played this game when it came out and definitely remember the mission but I'm not following the explanation, would you mind pointing out where the elevator is?

abbotsbury,
@abbotsbury@lemmy.world avatar

The elevators are the big vertical shafts. You start on the left area and take the leftmost elevator (the shaft connected to the gray exterior model, labeled A) down, then walk around that area until you get to the second shaft B. That shaft is the surprise one and brings you down to the lowest level. The third shaft, C, falls apart when you try to use it, and you escape via the fourth one, D, that connects to another gray exterior model and the second (lower) exterior section.

I had this problem with windows a while ago and I believe in the graphics settings I was able to change it from “Vulkan” to directX. I don’t know anything about Linux, but if you have a comparable setting you can change you might be try that?

DirectX is not supported.

Grass, do games w RDR2 on Fedora 42 stuck in borderless windowed, can’t force fullscreen

is there a reason not to use gamescope? Have you tried proton forks like ge or tkg? also have you checked protondb for anyone having the same problem?

mitexleo,
@mitexleo@buddyverse.one avatar

I tried but the launcher crashes … Managed to play the game with x11. But the graphics and audio quality is significantly worse.

Grass,

damn the launcher is apparently also their drm platform and not skippable. that’s pretty shitty.

I just finished Cult of the Lamb. To was a quick buy satisfying play through. I love the snappy roll/dodge mechanic.

The first things I would try would be:

  • Using an X11 desktop session instead of Wayland.
  • Using a different Proton version.
  • Making sure those width/height/refresh command line options are valid and match my monitor’s native specs. (By the way, DXVK_FRAME_RATE is for Direct3D 8/9/10/11 games running with DXVK, and doesn’t set the display’s refresh rate in any case. It won’t help you with this problem.)

After that, I would start reading the discussion here:

github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3291

This comment seems relevant, as does this one. There are plenty more.

Back when Dota 2 had player icons in a vertical collumn I once saw a Kim Jong Il team with names like “his glorious head” and “his glorious hands”.

Absolutely mopped the floor with them, but still funny.

This looks like a 5/10 game at best. That sucks. Because I like the first game.

EncryptKeeper,

What about the 92 metacritic score and the vast majority of reviews calling it “better than the first game in every way” makes it look like a 5/10 for you?

hal_5700X, (edited )

What was the biggest complaint about the first game? It was boring. Kojima over did it with the crazy stuff to counter that complaint. You have many musical moments and the final boss fight like he just watch FLCL for the first time. I like the first game’s more lay back vibe.

EDIT Also Kojima needs a co-writer bad.

EncryptKeeper,

The first game is a ton of fun. And seems to have been an 8/10 game. This one is evidently more so and is a 9/10 game. How you get 5/10 from that I’ll never know.

I think the DS games are just not for you.

I said I like the first one.

I see a 7/10 in there that seems the most honest.

Are there enough Teams logos/Icons to do a full 5 player roster?

dejected_warp_core,

I think there’s enough for way more than that if we dip into the whole O365 suite.

On my seventh attempt, I walked into a store and was told yes when asking if there were any Switch 2s in stock. The young cashier adorably turned to his older coworker and unironically said “Wow, that’s four in one day! You weren’t kidding about these things.”

So anyways the past few days have been a blur of Mario Kart World. The new mechanics are a challenge to learn but they’re a challenge I’m delighted to have and make me feel incredible when I’m using them well, the soundtrack full of remixed classics on par with the best of Final Fantasy VII Remake’s that are just there to fill the empty space between the proper racetracks, and I was not prepared for HDR in the hands of Nintendo’s artists. This game is by far the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen on a screen and that was already true before I looked up how to use that shockingly unhelpful calibration tool the Switch 2 has and now it’s twice as beautiful on top of that.

The sole complaint I have about this game is that I’m not enjoying Waluigi’s new voice actor. I can’t hear the pain underlying the mania that Martinet understood was core to the otherwise ill defined character. His animations and his costumes are so fucking good, though, it’s hard to even care that his voice is downgraded.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I much prefer the original N64 models and textures over the 3DS.

Maybe it’s just nostalgia but I feel like the 3DS graphics have aged much worse since it released.

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

fair enough lol. i grew up on the 3DS one so it’s probably nostalgia for me too, though i honestly i mostly prefer the graphics just because something about N64 Link’s nose bothers me

I’m addicted to Broken Arrow. I haven’t played a war RTS since World In Conflict. I’m pretty terrible at it and it’s taking time to learn how to put together a deck, but I’m really enjoying the multiplayer.

theangriestbird,

seems really cool! I like the flexible interpretation of the “point buy” system that tabletop wargames use.

Developer Steel Balalaika is based in Russia.

Not so fond of putting any money into Russia’s tax base, though. No shade to the devs who are probably cool people, I just struggle with making this kind of choice in our shitty modern world 😔

eagleeyedtiger,

Damn I didn’t even consider that honestly! It was an impulse buy because I was looking for something new to play. Can’t really refund either as I got it through a cdkey site. Feeling conflicted, but it’s been really fun 🙁

theangriestbird,

It’s okay, don’t feel bad! This is the kind of political decision where I don’t fault anyone for making either choice. Boycotting Russia is noble, but so is supporting devs for making amazing games!
