Assetto Corsa Competizione (Sim), if you like GT track racing.

Is it much of a surprise when it comes to MiHoYo? Their entire model is based around this kind of thing.

etchinghillside, do games w Do people actually starve themselves to play games like World of Warcraft?

Some people that play MMOs rely solely on government disability as an income.

echodot,

I’ve seen how much people get on disability, I don’t understand how it would even be possible to live on it. It’s barely possible to live on it when people are using it to buy food, pay rent and stuff they need. To buy food and games, no chance, they must have some other supplemental income, even if it’s just from sympathetic family members.

etchinghillside,

EBT/SNAP could be used for food. But you’re correct - the cases of this I’ve come across with guild members it seems they are paired up with an equally not thriving SO or are in a relatives spare bedroom.

I have too many Half-life games and mods installed and refuse to remove them to make room for other, larger, games.

Now I will have to try the bucket%.

Good luck. Maybe you’ll figure out a way to get the bucket past the teleporter. I’d love to see how far this thing can actually be taken

Joseph Anderson has made a similar trolley challenge. It’s a cinematic masterpiece: https://youtu.be/RgqRIFj4Zrk

This isn’t 2D… I think of Mario or Sonic as 2D, what’s this though, isometric?

Oh yeah. You’re right. I guess I associate this with being 2D because of all the 2D sprites it uses

turkalino, do games w How did Call of Duty get to this point?

The current COD (MW3/Warzone) is my guilty pleasure. It crashes during 50% of my play sessions, the player/weapon skins are cringe, the battle pass is pushed pretty hard, but somehow I’m able to ignore all of that and have a lot of fun with it. Warzone is my personal favorite battle royale implementation and MW3 is a nostalgia trip with all the remade maps from past games.

Admittedly, half of my enjoyment comes from playing with my clan from the Xbox 360 days and feeling like we’re in high school again, so playing alone might not be so fun

accideath, do gaming w NES

I know too many people for whom „a Nintendo“ means a Nintendo DS. Perhaps a generational thing.

AI_toothbrush,

Same for me and most people i know a nintendo is a ds(and the ds and 3ds are kinda the same for most of them)

Blackmist,

There are undoubtedly people out there who still use “Nintendo” to describe literally any videogame system ever made.

dejected_warp_core,

It absolutely is.

As a kid, everyone’s parents (boomers) called NES cartridges “tapes”. Considering their generation had a lot of experience with 8-track, cassette, and VHS/Betamax, it kind of makes sense. I guess every generation has this.

accideath,

Yea, for my dad, everything you use a controller with is a PlayStation and every handheld is a gameboy. Funnily enough, he never had either one and I also didn’t have a PlayStation until I have moved out. The only noteable difference for him is the Sega Master System, because he did have that as a child.

tiredofsametab,

everyone's parents (boomers) called NES cartridges "tapes".

My parents were very much boomers and I've never heard this. It was 'games' or 'cartridges',

RabbitMix, do games w How did Call of Duty get to this point?

Right now it’s open to anyone who pre-ordered or anyone who has game pass. it’s open to everyone for free next week. maybe they should have called it limited instead of open, but it isn’t closed to anyone, anyone can get game pass and play the beta rn so it is technically an open beta.

and why are people playing CoD? because it’s really solid gameplay that recieves weekly updates and events to always keep things fresh. the new movement system in this one is really a game changer and makes the game a lot of fun to play.

Dashi,

What’s the new movement system in this one?

ObsidianZed,

I believe they’re referring to the slide and dive mechanics. AFAIK considering this is the first game I’ve played in awhile, you can now sprint, slide, and dive in any direction.

Think like strafe sprinting and diving around a corner as you turn your aim around behind you to shoot at someone you just dove passed.

Dashi,

Thank you, I wonder how smooth that is going to pay on a controller.

RabbitMix,

it works surprisingly great on a controller

“I like to preorder my groceries. I know they’re going to have what I want, they always do, but I just give them a few hundred in advance to make sure they’ll still have some when I get there.”

Same logic.

Nurgus,

Let me introduce you to the concept of a supermarket Christmas savings club. You basically pre-order Christmas groceries with them.

metro.co.uk/…/supermarket-christmas-saving-scheme…

radicalautonomy,
@radicalautonomy@lemmy.world avatar

Of course the joke is that, when pre-ordering games, they don’t usually deliver what they promise. With pre-ordering Christmas groceries, Tesco will.

Nurgus,

Tesco probably will but plenty of Christmas club companies have gone bust and left people without their order. Even companies as big as Tesco can get in a mess, it’s not like they hold the stock for you in advance.

xeekei, do gaming w Just one more time

I “pre-ordered” Mass Effect Andromeda like 10 min before the real release, since pre-orders got a discount and the offer was still active.

Lightor,

This is the way.

I usually pre order a day before IF there have been reviews and such. At that point I still have plenty of time for a steam refund and the reviews have given me some level of confidence.
