Happy new year!

This week I finished the Endwalker MSQ in ffxiv, which I loved. I’m now taking a break before going into the post ew patch quests to complete most raids which I slipped and a few other quests, while leveling white mage.

Played a bit more of Guild Wars 2 with a friend, but continuing only confirmed our negative first impressions, so we dropped it a bit after the first set of story missions.

For non videogames: we also continued our dnd campaign and played call of cthulhu’s Lightless Beacon

This is more arcadey, but I recommend giving Cave Story a go. The story is rich, the worlds deep. It’s a great game. It’s not the same genre, but for me, it has a similar vibe.

Man this pots brought back some memories. The minis cup was my first “real” game on my Gameboy.

Not a fan of the look of the shop. Perspective and scale is strange

Psionicsickness,

You should give it a try! Great hidden gem!

I used to run 7 instances of Ultima Online at once so I could play all my characters at the same time.

I just buy whichever game i enjoy playing when it’s on sale only to never actually getting to play it.

Life is a matter of you either have the time, money or energy. But never all.

I have the money now but not the energy, i just pass out the moment i get home and playing games just gets postponed until i get time off.

Dariusmiles2123,

Sorry for you as it sounds really sad.

I hope it’s just temporary and you’ll find a more comfortable balance soon.

CrowAirbrush,

Thank you for the compassion, i’m hoping too.

Currently looking for a different job.

Try F-Droid, there’s some good quality games in their listing, and it’s a lot more transparent than the Play store.

There’s also a lot more indies (whether new or old) that have made it to mobile, like Stardew Valley, Terraria and Dungeon Clawler, so it’s worth checking out the “premium” category on the Play store to find some decent games too

P4ulin_Kbana,

Nah. There are few games on F-Droid, and most of them haven’t been updated in years. But could you please list some of them?

TeMccm2ZgLSE,

I play a lot of Shattered Pixel Dungeon. There is an unofficial release on f-droid

Check out MiniReview, I’ve had better luck there finding game of certain types that I’d enjoy.

Mini_Moonpie,

Seconding this recommendation. You can find it on the Play store here: play.google.com/store/search?q=mini review&c=apps…. And, you can find the website here: minireview.io

Emulators are where it’s at on Android, at least for me. There’s a handful of good native android games but you can play so so many fantastic old games using emulators.

Here’s a thorough guide on setting it up:

retrogamecorps.com/…/android-emulation-starter-gu…

And a link for ROMS collections:

r-roms.github.io

It seems like a lot to take in just to play some games but I promise it’s easier than it looks to get up and running.

No Man’s Sky.

InFerNo, do games w How many games do you manage to play at the same time?

So many, depends on the booted OS and what I feel like or what the kids feel like playing.

Currently doing a mix of Quake 2 single player (100%ed it on nightmare but I keep coming back to it), Half-Life deathmatch (hilarious with the kids as we try to lay out traps for eachother), Reflex Arena, Planetside 2, Age of Empires 2, OpenRA, Fortnite (kids love it so I play along), Ion Fury, Fallout 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Last 3 are story modes, so they take long. Only Ion Fury is linear though, so it’s easier to come back to.

Check out the site dark pattern games, it shows a list of games and their “dark” side like money and time wasters. They also show the “healthy” side of mobile gaming as well
