I think I'm going to give up on Kbin. Every time in enter it's full of spam, so is not worth posting anything since is going to be buried in spam anyways

Can registrations on kbin.social be disabled to stop spammers (kbin.social) angielski

kbin.social is being overrun with spammers. Can we disable registrations on this instance so they can't keep creating new accounts? Every day I log on, I have to spend the first 20-30 minutes, reporting and blocking a bunch of new accounts....

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

yeah, I spend more time downvoting a blocking spammers than anything else

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

The thing is they literally took pokemon 3D assets, edited them a little and that's all

Because pals look like this

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/TOedaV033DY/maxresdefault.jpg

but now IN 3D!!!
Pals
https://imgur.com/PbtJxRr

They took Serperior head+ Milotic body and Primarina hair

https://nintenduo.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Palworld-Plagio-Pokemon-03-1024x576.webp

self-explanatory

For the thumbnail image, they took meoth face, purugly body and that's it

These designs are not "inspired" they simply imported the assets from a pokemon game on blender or something, used "copy and paste" for different body parts and that's it, job done that's their completely original creature, totally not copied

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

I don't thinks so. It popular because "pokemon with guns" became a viral meme which sucks.

A a discontent pokemon fan myself I would love someone to make a pokemon clone since Game Freak is not really interested in doing good pokemon games anymore. But "Ark Survival Evolved with knockoff pokemon skins instead of dinosaurs" is not what I want

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

Pokémon with guns wouldn't have gotten millions of sales on its own

The day before sold millions (but this one was refunded by millions too) and everybody and their mom knew it was a scam since it was announced like 2 or 3 years ago. Internet is weird, if something becomes viral it will sell, the quality does not matter, people just wants to be in

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

The problem with TemTem is that it's an always online game, if the servers are turned off you won't be able to play, not even the single player campaign so it's a hard pass.

And the art style of both games are not my cup of tea, the do a disservice selling me the game.

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

As far as I can tell The Day Before was overhyped early and people bought it because of the marketing

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheDayBefore/comments/lwaach/people_keep_saying_its_a_scam_whats_the_scam/

That's a 3 years old post. Everybody knew it was a scam back then. to the point the studio released "We are not a scam, trust me bro" statements (which made it more obvious it was a scam)

I don't remember hearing about it before

Internet has been talking about "pokemon with guns" for 2 years or so since the developers were already famous because they launched a "Breath of the Wild" knock off (Craftopia) that also sold well (not at the same level of palworld, but for being the first title of a brand new indie studio it sold really well)

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

No one will know what you're looking for better than you, but people have been making games inspired by Pokemon for a long time now.

A Pokemon clone with high production values made in Japan. Or if it's not made in Japan one that uses it own art style, I simply can't stand the "Fake anime" aesthetic that most indies use, like they learned to draw using this as refference

Think of Shin Megami Tensei (but not SMT V, that one sucks, they removed the dungeon crawling and the puzzles)

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

it wouldn't have sold millions of units

People started to sell their steam accounts that owned the game and keys for the game for hundreds of dollars when it was announced the game was some bad that it was going to be removed from steam

If something is popular it will sell, the quality does not matter. You have the best example in Pokemon itself

url link blocking. What happened to it. (kbin.social) angielski

So when someone submitted a url at least at one point it would show up on the right and you could block it. So if someone posted a newsweek link you could block any link postings from like newsweek.com or maybe reddit.com or google.com. Lately though I have not been able to. It seemed to disapear at some point. I have not seen...

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

You can still do it

More > More from domain > press the block icon

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

The last Pokemon game I played was Y. It was largely the same game as Blue and Gold

Except they removed all traces of dungeons/caves (they are simple hallways with no exploration) and puzzles

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

Today we got a huge wave of spam accounts

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

I just block those accounts, we as users cannot do much more, I think

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

If it's so sad, developers could, you know, stop developing for iOS

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) to its successor, Counter-Strike 2

It's the same game. CSGO was updated to CS2

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

That's cool and all, but the game is not on sale anymore and most people refunded it

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

launched at a snail’s pace.

If speed is a problem, The EGS is painfully slow. I don't use is because it needs like 15 seconds to load the library (and it's just the part that is on screen if you scroll, it needs more time to load the games), in the rest of the launchers is practically instant

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

Epic do not has economic issues, they earn a shitton of money between Unreal Engine licenses and Fortnite. It's only the Epic Game store and the issue is not the legal expenses is that nobody spends money in their store

IIRC the data they show every year says on average each users spends like $15 per year

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

According to one developer, the game was developed by no more than 20 people

Meanwhile this is being made by a single person

Epic Launches Program to Pay Devs to Bring Old Games to Epic Games Store - IGN (www.ign.com) angielski

It's an incentive for devs to put their back catalogues to EGS, after they just laid off 800 employees because they spend too much money. Is it just me, or does everyone besides Epic know what the problem is with EGS?

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

The ones who spent money on the store are the users, not the devs. And they are failing at bringing the people who would give them the money they want

CEO Bobby Kotick will leave Activision Blizzard on January 1, 2024 (arstechnica.com) angielski

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

they pulled the whole 'xbox and pc exclusive' bullshit.

Unlike Sony that keeps launching games on Xbox /s

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

I was meaning more the fact that Bethesda released on playstation until Microsoft bought them.

Sony has been playing this game for a longer time, as @CoderKat said, and nobody cared

Do you know Psygnosis of WipEout fame? They developed multiplatform titles for Staturn, PC and N64, when Sony aquired them that stopped (Well, they launched WipEout on the N64 and that angered Sony but they stopped after that)

Sucker Punch (Ghost of Tsushima) first game was for the N64

Guerrilla Games (Horizon Forbidden West) started developing on the Game Boy Color, and also made games for the GBA and Xbox

And a very long list of developers now owned by Sony, most of them developed for a bunch of different platforms before Sony's acquisition

But the thing is most people think those studios were created by Sony rather than purchased

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

Nintendo and scalpers... Name a more iconic duo, I'll wait

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

They keep giving away free games each week (they have to pay to the publishers of the games to give away games) yet nobody spend money in the store (I think the average was each user spend like $10 or $15 per year)

They also keep buying exclusives, a thing that cost money...

And we cannot forget all the studios and company they have bought, the purchase cost money and their maintenance too

ESports is a euphemism. It isn't sports

What qualifies an activity to be classified as sport? Chess is a sport, so physical activity is not a requirement

Contemporary chess is an organized sport with structured international and national leagues, tournaments, and congresses. Thousands of chess tournaments, matches, and festivals are held around the world every year catering to players of all levels.

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

In that I'm consistent: chess isn't a sport either.

The thing is chess IS a sport, that's the fact, like it or not.

fact: a piece of information presented as having objective reality

Chess has tournament, leagues, championships, federation and all that like other sports and is accepted by the society (except for you, it seems) as an sport, so the objective reality is chess is a sport. That's the reality you live in, like it or not.

John Riccitiello is Unity's CEO, you may remember him from being EA's CEO or for being the guy who said the devs who don't monetize (you know adding microtransactions, loot boxes and all that greedy stuff) their videogames are "fucking idiots". I think that explains all

And yes, it too was inspired directly by Diablo (and its sequels).

It would not say it was "inspired" by Diablo it was more than that. I mean, Torchlight was made by the same team that made Diablo I and II after all.
