Maybe this will be the actual sale I pull the trigger on Sonic Frontiers I said I wasn’t going to spend any money on games for a while but I really sonic and they seemed to have nailed this one.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w Bethesda is once again adding support for paid mods to Skyrim

On the one hand I'm not opposed to mod creators getting paid for their work. There are a lot of great Skyrim mods, released and upcoming, that I wouldn't mind paying for. Total conversions like Enderal, giant content expansions like Beyond Skyrim, and especially a lot of the great companion mods. The pay what you want option seems like a good way to let people support mod creators while not creating a paywall. On the other hand I just don't trust Bethesda to deal with all of the issues this is going to create and it's hard to see how it doesn't end up negatively impacting the wider modding community.

Caligvla, do games w Grim Dawn Version v1.2.0.0 coming November 16th!
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

God damn, that’s a meaty update. Active dodges, no more health potions, loot drop rebalance… I’m super intrigued.

silverchase, do games w Steam Beta: Wider store pages; Video support for written game descriptions

Good. The slow death of the gif continues.

Spoomis, do games w John Wick Hex will be removed from sale on all platforms beginning July 17th, 2025

Is it worth picking up before it’s removed?

Kolanaki, do games w Steam Introduces In-Game Performance Monitor
@Kolanaki@pawb.social avatar

I wonder if this will let me see if framegen is being used in games that don’t have an explicit option to turn it on or off… 🤔

anon232,

If you use AMD, the performance overlay on windows shows whether framegen is active or not.

I’ve been using game bar but I guess this might be less obtrusive?

mnemonicmonkeys, do games w The Long Dark - Visual Enhancement Update - Now Live!

Reminder to everyone that these are the same devs that raised a giant stink when GeForce Now released and originally let you stream any game that you already owned through Steam.

And in case anyone needs clarification: they wanted to force players to buy two copies of the game just to stream it. Don’t support bad behavior like this.

Last played this in 2018 apparently, time to give it another go!

strongarm, do gaming w Splitgate 2 finally playable on regular desktop Linux PC (May 26, 2025 Update)

Cool, any word on how the game stacks up to the first one? Is there much reason to try it if you bounced off?

thingsiplay,

I have yet to play, only did the tutorial for quick testing. So I don’t speak from personal experience, but from what I read so far.

Its more or less like the Splitgate 1. But they have a new game engine to better support and work on it (that’s why its a new entry in series, instead an update). Some people say they don’t like the hero abilities they added into. I don’t know to what extend this is and how game dependent these are. But one huge plus point to me is a map creator for the community. One of the biggest issues I had in game 1 was that not enough content and maps were available.

On the negative side is, that there is a Battle Pass. At least for me this is negative, but the game is Free to Play. I assume everyone who liked the first game will like this one too, but can’t be sure right now. They also seem to have too many players for their servers.

Splitgate 1 is Halo movement and gunplay + Portal.

Splitgate 2 is Apex Legends movement + Halo gunplay + Portal.

It feels really smooth, and the production quality is definitely higher, but somehow I prefer the simplicity of Splitgate 1.

CaptainBasculin,

I liked it.

If you’re used to splitgate 1 binds, would heavily reccomend to adjust controls to set left and right portal binds instead of being forced to use one button. Other than that, I really liked it. The powerup idea seems broken when you first see it, but all of them feel counterable with portal play.

chrislowles, do games w Steam will soon start making it easier for players to search for games based on accessibility features
@chrislowles@lemm.ee avatar

Any time I leave my library I’m reminded how aggressively meh Steams search functionality is, they have all this info and barely any of it is even utilized in things let alone in features like Collections. Also I hope since they’re looking into stuff like this they add DRM to their options for Dynamic Collections.

Godnroc, do games w Shadows of Doubt v1.0 is Out Now!

Awesome, that game was quite fun in early access. I’ll have to install it again.

Master, do games w 7 Days to Die is leaving Early Access

I wish they would bring back the game settings that gave us the major customizations.

Oh wow. I remember a friend being into this forever ago. Had no idea it was still in early access. That’s nuts!

RickyRigatoni, do gaming w Bethesda is once again adding support for paid mods to Skyrim
@RickyRigatoni@lemmy.ml avatar

I am not paying extra so that Bethesda can push the burden of fixing their 12 year old broken game that I already paid full price for onto random people.

I will be pirating paid mods and you will not change my mind.
