I play new stuff all the time, but currently what I’ve been rotating through is
Chivalry 2: played the first one competitively and fortunately the second one is a lot of the same concept so many skills transfer easily. It’s a fun game once it clicks.
Thronefall: a newer game revolving around base building and surviving waves of enemies while balancing economy and defense
Pseudoregalia: an incredibly fun platformer/metroidvania style game with really really tight and enjoyable movement controls.
For mobile, I’ve been stuck in Magic Survival, and Orna since my job requires a lot of walking so those pedometer games are worth my time now.
After playing Final Fantasy XVI and Trails into Reverie back to back, I needed a palate cleanser that wasn’t a 60+ hour JRPG before Sea of Stars comes out. So I picked up The Entropy Centre, a first-person physics puzzler where you have a gun that can rewind time.
It borrows its aesthetics from Portal and its puzzle structure from The Talos Principle, and while it doesn’t reach the heights of either, it’s still pretty satisfying to work through. It’s a bit on the easy side, probably because thinking in reverse requires you to hold a lot of stuff in your head at once so the developers were hesitant to put in anything too diabolical.
Gave Underrail another go after a dropped attempt years ago. After I heard that looking up a build is the only way to really get into the game, I tried that and I get it now. Pretty fun and engaging! Other than that, Battlebit with the buddies. I want the L96 so bad
Valheim. Just crafted iron scale armor for the first time with my wife and it looks bad-ass as fuck. If we weren’t playing this I’d either be playing STALKER (as usual) or taking a second stab at The Witcher 3.
What defined Ego shooters for me wasn’t doom but unreal tournament. Played a lot of it when I was younger. I liked to just mentally check out and play this game on high speed which put me in flow-mode. There wasn’t too much strategy to it. Just know the map, run around and kill stuff with fast reflexes. I was really good at it. Beat all my friends on LAN-parties.
There was ammo but no reloading and that was absolutely fine. Made for some amazing mmmonster-Kills to not have to reload.
My favorite weapon was the flak-Canon with it’s shotgun-style primary attack that suited my jump-around-and-be-on-the-move-constantly Playstyle. The secondary attack was like a grenade and very handy for AOE or when people were following you.
Nowadays I don’t really want to play egoshooters anymore after having worked 8 hours+ on the computer. Stresses me out. Especially multiplayer where I would have to train to be able to keep up.
I played five hours or so untill I accidentally caught two trolls humping each other. They were embarrassed. I asked them to continue. Sadly failed the dice roll so they akwardly left. 10/10 game for me.
I picked up my Elden Ring save again and finally got the courage to tackle General Rhadan yesterday and sucessfully beat him. Now I got a few quests to fulfil ans find the second medallion half to get to the lift.
Other than that I’m playing Sniper Elite V4 for the first time, which is fun to play for a few hours a day.
Just waiting for Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew to release next week :)
