500, this would be a no-brainer for those wanting the extra power. A $350 base console would be a good pairing.
Every time I hear about eve, I remember how much I wished it was a slightly different game. There is no way to play eve without investing many hours each time. Everything takes a very long time.
On the plus side, just the feeling that someone may come up and kill you and take your stuff makes the game feel quite scary. I was doing wormholes for a while and pretty much was constantly nervous about getting killed. Never happened though.
I played the free Astro Bot game bundled with the PS5 and found it to be a quality platformer and a nostalgic trip through Playstation history. I didn’t play the latest release but will eventually.
Initial selection is only 23 games, not sure why they’re not just releasing everything. I guess they’re planning on parceling the music out like their emulators.
The choices of games are also kind of strange, like why 2 versions of Metroid? Why starfox 64 and not like Mario 64
The ability to extend songs up to 60 minutes is pretty cool
The idea of character specific playlists is interesting
It crashes semi frequently, not a good sign.
It does add value to the Switch online membership, but not much at this point.
This was something i noticed too. I probably won’t be using the app much because i already have all their music i want in my iTunes cloud library but the selection is odd and the choice too release the music selectively feels strange too me. I feel like they’d get more profit if they had most of their stuff on their from the get go
😂 World of darkness titles tend to have godawfull names.
all their titles start with the name of the tabletop game its based on,
in this case its: “Vampire: The Masquerade”
the actual tille of the game starts at “Bloodlines”.
thanks to that naming scheme all their titles are fucked before they even start
I have literally zero hopes. But then again all the things I wanted from the sequel are the things Paradox threw out when they handed the game over to The Chinese Room. And looking at the character changes in this trailer compared to the Hardsuit Labs trailers I can’t say I’m hopeful things have changed for the better.
These are talented developers, but the things Paradox management have said and done (in general and in regards to this game) are hardly confidence-inspiring. They’ve already said that there won’t be a part three (at least not with their help), at least heavily implied that they have no confidence in this game’s success and stated that people should tamper their expectations.
I’m sure they are and I’m sure they’re doing their best, but such a huge part of why the original has become a cult classic was Brian Mitsoda’s script. They had him on board and threw him out. I really wish I knew what was going on behind the scenes. Did he piss someone off? Was the functional parts of the game not… functioning? Or was the script really that bad? They seem to be keeping basically none of it, but the characters in the Chinese Room trailers have none of the charm of Hardsuit Labs trailers…
I think we’ll get a mediocre Dishonored-like with a Vampire theme that is Bloodlines only in name, and fans will forever wonder about and mythologize that Hardsuit Labs version with Mitsoda and Rik Schaffer (which may well have sucked in reality).
Oh. Seems pretty shitty to call it a sequel when it isn’t even the same genre. Sounds like something I will skip and I spend so much time on the first two vampire games.
They threw out the original writer and composer, and seem to have changed most characters and the whole script. It also apparently plays more like Dishonored now.
No it won’t, they will dcma all Nintendo music everywhere. That means covers, jazz remakes, other style changes, and numerous other types of variants are going with it. Those types of things won’t be in their library and could go away completely. This is not a good thing
Make sure to download any fan songs/mashups/remixes you like off of YouTube, because if Nintendo haven’t striked the fuck out of it already, they will now.
