Whoa. I had given up on ever getting a third Styx. Great news. I just hope they learned the lesson from the second game not to shove in a bunch of irreverent meta-humor that just didn’t fit.
$50 for the base game, $70 for digital deluxe with two bonus skins from Doom and some unknown number of additional songs, as well as 3 days advance access.
I know most people want this for 3 (don't blame you at all), but I actually really enjoyed 4 when I played it on Gamecube as a kid. The missions were silly and fun, and the NPCs and voice acting were over-the-top in often hilarious ways. I wonder if they've nerfed the Snake Run Slalom at all, I remember it being crazy hard.
Time to ask the burning question though... When are we getting a remake of THUG 1 + 2?
hell yeah the rumors is true. Well it LOOKS solid, but i don’t know how much actual info there was to glean out of that video. This is coming from a different studio than the people that brought you THPS 1+2, so it remains to be seen if Iron Galaxy can pull off the same kind of loving remake that Vicarious Visions gave us in 1+2. I think Iron Galaxy was responsible for the Killer Instinct reboot, so we know they have some cred on bringing old games back to life.
Iron Galaxy had some misses in the past, most notably probably the PC port for Arkham Knight. More recently, Last Of Us Part 1 on PC, which had some bad performance at launch, I think. They did the PC port for THPS1+2 though, and I don’t remember hearing some big complaints, but I also haven’t paid too much attention.
This will be my first experience of Morrowind, the original is just way too old for me to try getting into now. I’m a Philistine, I know, but I need a modern UI and interface and UX and all that jazz. Skyrim is pretty old at this point too, but it still holds up in all the important ways. So, I shall wait for the release of Skywind! (Could probably have phrased that in a slightly less flatulent way…)
I played Morrowind back in the day and I completely agree, I couldn’t play it now, just don’t have the capacity. The journaling in that game of specific quests was pretty bad, as was the horrible leveling system.
Same reason Skyblivion is allowed to exist; they’re making all the assets from scratch. Usually, the issue developers have with in-engine remakes has little to do with the modification of the engine, but everything to do with the mod team basically stealing assets from a different game. In truth, there’s no difference between Skywind and your favorite Skyrim overhaul mod besides the scope and scale of what they’re trying to do.
Clarification: Skyblivion is making most of the assets from scratch, but requires users to own Oblivion in order to import some additional assets and the full voicework which is still coming from Oblivion. There’s an installer which checks for both.
BGS have shown us nothing but good will, we’re following their guidelines strictly on assets - i.e. nothing ported, everything remade from scratch - and we’re requiring both Morrowind and Skywind to be installed… but there’s no guarantee. We’re not stressed about it.
