Try not to have an overly rosy retrospection about this. There were plenty of crappy, cash-grabby games in decades past. We just don’t remember them because they were crappy, cash-grabby, and not worth remembering. They hadn’t invented microtransactions yet, but that’s just one more flavor of crappiness.
Titanfall 2 was so good, I miss it. A lot of it’s slick movement mechanics show up in some of those modern “movement shooters” like Ultrakill for example.
Look I’m drunk I don’t understand what you’re talking about. I live in Japan, but pokemon has always been a mystery to me. There’s the Pikachu, there’s pokemon Go. It’s just a game. I also don’t understand this Lemmy business, I’m trying
Ravenlok is dope. It’s easy, and button-mashy, but my god the visuals and music make up for all of it. It swept me away. I think it would be especially fantastic for kids, but definitely enjoyable for adults to.
Valheim is great in single-player, to my surprise.
I like Redfall. ducks But seriously, I do. I like the big open world, the over-the-top vampire thing, the feeling of finding the best way to sneak up on the enemy and take them down. The guns feel satisfying to me. I get excited every time I find a better one. I’m curious where the story is going. Some of the set pieces and environmental storytelling moments are really cool.
I haven’t encountered many bugs at all. One time some enemies appeared out of nowhere, but honestly that just fit in with the vibe of the game anyway.
The AI is dumb, but… I’m finding I don’t care. They’re numerous and still manage to kill me sometimes. I’m ignoring it entirely the same way I ignore it in the original Deus Ex.
It’s not a Dishonored or a Prey, but it’s not trying to be, either. It’s great if you just want to explore an interesting map and do some sneaking and shooting and looting.
I’m obviously the minority in this opinion, but also, it’s on gamepass, so it doesn’t cost anything to try if you haven’t. I almost didn’t because of the reviews and I’m very glad I gave it a chance anyway.
I felt like Deltarune was a bit lacklustre compared to Undertale. Even though Undertale had very basic gameplay, it did a good job in implementing that. Deltarune feels too over the place. Undertale had a better story as well. Might just be me though. :ablobcatblink:
Baldur’s Gate 3 was pretty good - aside from the mega-thirsty player-sexual NPCs - but I’m replaying the originals now and enjoying them more. Didn’t play a single other game in this list!
I wish my wife could play subnautica with me, as she likes swimming around and stuff but isn’t really “good” at video games, since she never played one until adulthood.
In Minecraft it’s mostly me doing the work while she does farming stuff. I once came back from a deep mining trip to see a once-empty field filled to the maximum with cows. We had a nice library afterward though.
I still haven’t beaten subnautica without cheating or taking shortcuts. Heck when I first downloaded it, it didn’t even have an ending yet.
That’s how my girlfriend is too lol. I’m kind of the one handling all the mechanical stuff when we play while she handles everything non too mechanical. I think she could figure it out if she set her mind to it, but I’m more than happy to help her out.
For beating the game, I’m not sure I could beat it to begin with. I think I’d get sidetracked and lose track of the story, even though I have a feeling it’s not too long
Hideo Kojima rewrote parts of Death Stranding 2 late in development because the beta testers were unanimous in praising it. He said something along the lines of if nobody hated it, he was playing things too safe.
I also read something about him saying something like that in an interview. I’ve not seen much of the actual game, but ironically it has still been accused of being too safe, in spite of what Kojima said
I get what you mean but at the same time, it’s not that big of a deal. Because if a game that is really complained about seems good to me, I may still include it because the reviews arent managing to convince me. Though realistically, I may fail to catch that.
As for the opposite case, where a game that passes the review stage turns out to not be so bold, well… tough luck. I mean it could still be good and be safe, like Mario Kart 8, and that isnt really a problem I feel.
Not exactly: Make it less white (maybe a few shades darker) Or give the player themself the option to change the color of their choice (also colorblind friendly)
