EuroNutellaMan, do games w Currently downloading The Witcher 3 for the first time. Got any advice for me?
@EuroNutellaMan@lemmy.world avatar

Ignore the advice you saw in this thread, except for the one about trying the DLCs, and enjoy the game however you wanna play it. Romance both options if you want, be a terrible dad if you’re so inclined, etc. Have fun, it’s your first playthrough so enjoy it unspoiled ane cherish it, you will love it and go for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and maybe even more runs and you can minmax things later on in these runs.

The only thing I’d say you shouldn’t do is skip the dialogue and cutscenes, and sidequests. This game has a very well-crafted story (which is the main attraction) and that goes also for the sidequests so enjoy them fully.

For OP, and anyone else that wants to play this version of Runescape again, but fully offline and mobile (you can run it off a USB)!

2009scape

A_Very_Big_Fan,

It’s also online and on mobile lol. If you want new content and QoL updates

LucidNightmare,

I corrected my comment. I was talking about a fully open source version. This version does have online, and I’m sure some QoL, but I feel like you were thinking I was talking about the actual Jagex game. :)

MonkderVierte,

Wait, how is this legally possible?

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve worked a few times on similar projects, but I haven’t read into anything about how it works so don’t take my word as fact, but my assumption is that it’s rewritten from scratch so no code from Jagex is being used

MonkderVierte,

No, i meant, Jagex didn’t protect their style, assets?

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

Ohhh. Fair enough. I hadn’t considered the assets and style. I wonder how they did it too then

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

In a forum talking about the new pricing someone else mentioned this as an alternative to a premium account. I keep meaning to give it a look at some point.

Road_Warrior_10, do games w Based on true events

For context the game is called […steampowered.com/…/Do_Not_Press_The_Button_To_De…](Do Not Press The Button) and a wishlist would be greatly appreciated. I’m currently working hard on it and I would say that it’s 99% done, but I like to joke that rest of the work (polishing and bug fixing) is another 99%

daddy32,

Aaa, the one temporarily featuring Hitler toaster ;)

Lonesome Road is such a great, atmospheric journey. My only problem with it is Ulysses never stops talking!

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I enjoyed his conversations, but I can get why people may find it annoying. He jumps in so much. And a couple of times it was right before combat too so afterwards you were flung straight into combat.

I wish I knew my first ever Dead Money playthrough that I could spare Dean. Didn’t know that he’d get pissed off if you pass any skill checks with him. I was kinda surprised when he wanted to kill me because I clearly didn’t pick up on him wanting me dead.

ik. I thought me and him were on good terms

Amateurs indeed. How the hell are you supposed to finish the game when you lost nearly all you lives in the underwater dam level???

Love modded Minecraft, especially the kitchen sink packs from the 1.12 days.

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I’m a sucker for ye olde Attack of The B-Team and Tekkit. But usually I play 1.16.5 since none of my friends really like those mod packs

tacosanonymous,
@tacosanonymous@lemm.ee avatar

Nice! I like some packs for that era of release. Create is my weak point but I like what it can do.

I was big on ftb hermitpack, mc eternal, and sky adventures.

I’ve been playing atm 9 on a much more recent release.

BmeBenji, do games w What are your favorite racing games?

I’m a huge fan of Burnout Paradise. The crash physics and cameras are so addicting that I’ll drive up and down the same street just flipping my car on its roof using the same split ramp just to see the carnage. The driving is a wonderful arcadey feel that makes insane turns easy to pull off, and the crashes make those insane turns addicting to completely fail.

Many people say the early Burnout games are better, but I’ve never played them and Paradise has remained entertaining for 17 years

FordBeeblebrox,

Every time I hear Paradise City I see the loading screen, nostalgia for those early days with the 360 camera that gave you a drivers license. Good times and it still holds up, my gf had never played it and had a great time smashing barriers the other day.

DrowningInteger,

I love Burnout Paradise. I used to load up the game and just drive aimlessly for hours.

Zortrox, do games w People seem to really dislike Destiny 2. Why haven't they ended it yet?
@Zortrox@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

I’m a bit surprised nobody mentioned the kernel-level anti-cheat, especially with Lemmy being a very security/privacy-centric place. That was implemented years after people spent money on the game and then basically stole the game/content unless you agreed to a huge change to the policy.

I stopped playing because they implemented that. There’s zero reason for that to ever be a thing in order to just play a game. Especially with the amount of machine-learning we have on what is and isn’t possible for humans to do, detection is completely possible server-side.

daggermoon, do games w Day 61 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots

This looks neat, what’s the game called?

don,
@don@lemm.ee avatar

Fallout: New Vegas, with Old World Blues add-on, I believe.

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I forgot to put the game title in the post like I usually do. My bad

daggermoon,

Ah, I should have guessed. A classic I have yet to experience. Hopefully I’ll get around to it soon. I’m told it’s tons of fun.

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

It’s worth picking up imo. Especially when it goes on sale for like 5$

NaibofTabr, do games w What are your favorite racing games?

Crash Team Racing is the pinnacle of kart racing games. The driving is more skill-based than the leading brand name, and it doesn’t have shitty rubber-band AI.

Star Wars Episode 1 Racer is still great fun, easy to learn but hard to be good at.

Nothing compares to F-Zero GX. The abandonment of the franchise is a travesty, and should be considered abuse of the gaming community.

kratoz29,
@kratoz29@lemm.ee avatar

Crash Team Racing is the pinnacle of kart racing

Where do you play it? Your comment kinda made me want to play it in my Switch.

NaibofTabr,

I’m playing the remake on PS5. I think they did a pretty nice job with the graphics upgrade, and with the new tracks.

xan1242,

I’d recommend getting a proper controller for it. CTR is a dpad and shoulder button masher.

kratoz29,
@kratoz29@lemm.ee avatar

Hmm, such as?

I only have the Pro controller and the joycons.

xan1242,

Yeah I meant don’t use joycons lol

Pro Controller at the very least. CTR is a game that should be played with a dpad for steering. You can use the analog inputs but some more advanced tricks (such as tight steering) will require a solid dpad.
