Dylan, do games w Starfield Is Bethesda's Lowest-Rated Game On Steam

As buggy as Fallout 4 was I absolutely loved it and got me started on the Bethesda Train. Played New Vegas and Skyrim afterwards and those were great.

Starfield almost bored me to tears. Combat and Ship building are great but everything in between is just very average at best.

And then with Cyberpunk releasing it’s 2.0 update and DLC these past week, I have almost no urge to go back to Starfield anytime soon.

brsrklf,

New Vegas uses Bethesda’s Fallout 3 engine, but it was made by Obsidian. It’s not the most representative of what Bethesda does (well, except the part where it’s very buggy, I guess. That part mostly comes with the engine).

As to be expected from Todd “it just works” Howard 🙄 He has this weird ability to snatch failure from the jaws of success alot of the time.

So you’re telling me that a game that is an unoptimized, buggy, shallow mess isn’t game of the year? No…

A bit? Lolololol

That’s just Steam. Perhaps it’s being held in higher esteem by the Playstation communi… oh wait.

BigTrout75, do gaming w GameStop Boss Says Disc Drives Should Be Required On Game Consoles

I kept hoping that Sony would do a last hurrah with discs and make a console that plays them all. But with discs being pretty much antiquated at this point, I don’t think it’s going to happen.

gk99,

Sony management didn’t even see a point to backwards compatibility until recently and still can’t be bothered to figure out PS3 emulation. It’s easily the console’s greatest flaw imo.

nodiet,

Looking at RPCS3, it seems like most PS3 games wouldn’t run well on PS5 without dedicated, PS3-like hardware.

BigTrout75,

I agree.

ampersandrew, do gaming w Payday 3 Developer Promises To Fix Matchmaking Issues
@ampersandrew@kbin.social avatar

As for the long term, it plans to evaluate a new partner for matchmaking and to adjust Payday 3's reliance on online services. That could mean that Starbreeze will remove the game's always online requirement, but the statement does not explicitly say that will be the case.

When it doesn't explicitly say that will be the case, I doubt that it will be. But hopefully we're reaching the turning point where games will stop with the always-online nonsense.

I wonder if the original vision of DD is going to be attempted. It was a cool concept.

Excited regardless of what's to come!

Draconic_NEO, do games w You'll Have To Wait At Least Two Years For A Faster Steam Deck

That’s fine, the steam deck is already fast enough as is. What I’m mostly interested in is a next gen steam controller for docked Gameplay. One with the same controls as the deck (Dual Analog) and also has USB-C, also since it would be more easily available than the Old Steam Deck controllers which you can only buy used and in ever increasing scarcity.

I dont want faster, I just want a bezeless oled in the same body.

[slightly off-topic] surprisingly forthright, why can’t we get info like this in respect to the index? i would LOVE to finally get into VR but i’m certainly not paying full price for a piece of 5 year old tech in an industry that has moved as fast as VR has

theragu40, do games w You'll Have To Wait At Least Two Years For A Faster Steam Deck

Good. I hope it is longer than that. Fragmenting the platform will do no one any good at this stage in its life, and its performance is completely adequate for what it is.

lobut, do games w You'll Have To Wait At Least Two Years For A Faster Steam Deck

Given that I just bought one and am waiting for it to arrive in the bloody mail. I think that’s fine.

Also, I’m okay with playing less intensive titles regardless. If I wanted to be immersed with high fidelity stuff I’d use my gaming PC. I also chose the Deck over the Ally and Legion Go due to software integration and hardware repair options.
