SNES era RPGs like Final Fantasy, Lufia, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Star Ocean, etc. And once you’re done, move on to the equally worthy roster of PlayStation 1 era RPGs.
My favorite soundtrack ever, of course, is that of The Secret of Monkey Island (MT-32) by Michael Land. A lot of nostalgia there.
I also very much like the soundtrack to Dune by Stephane Picq. There’s an edition that combines the Adlib, Adlib Gold, and MT-32 versions which is “chef’s kiss”. Alternatively, I can recommend the Space Opera edition.
Strike Commander by Nenad Vugrinec on MT-32 is also great.
For chiptunes, I really liked Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 by Alex Mauer.
Or, for a real classic, Earthbound by Keiichi Suzuki and Hirokazu Tanaka.
If you go, pay attention to the schedule. They still run one steam loco per day, so two round trips, but most runs up and down the mountain are powered by the biodiesel fleet. The cog railroad dieselized to reduce operational & maintenance costs, and to reduce emissions. Parts for the steamers were getting hard to source, and while the coal smoke coming out of the steam locomotive makes for good photos, it’s not always the best image, if you know what I mean.
ETA: oh cool, it is! Still, probably going to wait for it to hit game pass - there’s more games on there that I want to play then time to play them, but if balatro gets on there I think it will move to the top of the list.
It’s on almost everything; I got it on Steam, works on my Deck and Mac perfectly. It’s really not demanding at all, and will be on mobile platforms soon.
My understanding is the media and projectors are heavily tied together with strict DRM. This is why you see cams with direct audio hookups, but not direct video rips
afaik audio hookups are recording of radio broadcasts for impaired not unauthorised rips of media used in cinema or recordings made using some tricks with wires and clamps.
Under Night In-Birth II [Sys:Celes] - I'm back on my bullshit again. Uzuki arc was fun, but when it comes time for bracket I gotta lock in. And by lock in, I mean still play like a clown.
Splatoon 3 - Didn't have too much time to practice this week, but had one good session. Really trying to work on more actionable callouts, coordinating with our specials and planning a push together rather than merely announcing things after they happen.
Persona 4 Golden - Still just post-Kanji dungeon. At the rate I am going I will finish this game... someday.
Summon Night: Swordcraft Story - Man, forgot how annoying it was that you have to always go for weapon breaks against bosses or else you miss their blueprint forever. Also, RHDN shutdown has me wondering, if/when the third game's translation patch ever gets finished, where do I even look to find out about it?
Slay the Spire - I can quit any time I want, I swear.
Mahjong Soul/Riichi City/IRL mahjong - Came dangerously close to losing my Master 1 rank on Soul, but got a few wins so I'm safeish now. I know I'm too reckless and I'm trying to work on that. I did play one of the best games I've had at club this week, had the discipline to fold several tempting hands and it turned out to be correct every time. Sometimes protecting second place through smart play is more satisfying than lucking into first.
