Not a particularly interesting article necessarily, but I wanted to share this as the list is actually quite good in my opinion, and it’s laid out very nicely. It’s one page that’s very easy to scroll through. Might find some things you havent played!
FlatOut: A great introduction to the chaotic demolition derby racer. This game laid the groundwork for the entire series and it feels wrong to deny its place in gaming history. This is more of a test of the destruction physics, a tech demo, if you will, with racing elements. But, this is still a great game regardless. The...
For about 30 seconds I toyed with the idea of setting up a Lemmy community, just for co-op game finding for fans, but I don’t think there are enough people here really. We’ll see how much interest there is as the game’s launch gets closer.
The challenge with this question is that not everyone has played in every console, so like, for me, I can only comment on the Atari 2600, the Wii and the XBOX 360.
From that small sample, the wii wins hands down. I loved the motion controllers a lot.
I get what @berttheduck said about long games / serious gamers but can you imagine your grandma trying to play most Switch or PS5 or other new console games now?
I was going to say replaying but I feel like that limits the question to games like Prey or Fallout New Vegas that have endings and games like The Sims 2 or Cities Skylines where you can play indefinitely end up excluded....
Coming into this thread, I thought I’d be the only one saying this. Most online reviews seem to prefer the sequel but I much prefer the first game. Something about the sequel’s controls just never sat well for me. I love everything about the first game though and had played it through twice right before I tried the sequel.
Maybe I should try again now that it’s been a while since then.
In the hour since I posted this I got to the end. Yeah, that was great but I wish there was more. I’d be excited to hear if they ever make a sequel.
But on the Wikipedia page it does say…
On 5 September 2023, Annapurna Animation announced an animated film adaptation of Stray is in development after the success of its first film Nimona (2023). Robert Baird, co-head of animation, felt the game was suitable for adaptation due to its popularity, as well as its buddy comedy and hopepunk elements.
So there’s that. Though it makes me sad to think we needed to make “hopepunk” a word; how is having hope a “punk” thing? :|
So, that was a passive tech, keeping you in a place, and this actively works to steer you to where you need to be. This seems better in the long run for that purpose even though it’s much more complicated.
I got the urge to play the witness for the 3rd (or maybe even 4th) time again after being slightly disappointed by the Talos Principle 2, and man I cannot express enough how much I enjoy this game. It just satisfies something deep inside me every time I play it. And I know a LOT of people (probably some here) strongly dislike...
EDITED: I should play The Witness again. I’ve played it once, mostly completed and loved it. I’m in the middle of the Talos Principle 2 now and want to finish it first. Come to my community and talk about what you didn’t like, OP.
Huh, OK. That never crossed my mind while playing TTP / TTP2 but I can see how that would be distracting from the puzzle solving.
Funny thing is, after I finished Witness, I went back to play Braid, the earlier game by the same creator and its look & feel just never worked for me at all. So yeah
I’m jonesing for these tower defense games. The first edition was released by Robot Entertainment in 2011, Orcs Must Die 2 came out in 2012, OMD Unchained (online multi-player) was from 2014 and OMD 3 was from 2020/2021. They’re all great fun and I am sad that we may never get an OMD 4. Game 1 was single-player, 2 and 3 had...
I think I’ve played OMD3 the most now and right, that’s largely because of the new options, traps and weapons. Robot did a great job moving the series foreword without removing any of the fun. And the DLC just extended that a lot more.
Billy Mitchell didn’t win his defamation lawsuit against Twin Galaxies. Not only was Billy not in a position to get a financial settlement, Billy’s cheated Donkey Kong scores were not reinstated(as he’s claiming), and his claimed Pac-Man score from 1999 is also not on the main scoreboards. What had happened is that the...
I love skate 3 and have been super excited since they announced the game was in development. I even played the alpha on PC but it was fairly sparse so there wasn’t much to do. I’ve heard the beta tests now are more filled in but I have yet to get invited to those ones....
🤓 The Talos Principle 2 is taking up my tiny slices of gaming time. Tons of puzzles to solve, a really engaging story to unfold and the music is just beautiful. If you played the first edition (from 2009) it’s totally like that and more. I’m, only halg-way through it but yeah, it’s great and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
While many great puzzle games have a fixed number of levels, I’d like to find more with procedurally-generated levels to maximize replay value. Aside from Minesweeper games, so far I’ve found the following ones:...
