If you are comfortable tinkering a bit, I’d recommend checking out the Decky loaderThis tool adds the ability to get a lot of different plugins for your steam deck, from changing the home theme, to editing fan controls. There are a lot of tools here.
If you want to emulate, emudeck is another great tool. It’ll set up a bunch of stuff for you and download emulators and set them up with good configurations for steam deck. I also believe if you do this, it will set up decky loader for you (don’t quote me on that, it’s been a while since I set it up)
For epic game store games, id recommend checking out Heroic launcher. It’s an open source launcher that connects to gog and epic games accounts and lets you download and play games you own on those stores. Another option is The non steam launcher tool on GitHub. This allows downloading a bunch of various launchers, including epic.
As for Xbox game pass, the situation is less ideal. If you have gamepass ultimate, you can utilize Xbox cloud gaming to play your gamepass games. This article is by Microsoft to set up cloud gaming on your deck. If you want to play then natively, you’ll need to dual boot your steam deck to have a windows partition. I have personally never done this, but I have friends who have, and it works well for them.
Been pretty happy with my month old Radeon RX 7800XT. 16GB VRAM, holds its own in Starfield and Cyberpunk (ooh the raytracing…), and haven’t had any issues with it.
Pretty much the 6800XT at a good price or a 6800. That is about it. A770 is good if you don’t play any older (like pre 2012) games and don’t mind some things breaking sometimes.
Maybe a 3070 16 gb version if you really really really need CUDA.
Not my GPU but my friend’s. He has nothing but good things to say about it. $600 USD which translates to ~£540, but obviously buying it over there the price might be different .
Turns out to be £616 on UK Newegg but that isn’t so bad, will need to check it’s compatible with my system and power draw isn’t too much, but thanks will look into this one!
I did eventually kill Matka. I did it while frail and actually died at the end and had to run back to claim the v-blood. It took entirely too many tries over a number of hours. The only pointer I have for anyone else struggling is to analyze the fighting arena and utilize the extra space available to the west of the boss area. Two sets of trees in that direction make the arena seem much smaller. My game’s difficulty is just regular. Nothing additional, and nothing less.
isthereanydeal.com lists only legitimate retailers, no second hand/grey market sites. Not exclusively Steam though, so check on the site before purchasing (though usually every website will be selling Steam keys except like Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, Ubisoft, EA Origin).
You can also link your Steam wishlist, set up alerts for when a game falls below a certain price, etc.
I finished Psychonauts for the first time a couple of months ago, and just started Psychonauts 2 last night. Only a couple of hours in, but really enjoying it so far.
Mostly Cities Skylines 2. The performance is not great, but it’s passable with the settings turned down and the actual city building is really good. Right now I’m working on a big expansion to my city further down the highway, just got the water/power lines run between them so it’s one big happy grid exporting the extra to other cities. Already looking forward to the things I’ll do differently in my second city!
Also playing some Super Mario Wonder on the side, which is fantastic. Great mix of easy fun levels and hard-as-nails secret special levels. Very fun!
Played Planetside 2 this weekend. I never tried it before and at first I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. Then I understood how to play and what to do and I enjoyed it very much. I’m not very good at it, but I play to have fun, not to be competitive.
Finally reached trails of cold steel II. Been playing every game accessible to me from the series by order of release. I think this is the halfway mark.
