Most games now have all the “qol” features that remove the need to communicate if that is even possible at all. It is a sad world we live in where everything has to go faster all the time. More dopamine per minute.
I also was in for the first couple of years in wow and even played Dark Age of Camelot before that and some Ultima online also. It was a different world back then. As a gamer I had all the time in the world to sink into these games. As an adult and a parent I got no time to sit down for hours upon hours to play like I did back then but I wish that kids that grow up today should have the same opportunity as I did to experience this.
I am also not a fan of building stuff and making it look nice. Just follow the easy rules to make a liveable cube and call it a day. That said I think terraria is the only game where I would consider actually spending some time making it look a bit nicer since it is so easy to do. I remember last time after completing the game I looked at some other peoples builds and got inspired.
I’ve been playing the things since Diablo I; I love the concept and the gameplay loop, but the game-design issues they run up against, and the mechanics that get implemented to address them… irritate the crap out of me over time, and I want to talk about that....
I think you should try “The slormancer”. It got the gear quality of life stuff solved. You can go pretty much any spec of whatever you want and make it work. Just have to work a bit to get there :)
Played shapes2 and it is really fun but for me it feels heavier. When i play some Factorio mods there are times when it gets overwhelming and shapes have the same problem for me. Takes a couple of days or weeks to recover.
Also the rebuild everything thing in shapes 2 is not really true. When you get a few hours into the game the stuff you deliver is stuff you want to deliver forever to gain operator levels. The secondary stuff that isn’t forever stuff is what makes me give up. Fatigue of rebuild or something… Good thing we are all different :)
Been playing this for a couple of months and I can say that the battery drain is next to nothing in my experience. No need to keep the app open to track steps.
I love this game. Made the walks with my kid more fun and longer. The fact that I only have to check the game once or twice a day depending on what I am doing is perfect.
Are there any good casual/low-stress mobile games that aren’t filled with microtransactions? For example: easy puzzle games, match-3 games, low-difficulty adventure games, or clicker-style games....
I only have like 1500 hours so i didn’t know there was a “perfect” setup for beacons. I always did a new design every time… Happy I never knew as it made it more fun.
This week i have been playing diablo 4 again. I just want one free cosmetic and I see it as an opportunity to notice how bad the game is right now since there is going to be huge changes in next season. Somehow I found the game to be pretty okay as long as I don’t have to look at loot.
Playing some elden ring also. My first (not completed) character a year ago was a mage and I always thought the game would be too hard for me in melee. I was so wrong and i am having much more fun playing melee. Doubt i am done before the expansion…
Then there are Guild wars 2 wvw raids every week \o/
Thanks for posting the video. Was a good watch and I will watch some more videos from that channel. Really good content.
I remember when I read about bg3 not happening back in the day and it made me sad. I wondered a lot about what could have been bit I had no idea it was going to be in 3d and the only pictures were concept art. It is sad when IP and legal stuff comes in the way of creativity etc. I am happy that BG3 exists today but it is not the same.
Got a NES with Mario and Gradius as a Christmas present. Opened the present with Gradius first and had no clue what it was but that would be the first game I ever played. Then running into the goomba in Mario like everyone did :)
The quality of life just keeps on coming, proper flipping is great, and core support for setting recipes through circuits is great - I’ve used mods to do just that many times before.
The first couple of FFF were interesting but now there are more niche things showing up. Don’t get me wrong, I like everything they make but I am not sure how much of it I will be using. I haven’t dug too much into circuits except the basics and flipping inputs will make me lazy. It was something you had to build around, being more creative. That’s my feeling right now but once I get the flipping I know I can’t live without it. Oh well. I can’t wait to sacrifice my family for this game… Again.
I hope they fix multiplayer. Played the story and some more with friends in 0.9 and the delayed map switching and other bugs we ran into killed it for at least one of us. Good thing that person still wants to give it another try at release.
So a couple months back I was randomly approached on Steam from someone claimed to be someone from a company called Maple Leaf Studio looking for playtesters for a game of theirs, and that because I had so many hours in Hades and Cult of the Lamb I’d be perfect for it....
UPDATE: Despite saying they were using SteamOS on the homepage, they’ve since clarified that it’s actually “an optimized version based on HoloISO”. HoloISO seems to be a community compiled version of SteamOS. It’s very similar but it’s not officially SteamOS....
I would have agreed with you here if it wasn’t for me having to reinstall my server because of a faulty harddrive. A couple of years ago I just remember headaches and silently screaming on Linux while fixing my server but this time, just a couple of months ago I tried another distro and it was awesome. Everything just works, just like windows. I am actually considering switching my gaming desktop to dual boot Linux because of this. Maybe one day…
When focus is on gameplay and fun instead of graphics, that is where the magic happens. I also enjoy my switch but it doesn’t get as much time from me as I wish. Them indie games on my pc sucking all the time but the same statement about joy is there. I have a beefy pc that can play all AAA titles but what do I do? I play the stuff I could play on a 10 year old pc because those games are the most fun for me.
And even today there are no other games that do PvP as well as DAoC did. I am playing guild wars 2 and that is as close an experience as I have found in any newer mmo.
I don’t have too much time to play because of parental duties but every second I have goes to this game now. Looking forward to the next time I can sit down and play a map, solving the puzzle, gaining some resources for meta progression. It is so good.
As someone who doesn’t have too much time any more because of family it is the total opposite for me. If I would play and die I would just stop. Back in the days I always played hardcore but now I don’t see the point in seeing your time spent just evaporate into northing but memories. I do usually try to get as far as possible without dying so I play as if I would play hardcore but without the deletion stuff if I would die.
With that said I know that it is much more interesting to play hardcore for some people and they can’t see the fun in playing without the extra challenge of never dying.
First or third person, preferably 3D. No post-apocalyptic games unless it’s a post-apocalyptic scenario in nature. Also it must have a singleplayer mode. Does anyone know any games like this?

I don’t really understand how people make the review threads, but we’re sitting at a 77 on OpenCritic right now. They originally had a battle pass and cash shop, but after backlash they’re moving away from that model and will have all cosmetics earned by playing the game. Exciting news!
You can enjoy it 100% solo. The only place you see others that you never have to interact with is the hub. There is nothing in the game that force you to do anything with others or even suggest that it is multiplayer except some skills that mention allies (but works on yourself too). If that is too much I don’t think the game is for you anyway.
The 2020 launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was terrible. Anticipation reached a point that no reasonable game could meet. Cyberpunk could have potentially grappled with those lofty expectations, but the major problem was its technical proficiency – or lack thereof. Despite the game getting good reviews (a product of press only being...
This. I expected that walls were breakable and more interesting gear/level system in a world full of life. I had fun with the game since I did a lot of the hacking stuff which is a bit different from anything I have played.
I will revisit the game with the new patch since I have got a new graphics card since then and not tried a single raytracing game since then. Also looking forward to the updated skilltrees. % stuff is really boring and lazy design.
Over the years, there’ve been various red flags in gaming, for me at least. Multi-media. Full-Motion Video. Day-One DLC. Microtransactions. The latest one is Live Service Game. I find the idea repulsive because it immediately tells me this is an online-required affair, even if it doesn’t warrant it. There’s no reason for...
I just stopped buying main stream games for the most part. Indie games is where it is at. Often better gameplay loop and comes at a better price and I would rather see my money going to creative people instead of some greedy CEO.

I played all current dlcs and the base game on separate occasions alone and with my friends and the game never really clicks for me. I don’t know what it is but it never got as fun as many other arpgs for me. Doubt that I will look at this new expansion as it feels I could have more fun spending my time with another game instead. Kind of weird as I have over a hundred hours and like the game genre but… Yeah.
