GrindingGears, (edited ) do gaming w Current PC is too bad for Cities Skylines 2. Can anyone judge the PCPartPicker list I've put together?

I think a DDR5 build at this point is the way to go, but I’d highly recommend getting a bigger power supply for future proofing. I’d also consider a slight bump in the video card. Definitely get a bigger power supply though, as I made that mistake doing a 2020 build, only could get a 2000 series NVIDIA GPU at the time, so I just stuck a 650W in as that’s all it needed. Then once shit calmed down, I decided to catch the 5800x3d discount wave with a 4070ti and I had to get a new power supply. Spend the extra 50 bucks now, rather than spending $150 down the road and cursing yourself the whole time as you have to essentially rewire your whole setup. I wouldn’t go lower than 850W these days, and that’s going to be overkill for your setup right now, but it likely won’t always be.

You’ll also need more RAM soon enough too, but that’s easy breezy down the road, allocate your money to something else right now. Just make sure to get it on two sticks and if your motherboard has four slots (pretty sure it does), you can always grab two more matching sticks on sale down the road. Problem solved.

Oh, get a better hard drive than that too, there’s a reason it’s so cheap (PCI3). Just grab a 1TB for about the same price, but a PCI4 one. This is also something thats super easy to update down the road, and you don’t need to worry about for a bit, as 1TB will probably get you through the next year at least.

Playing Path of Exile for the first time! I’m trying a Witch Elemental… Mischief build? I don’t really understand it at ALL and that feeling of being a newb is the most fun thing about it.

I really like this kind of discussion, I wanna see more discussion where community members are the voice as opposed to news where a journalist is the voice.

Animal Crossing with a super deep friendship system, where you play intricate minigames (like a full tennis sim) and go on adventures together.

I like all those kind of chill “X Simulator” games, but I’d love to see a bunch of them all combined into one mega-game.

So like if there was a game where you could find parts and build a PC like PC Building Simulator, and also build a vehicle like Car Mechanic Simulator, you could cover huge areas like American/European Truck Simulator, grow crops like Farming Simulator, build a shelter like Construction Simulator, keep the place clean like Powerwash simulator and/or House Flipper and so on.

It’d actually be really good for a post-apocalyptic type of game I think, where you could scavenge all that stuff and build a base.

Not released yet, but lots of people enjoyed the Demo for Manord Lords

Age of War. Was also the last browser game I ever played. Yes it’s old.

diep.io and only domination. Stopped going when they put that game mode on some stupid rotation.

I swear it looks like they straight up used the pre AC Unity engine, with upgrades…

Man I miss the Flash era.

I spent a ton of time in Kingdom of Loathing. I kept an old laptop that still had a flash enabled browser for a few months to play Bloons Tower Defense 4.

There was this game, I forget the name of it, but you had to build and drive little vehicles to overcome challenges. It was technically amazing for a Flash game, and I’d love to have it back.

lud,

Check out flashpointarchive.org for all the flashpoint games you could ever want.

Afrazzle,

The second one sounds like Incredibots!!

You could try installing gamesnacks.com as a pwa on their phone. They have a bunch of little games that I assume children would like.

This guy (Nimble Thor) developed an app called Mini Review, I’ve used it frequently.

Yes, Kittens Game! If you want to increase your enjoyment even more, use a simple line of javascript to increase the game speed:

Play pass is really good for games but my kids still constantly want shitty ad filled ones tbh.

Setting up adguard DNS worked really well but it can break games if they’re dependent on ads. Which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion.

sylverstream,

Yeah agreed, my kids have accepted that stuff doesn’t work if they rely on ads, and they are fine with it (after some initial batyles).
