Tattorack, do games w The Day Before studio say the game's downfall was thanks to "a hate campaign"
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

I mean… That’s their fault for making such a terribly hate-able game.

falsem,

Pretty much, all I can think of is Steve Carrell yelling "but I hated it!"

Fracturedfox, do games w Removed from sale: Peter Molyneux's Godus and Godus Wars, never finished

I remember playing this game when it first came out as a mobile game. Super cool concept, but I also remember hearing the drama from the start. I definitely thought this game had been abandoned a looong time ago.

SgtAStrawberry,

I remember loving it when it came out for mobile and really liking the updates for a while. Then I didn’t play it for some time as I had done most stuff and when I came back it had had some big update that completely changed it and I really didn’t like it.

kromem, do games w CD Projekt quest designer discusses the "challenge" of developing Cyberpunk 2 for Unreal Engine

Aka “we don’t know the engine well enough yet to be aware of bottlenecks during our concepting phase and that’s challenging.”

They haven’t even seriously started on implementation with the engine yet for Cyberpunk. This is somewhat of a nothing article that’s trying to get clicks by making a very normal thing seem like a potential controversy.

Goronmon,

I don’t see where it’s trying to make it sound controversial. Switching game engines isn’t a “normal” thing developers usually do very often, especially after releasing such high-profile games with an in-house engine.

And with how often you see gamers demand developers “just use a different engine” to solve some specific complaint I think it’s reasonable to remind people why that isn’t usually a good idea.

@c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not completely uncommon for a company to transition to a new engine between games when one fails to provide a sufficient solution for where they want to take the sequels.

Or just if daddy EA decides everyone needs to use Frostbite.

Geek_King, do games w Capcom is worried that mods “offensive to public order and morals” will ‘tarnish’ the rep of their PC games

May as well try to prevent the tide from coming in by fighting it with your fists.

Kaldo, do games w Capcom is worried that mods “offensive to public order and morals” will ‘tarnish’ the rep of their PC games
@Kaldo@kbin.social avatar

Oh no, are we gonna see corporations go after mods now, under the guise of morality and public decency? Fuck offffff

Is the RPS writer a Star Citizen whale? Only Star Citizen victims fall for this shit.

masterspace,

I mean, most of the article is them clowning on how it will never be released.

Donebrach, do games w CD Projekt apologise for Cyberpunk 2077 Ukrainian script's potentially "offensive" references to Russians

    Enshrouded is the same. Made for multiplayer, but most play single player.

    Zahille7, (edited )

    And it’s kind of bullshit that there’s no real balancing for singleplayers.

    Each enemy takes a pretty big chunk of your health bar, and you can only attack so fast. They can and will attack faster than you, and sometimes even just stunlock you over and over until you just die and have to respawn. I want to enjoy the game, but I feel like I’m actively fighting against the brain grain when I play it.

    caut_R,

    @wirelesswire@kbin.run avatar

    Rajang was legitimately scary in MHW.

    spamfajitas,

    There were people spamming the devs with requests to make the game harder and saying it’s too easy.

    I voted for every response that said any additional difficulty changes should be optional, like how palworld/valheim have configurable difficulty.

    Zahille7,

    The fact that there are no world settings yet is kinda wild to me. There should absolutely be tweakable world settings in open world survival games

    Dark_Arc,
    @Dark_Arc@social.packetloss.gg avatar

    I play multiplayer so I can’t comment much on that … but remember this game is in early access. Like it just launched its early access last month. It’s not a complete game or even a 1.0 game.

    stringere,

    Get the blink upgrade that lets you break stun, huge help for the stun locking.

    MonkderZweite,

    No mods?

    Zahille7,

    There are only reshades on the nexus so far.

    Trust me, I looked lol.

    JigglySackles,

    Enshrouded has no plans for mods from what I’ve heard so far. Which basically killed the game for me. Not going to bother with it because there are some mechanics that would irritate me too much to enjoy the game. Mods would’ve fixed it.

    style99, do games w The Day Before studio say the game's downfall was thanks to "a hate campaign"
    @style99@kbin.social avatar

    From what I saw, the game died because:

    • tutorial was way too long and there was no easy way to find objectives
    • hostile locations were mostly barren
    • enemies were super easy to cheese

    All things the devs could have gone back and fixed, but they decided to abandon the game.

    UKFilmNerd, do gaming w Indiana Jones And The Great Circle is first-person, stealthy, and coming 2024
    @UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk avatar

    Maybe it’s a strong case of nostalgia but a first person Indiana Jones game doesn’t feel right. But on the flip side, if it was a true third person game, people would complain that it’s a clone of Uncharted and Tomb Raider despite Indy being the original.

    I have mixed feelings which make me happy as I don’t have an Xbox. 😁

    ConstableJelly,

    Exact same reaction. First person feels so inappropriate for this property that I immediately assumed comparisons to Uncharted and Tomb Raider must have been a, if not the, major contributing factor to going first person.

    First person perspective blurs the line between player and character for a specific type of immersion (when done well). An Indiana Jones game should be all about playing as motherfucking Indiana Jones, no blurred lines necessary. His stature and costume is integral to the formula that makes him iconic, and without them, the gameplay segments of this trailer make it look like Far Cry: The 80s Adventure Serial.

    UKFilmNerd,
    @UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk avatar

    The fact the Nazis are involved is obviously very cool considering it’s Indiana Jones but you can’t help (well me anyway) thinking that it is quite Wolfenstein-y.

    Conyak, do gaming w Unity say layoffs “likely” as they recover from disastrous pricing plan rollout and look to AI for growth

    So the CEO makes a shit decision, quits and leaves with his millions of dollars and now a bunch of employees get to lose their job. Capitalism is so disgusting.
