I would really like to see a company go back and make unique handhelds. Handhelds have become portable consoles, which is cool, but I miss the unique games that were built around limitations or unique hardware like the DS and 3ds.
Also I would really like a handheld that doesn’t hurt when you hold it for extended periods of time.
There’s been some incredible indies the past few years. I’m loving that people are going back and making games that look and feel like they could’ve been on the n64, ps1 or SNES.
Well, I was trying to complete my second playthrough of Metal gear solid 2. But a bad Windows 11 update seems to have corrupted something, and now my PC is crawling.
So, attempting to reinstall/repair. Thanks Microsoft :3
Other than that Metal Gear has been awesome. I finished 3 the other week and have also been playing 4 on the ps3. Not super keen on the bombardment of cutscenes so far in 4, but it’s still pretty neat.
I have really appreciated learning the mechanics of each game. I feel like this is one of the first series where I can play each game twice and learn new things about the game on each playthrough. I can tell how I’m improving and when certain fights were completed with luck or if I actually mastered them. The depth is super addicting
Thank you for the heads up! I’ll have to go check when the cutscene comes up so I don’t get caught off guard.
I ended up having to watch the MGS2 cutscene before the last boss, and one of the really long MGS3 cutscenes on youtube because I fell asleep while they were playing lol
I don’t think anyone does unless the ads are on a smaller site or service. Anything larger like YouTube, tiktok etc just do some automated checks and send it. That’s why so many scams/propaganda get advertised. Nobody checks
Depends on when I hit that difficulty spike and how changing the difficulty works. If I can change the difficulty at any time and not lose progress, I’ll do it and not think twice.
I was playing the evil within 1. I was at the end of the game right before the final boss. The game up to that point was balanced on hard. It gave a good survival horror experience. Every boss fight or mini boss felt reasonable.
At the end of the game, they suddenly throw you into an arena with a ton of enemy waves that wouldn’t drop enough ammo to deal with them all. Looking it up online, the recomendation was to save ammo the whole game specifically for this fight. But nowhere prior did i feel like that was needed
Suddenly, the game went from being fun to frustrating. I didn’t wana have to replay the level so at that point I hung up the towel and moved on.
Great game otherwise! Might replay it on normal one day lol
So, while this is going on, does anyone know of must-have games that could get targeted soon? My wishlist is pretty big, and I usually sit on stuff until I feel the need to play it, but if an indie dev is going to be unfairly targeted, I might as well grab stuff now.
I’m digging indie titles taking some risks and trying new stuff. They’re usually decently cheap and fun with some friends. As AAA titles begin to adopt the new $80-85 price tags, indies have a time to shine.
I’m sorry but I don’t know where else to go. How the f*** do I contact EA Connect support?? Just how?? EA makes it nearly impossible to get in contact with a real human if you are having a problem....
Sorry I don’t have a way to help. I noticed this changed recently as well and was really frustrated by it.
Believe it or not, a decade ago, EA support was actually good. I know it sounds insane but I had the BEST customer service call with someone from the Midwest US. I was trying to get into the time trials in the game Mirrors Edge. For some reason, I was getting a weird connection error.
I spoke to this customer service rep who walked me through some bizarre steps, which seemed effectively like clearing the cache of my xbox. All the while, we just shot the shit and discussed games. It was just a casual call, she was genuinely helpful and SO efficient.
At the end of it I didn’t wana hang up the phone LOL. It was the best customer service call I’ve ever had and it kills me knowing that they axed these people at some point. It was a call that I think is rare to experience nowadays with service reps being overworked and monitored to hell and back.
Title is tongue in cheek, of course—they probably are gamers. I get that making a game is complex and full of trade-offs, and you can’t please everyone. Still, there are certain design decisions that just feel like they weren’t made by people who play games regularly.
Oooh, grounded felt like they didn’t play test for solo players. The end game suddenly got very grindy, and I decided not to finish because of it. Loved the game otherwise. I’m hoping they will try to balance it more for the second game
I’ve been streaming recently, and one thing that stands out to me is when you first boot up a game and it doesn’t have a start menu with settings.
I noticed it before, but now I really notice it. If something is wrong with the settings, sometimes that intro is unplayable or a less than optimal experience. So you have to try and skip, fix the issue, and then restart the game and try again. This seems to be more of a PC issue than a console issue, but even on consoles sometimes you need to adjust things like brightness or add subtitles
This was also my complaint. I felt like it was missing the cooperative aspect of an MMO that I wanted. I think FFXI is closer to what I want, but it’s understandably older and less accessible for a lot of people. I’m still debating when/if i wana take the plunge and just play that for a while.
I’ve spent about 60 hours replaying the intro quests in XIV trying to get into it lol
That was the ONE trailer from this Xbox announcement that I was actually looking forward to. It looked in a fairly playable state, too. I feel like a very broken record, but this is yet another reason why it feels like Microsoft is pulling out of gaming.
If I had to take a wild guess, it’s higher-ups sacking employees to get a quick payday.
Microsoft keeps buying up dev teams, promising games, and then prevents games from releasing. I have been questioning their desire to make future consoles, to be honest. It seems like they’re trying to focus on gamepass and maneuvering out of the console market. Especially with their new handheld being made by a different company.
It’s funny because companies are using AI for job listing’s and are simultaneously getting swamped by hundreds or thousands of applications due to AI as well. AI is completely messing up the job application process. Not like the process was any better prior to AI but now it’s an even bigger mess
I feel like Microsoft has been extremely dodgy when it comes to the future of the Xbox. I bet they’ll just hire more people to fill the gap. It always seems to be “look we’re trimming the fat!” And then “look we’re expanding”. Anything to boost the stock
Been kinda disappointed with Pirate software recently. He positioned himself as super knowledgeable but then makes mistakes. Of course, everyone makes mistakes, but then he kinda just doubles down when he shouldn’t sometimes.
My guess is that because he became quite popular quickly, he jumped into just pumping out content as fast as possible without giving himself time to properly research and investigate stuff.
Stuff like this makes me weary at getting another xbox console in the future (or if there even will be one) they keep seeming to shift away from games. I just hope that they allow people to access their past purchases into the future (lol I doubt it though)
I don’t think this can be salvaged at this point. Original Marathon fans don’t like that it doesn’t stay true to the source material. Everyone is mad about the plagiarism. Bungies track record is kinda shot after Destiny 2. I think the only people they could attempt to appeal to are hardcore destiny 2 fans.
I think 5 was okay playing solo. I thought it was fine enough
6 was a bit more painful playing solo because of the AI.
I would say you could just try it and see if it bugs you too much. Otherwise, just skip it, read up or watch the story and continue to have fun on your own terms

I’ve tried to get into this game a couple of times, but I don’t really understand they systems as a new player. I’ve basically just gotten to the space station hub area, but I don’t really understand what else I’m supposed to do
I’ve been working really hard on a big project, I finally finished it, and now I’m bored. I want to play an RPG where I can slaughter hordes of enemies as a pretty girl who looks like me. Yes, I want self-indulgent trash. I’m tired of trying at things, I want to relax, kill things, and see boobs. No MMOs please, I want a...
I went to the store the other day and found it amusing that they were advertising the switch 2. I thought pre orders are sold out, who the heck is going to be able to get one who is seeing this advertising?
That seems like a massive oversight. That’s so weird. I get it’s probably way easier to implement it the way they did. But because you likely will wana group with friends, it really limits people
I accidentally made the second half of the game harder for myself by not upgrading my armor. Oops. Ended up having to tinker with things for the last boss. But adjusting armor made the fight go from 2-3 hit KO’s to being able to actually take some hits. It was a lot of fun!

At DICE and GDC this year I heard talk of a trend in game development that sent a chill down my spine: “deprofessionalization.” As A16z marketing partner Ryan K. Rigney defines it, deprofessionalization is a phenomenon driven by the overperformance of older titles (particularly free-to-play live service games), large studios...
I could be wrong here, but this feels like a larger trend of trying to consolidate profits. Cut out anything/anyone “unnecessary”. Similar to the whole AI trend.
It feels to me like the closer we get to the Nintendo Switch 2’s June launch and the, apparently, $80 games associated with it, the more people are fighting with themselves over what is and isn’t worth it. But at least Sony veteran and previous head of PlayStation Indies Shuhei Yoshida is free from inner turmoil – he...
Someone on lemmy recently put this into perspective for me. Even like 1% of the population of the USA is 3 million people. If you increase the cost of a product and don’t care about long-term sales, the immediate gain in profit can outweigh the loss of total customers down the line.
I still think cutting off customers and burning good will isn’t a good business model, but I’m not stupid wealthy, so what do I know.
I would be so excited if more games were made in an n64 or ps1 style. Maybe I’m just huffing nostalgia, but I still enjoy some of those classics. Games don’t have to have amazing graphics or be massive to be fun.
Back when I was on reddit, they had tipofmyjoystick which was pretty helpful. If you aren’t opposed, everyone there was very knowledgeable. I liked frequenting that sub because it was like a guessing mini game each day, but you got to help people find games they miss.
I finally finished persona 3 reload. I skipped part of the DLC because more dungeons sounded like torture at that point. But otherwise it was great.
I started playing blue prince and then, after a few hours, realized the name was a play on words for blueprints. Doh. It’s been interesting. I am kind of getting a bit tired of the RNG of filling out the house, but I’m getting enough progress made to keep me going.
I’ve also been playing the oblivion remake, and it’s been a lot of fun! It’s like the ratatouille meme while playing. It’s nice. Oddly cozy
