What is this animation style called? It’s the same style as in World of Warcraft and Overwatch (both Blizzard games, so I’ve been thinking of it as “Blizzard style”).
I found the pacing of the first few chapters in the first Alan Wake sublime, in terms of storytelling. The gameplay frustrated me on the other hand, became quickly monotonous and tedious for me. So I only played like a third of the game, much as I liked the story and was curious to see where it went. Then Control I was left completely unmoved by. So I’ve been hesitating to take up the second Alan Wake, basically because I didn’t much like the first iteration, or Control, which I’ve heard is somehow connected. Maybe I’m missing out. Or maybe these games appeal only to a certain audience.
I thought the story of Control was just ok but the gameplay was awesome.
It didnt land on my Top 25 list BUT…that one level (people who played it know exactly which I mean) was easily one of the best sequences I’ve ever played. I have no idea how they made it feel like you were still in control (hehe) as everything around you went crazy.
Unfortunately that level is very late in the game otherwise I’d implore you to stick it out to see it. But since you quit so early because you weren’t having fun, you probably will continue to not have fun until that part.
It kind of dampens and cheapens the experience of using the console. The PS+ tab and the PS Store tab are, essentially, full of ads already but at least they’re contained to the two left-most tabs on the home menu. Sure, you usually don’t stick around too long after selecting a game to play or a streaming service to watch something off, but I’d rather not see more ads than needed when the current system already works well as is.
Yeah. I get that. It makes sense, but I just don’t see it as some thing that really bothers me that much. I spent decades watching TV ads though, so, maybe I’m just more patient?
Sure, could be. I used to not be able to watch movies because I’d be used to TV ads forcing a break every now and then. Took me a while but I couldn’t go back to ad-less YouTube, for example
It doesn’t have to bother you personally to be unfair. I don’t pay this amount of money on their games and consoles to be bombarded by ads. It’s not a “big” problem, but it is a problem. Some people don’t want to see so many ads, to be tempted to buy stuff all the time or have a bloated home screen.
Just because you don’t mind doesn’t mean everyone has to do so as well.
