If they have the money for frivolous patents and lawsuits to maliciously tank a game better than theirs, I think they can afford better sticks.

I agree in principle, but it's a crutch that shouldn't substitute good code. It's like having a powerful car that runs sluggish, and then someone suggests that removing a couple seats could improve things.

I must say, this is an interesting collection of news!

Q: So, using Heroic I could launch Epic games without installing their launcher?

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

That's good! (although I shouldn't really try to make my backlog longer than it already is) I asked caused the FAQ wasn't very clear about it.

Pokémon games have become consistently ugly, and it's alright to wish they weren't (www.eurogamer.net)

It’s been a while since I looked at a main series Pokémon game and thought, “That looks nice.” This includes last week’s full reveal of Pokémon Legends Z-A, which going from the first bit of footage seems to feature a lot of hazy-edged grey rooftops, futurist UI, and eerily smooth NPCs, and not a lot of consistent,...

If they spent on bettering themselves, even half of what they employed to attack others..

@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Going on a little tangent here, but it made me think: how could someone start studying now to become, say, a game dev when in some years everything could go belly up because of these mega corps shitty moves? How could they in good faith spend time and money to develop skills for such an uncertain future?

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Sounds like the title of a cozy indie game 😄

Now wouldn't it be very funny if someone played those A LOT and get a little disconnected from reality and started killing Nazis for real? Just saying.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Don't know if it qualifies, but some time ago I saw a VTuber play "Suck Up!": you play as a vampire and you have to actually talk to try and convince NPCs to let you in so you can suck their blood. The "thinking" isn't done on your PC though, you push-to-talk your line and the answer is elaborated by their servers.

I may be wrong but Wukong itself looks a Souls knock-off, so I don't see the problem.

This. Also, China upset cause they're being copied? Pfft.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Chill, where did you get that I was 'equating the stance of al chinese people'? Even the title mentions 'China internet'.. it's like saying "France is in uproar at latest Macron speech".
I know it's funny and ironic, that's why I pointed out that they're upset at the alleged copying of an non-original game concept about a myth that's been already featured in a ton of other works.

In this regard, I like how in Genshin Impact there are places specifically made, where you can sit and chill, enjoying the view.

I'd normally agree, but that's the fifth Hitler I've killed, come on!

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Now wait, it's an interesting typo, the double meaning fits so well.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

IMHO it was a nice, but not worldbreaking gimmick, that was overhyped to sell. Like polygons count, like antialias, like monitor refresh rate... things that of course have their utility but over the years have been the target of marketing.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Well they gotta have the right balance, otherwise they'd end up be "open small town" instead of "open world"

@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Honestly I don't know if game map size has ever been THAT important, or a deal-breaker..

Are you a patient gamer? (kbin.melroy.org)

There's no magazine on any instance that I see of such a community on the topic matter. To anyone not familiar, a patient gamer is someone who is immune to FOMO, doesn't get caught up or tied up with current modern gaming. Someone who doesn't care that they've beaten a game from 1996 and here it is 2024. Someone who doesn't care...

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

There's also the kind of games where you can't wait, with the online-only ones, once the servers shut down, it's bye-bye forever.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

OP just wanted some racing games recommendations imho 😁

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

A group of Hololive Vtubers played it recently, and I noticed how some things appeared good while other worse, I guess it comes with such a long development time.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Did they ever finish the first? The fastest I ever uninstalled a game.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

I kinda wanted to play it, but it's Ubi..

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Get it on GOG, to avoid things like the recent shenanigans.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

At least they could put a wig, or fake nose+glasses..

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Who ever thought of this?? "Cheats are copyright infringement" is such a stupid sentence..
Not to forget the base line: if it's not in a competitive environment, what the hell do they care if someone wants to play an easier Elden Ring, or skip the 'grind 100 hours for this materials' part??

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org avatar

I used it a bit for FTL, but soon got bored.
