I played a lot back when it came out. I picked up the DLC on release day and reset my progress. Such a good game. Even when I’m not playing (like now) I’m thinking and reading up on strategies.
Yikes, kinda expensive on mobile. I already repackaged it from my Steam copy and side-loaded it on to my phone so I’ll stick with that. It would be nice if I could keep my progress from one to the other though.
Because I already bought the game. Why should I have to pay more based on where I play it? That’s ridiculous. If I buy it, I should be able to play it how and where I want.
Not an adjustment for me. I haven’t bought a Civ game within 5 years of release for a very long time. It’s far better to wait for the expansions and DLC to get bundled into the Complete Edition. Denuvo will probably be removed by then.
What people want is TES 6. Remastering Skyrim is what they’re doing in the meantime to earn some money to stay afloat while they waste everyone’s time.
Hi all, I know this question has probably been posted on the internet millions of times, yet I would like to receive some Lemmy-oriented answers. :) What are your favorite places, websites, or creators for discovering new games in your favorite genres?
Who cares? I exclude genres I don’t like too. Play the games you like. I’m sure those poor indie games will do just fine despite a guy on Lemmy saying he excludes them.
Initial scrolling of the Steam Summer Sale seems pretty lackluster, but digging through the comments sections in other threads, a few gems have stood out, and it doesn’t appear we have a thread dedicated to this yet, so post what you think are the best deals here!...
This overhaul is the beginning steps of revamping the tutorials, and, hopefully, being much more beginner focused. If you like space sims, this is one of the best times to give X4 a shot!...
Would you recommend just getting the base game, or is it worth getting the Community of Planets Edition with the DLCs included? Do they add much to the game?
Such a good game. I picked it up during last year’s Winter Sale on Steam. I’ve got about 200 hours in it so far, and I’m playing up to Prestige 8. It’s pretty challenging at that level, and I’m not sure how to progress past it.
I’m glad to see the devs have announced 1.0, although the game has been totally playable since I first picked it up. I love the effort and work they put into every update, and I’m really gonna miss them adding and improving stuff.
Yes, that’s exactly it. They changed the format a while ago. You get to see the entire bundle before you buy it, and can skip months as long as you want. I buy maybe 2 or 3 bundles a year and skip all the rest.
Say a simple (hours enjoyed playing)/(price of game) equation. How many hours (you enjoyed) per $ do you think is reasonable/expected? Or is there other criteria for you?...
Rimworld for sure. I paid full price for it on Ludeon’s website and played it a lot. When it released on Steam I started playing it there and now it’s my most played Steam game by far. Based on some quick and dirty math, it’s cost me under $0.03 per hour of enjoyment.
Another big one is Against the Storm. I’ve only played a few hundred hours so far but that’s been worth every penny I spent too. I bought it during the last Winter Sale on Steam and I’ve put in about 200 hours.
If it’s tedious, why would you keep playing? Just stop and move on to a different game. If you only play it for 15 hours before dropping it, then that becomes the figure for the $/t ratio.
It’s still a valid metric because why would you keep playing a game you’re not enjoying? The number of hours isn’t a measure of how much time it takes to beat, or how much time I feel I should get out of it. It’s how much time I do get out of it.
I don’t care if a $30 game claims to have 100 hours of content. If I only play it for 2 hours before I drop it for being boring, then the cost/time is $15/hour.
It reminds me of grinding levels in classic WoW, but without the benefit of getting new skills and feeling more powerful with the levels.
The problem is the level scaling. It literally doesn’t matter if you gain levels because everything else does too. You don’t feel any accomplishment because you haven’t gained any power over the monsters.
You can’t get your butt kicked by a boss and go elsewhere to gain a few more levels to try again because the boss gets more powerful too.
The game is fully playable and has hardly any bugs. They have a set schedule for updates: every two weeks. I’m amazed at the changes they’ve done since I picked it up during the winter sale (9ish months ago). The devs are dedicated, that’s for sure.
It’s one of my favourite games. The devs are really good at making the choices you make interesting and meaningful.
