Siethron, do gaming w Many are worth checking out

I loved ff1. But I can no longer find an instance of it that plays like the original, the phone remakes don’t feel right.

Twinklebreeze,

Emulate it.

BirdEnjoyer, (edited )

With Final Fantasy Restored. Its definitely worth revisiting old favorites with As Intended/QoL updates.

But I can see why they are hesitant to replay the original as is, because it can be a bit rough.
Yet so charming. And its hard to keep one without losing the other in the rereleases

mephiska,

A cheap retro-handheld can scratch that itch pretty easily. Miyoo Mini Plus, RG35XX H or plus, even a RG300X can run FF1 great.

Alpha71, do games w How Do You Deal With Thumb Stick Drift?

get something with hall effect sensors.

mnemonicmonkeys,

I like my Gulikit Kong Pro controller. It has an xbox-style layout when you swap around the face buttons and has hall effect sensors

Like a Dragon 8: Infinite Wealth

I’m 25 hours in and barely touched the main story. Once they let me roam around I did nothing but side content. Just yesterday I got access to the “Pokemon” League and I see myself not touching any story content for another 5 hours. It’s great.

samus12345,
@samus12345@lemmy.world avatar

Loved the game. I just did the main story and side stories as it’s the plot and characters I play Like A Dragon games for; I wasn’t interested enough in the Sujimon or Dondoko Island stuff to get into it. And no way am I paying extra to do New Game Plus!

It’s why I stopped buying physical games, I’ll just pirate everything if they take away my digital library.

dangblingus,

You stopped buying physical copies of games because they stopped putting manuals in the box? How is that better?

Finally playing Dave the Diver after getting recommendations from everyone I know since it came out. “Dive for fish and make sushi.” Seemed pleasant enough but I didn’t get why people talked about it in the same tone as like, Stardew Valley.

I get it now.

@smort@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve played through the whole thing and maxed out my restaurant. I’m still not sure how to describe why it’s so engaging for me.

I think Stardew didn’t hit with me because there were too many mechanics. But Dave is just so light and joyful!

RinseDrizzle,

I should dive back in to that one.

Rimworld

Open Transport Tycoon

Spaceinv8er,

Rimworld is one of those games I’m addicted to for like 2 weeks non-stop.

Then once I have 30 colonists and they can’t even keep the floor clean cuz I have too many things going on, I’m done because i know I’ll never “finish” anything. Even though every time I start that game I tell myself I’ll finally build the spaceship this time.

diannetea,

Nobody builds the spaceship. Nobody I know has ever built the ship, unless they were playing the save our ships mod (I think that’s the mod name IDK I don’t use that one) but then that’s not end game

I just accepted that I will only ever lose and it’s fine

MeanEYE,
@MeanEYE@lemmy.world avatar

It’s the most underwhelming finale in any game I’ve played. Completely pointless. You work your ass off to establish economy which can sustain building of a ship and then once you are done defending it, you get a black screen saying good job grunt. If they connected it with new game, say what you left the planet with is your new starting gear, then I could see it being more relevant. Kind of set it up for mods with extreme planets and stuff. So you have to prepare on more acceptable planet before going somewhere extreme. The way it currently is makes ending pointless.

Escape from Tarkov. I got out of the cycle, the real escape

Vlyn,

I got out of the cycle when I finally realized how many cheaters there are. Worthless to play an extraction shooter under those circumstances. www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5LfGcDB7Ek

KoalaUnknown,

The problem is that there is no alternative. Every other game fails to give me the dopamine rush that tarkov can. So I probably won’t escape anytime soon, even if it means spending thousands more hours dying to blatant cheaters.

SilentRampage34,

I too still crave a game that gives the same rush Tarkov used to. But cheaters, poor servers, bad match times and just plain annoying design decisions aren’t worth hoping on every wipe. I actually had a good time with single player for a while, and I might try some more when it updates to the next major patch

Nougat, do gaming w This is what 11 years of usage to to a mouse. RIP my baby, hello baby's brother (I bought it somewhere 2014 after I fell in love with the first one)

Somewhere around here I have the HP optical mouse that used to come with their desktops. It finally quit working and I had to replace it, and I had to do the math for how long I had been using it.

Twenty years.

Good choice buying the second for backup. As a console game pr I know nothing about mouses, but I would assume they don’t make this anymore after a decade.

CH3DD4R_G0BL1N,
@CH3DD4R_G0BL1N@sh.itjust.works avatar

They won’t make them and people will either be selling your old fave model new or (not really) lightly used for about $500 if it was at all popular. Always buy a backup once you’re in love

SatansMaggotyCumFart,

I bought all seventeen that was in stock for my last favourite mouse.

First one lasted eight years so I’ve got a lifetime supply and some backups.

Me and my partner were playing overwatch, the other team had a roadhog who was tearing through us and constantly typing 'ez'.
So me and my partner switched characters to counter, you know, as you're supposed to.
Then we steamrolled that team and hog was then screeching 'try hards!'
Like seriously dude. Take the L and just leave quietly. Or switch character to counter us?

B.bbbb-but if I see it then I might catch The Gay! We all know that the moment you see or hear anything even remotely related to lgbtq+, you checks flash cards immediately burst into dance while singing Queen and waving a pride flag.

I play a woman named Vala (Mal Doran) or Adria in 99% of the games that let me customize. Because every other game I’ve played is always a generic male character doing generic action things.
