What’s a good game for soccer (football for non Americans don’t jump down my throat please) these days? I mostly play the PS2 madden games when I need my sports game fix, and there are plenty of mods to bring those up to date
the answer is, Fifa (now ea sports fc). there’s a reason that it’s the only game in town when it comes to the most popular sport on the planet. For all it’s many many faults around ethics, it’s far and away the “best”
The security was shit on some editions. There was one, that you could close the prompt for CD key in a way and just play online with a pirated copy.
Plus idk I haven’t played a lot but to me single player against the machines was enjoyable, well tl be fair I didn’t have much people to play with plus I am terrible at it so maybe that’s why.
It’s licensing terms. FIFA was asking for double its $150 million licensing fee to allow Electronic Arts to continue using its name.
FIFA doubling the license cost is clearly bullshit. EA has decided that the FIFA brand in their game is not worth $300 Million, and the existing license requires them to discontinue sales once the license expires.
Can’t really blame EA for saving $300 Million for something that doesn’t really matter, especially when it used to cost half that. This 100% is FIFA being greedy, as usual.
At the end of the day, both FIFA and EA are horrible companies. No one should be giving them any money whatsoever.
The reality of things is that we all know that EA will launch their own brand, publish the re-badged FIFA titles under it, and then continue farming mtx money from people, who have no self-control
I was just hoping for more cyberpunk style corporate warfare. I mean a gambling company and a corrupt monopoly decide to fight? Where are the bombings of corporate headquarters? You can't tell me they can't recruit a bunch of mercs to try and save them that 150 million.
It would matter more if PES/WE were still popular. Those games were superior to FIFA for many iterations but the lack of official clubs and players was a big barrier of every for most
Man, bear with me as I’m about sound like an absolute corporate cuck but I interned at EA during my undergrad and had a really positive experience. The work-life balance was probably the best I’ve experienced in a corporate setting.
I still won’t buy their games due to shitty monetization practices, but at least some of the profits (for the EA office I worked at) are actually funnelled into their employee’s compensation. Can’t really say that for FIFA’s oil bribes.
I can’t wait to try out part 3 for 2 hours before deciding this still isn’t for me.
I want a good and immersive Jedi game so bad. These games just feel like you’re in an amusement park that’s channelling the game you want but not really trying to deliver it, it’s just a vehicle to get to the next bouncy mushroom or conveniently placed wall jump.
Good! Love the games. I just hope on the third one they actually finish developing the game before release.
Jedi Survivor just finally got finished after releasing 5 months ago. What I mean is they just released an update that makes performance mode run really well. Prior to this update, it ran horribly. So much so that despite buying on day one, I flat out refused to play it until it got fixed. And thank goodness it did because it’s a wonderful game and I’m really enjoying it.
Let’s not forget how the bounty hunter missions were completely broken, to the point that you couldn’t even start the quest line at any point in the game. I beat the whole game wondering “what the fuck is that big area in the pause menu that’s still locked?”
Also, you still can’t unlock the third garden on Pyloon’s roof in some saves (mainly mine).
I couldn’t give less of a shit about performance bugs, but the fact that core content in the game is still locked because of fucking trigger bugs is mind bogglingly embarrassing.
Still loved the game, though - my favorite game of 2023 (not saying it was the best of 2023, I just really liked this one).
I found Cal Kestis to be the most generic sounding and looking Star wars character. The games are fun but I found myself uninterested in him as a character
I agree with you, he’s kind of a blank slate.
I think that works for a video game though.
It’s also refreshingly NOT the chosen one or blood line thing that’s a bit overdone in Star Wars.
(Crossing my fingers he’s not secretly a long lost Skywalker, Palpatine or Kenobi relative)
Many stories introduce the protagonist in their prime, or when they’re at their most interesting, then eventually release an origin story.
The first game felt like an origin story for a dude I didn’t know. (Haven’t played the second game yet)
My guess (hope) is he’ll feel more interesting as he gets more exposure and character development as games come out and we kinda get to see him grow as we play.
Yeah I get what you're saying about him being a blank slate. I guess I'm just tired of generic white dudes as being the definition of blank slate. I hope he does get more interesting, I found the other characters far more fun to follow than Cal
Yea for sure, he could have been a blank slate without being as bland or generic. By that I absolutely don’t mean to imply the actor is any of these things, but that they played it safe in character design.
Expecially in a universe of endless aliens.
It’s not even a choice that has to be limited between our own human heritages.
First and foremost, if Itsuno-san doesn’t have time to be the director of the game, it can’t really get made. So having an opportunity to have him spend the time he needed on the game and being able to bring together the other resources needed, such as a large team to work on a game with this scope, just took some years for that all to really fit together. And then once it did, we got started.
