I’m one of those who have 10 or less games installed, because having more would only be detrimental to my experience. I’d be unable to choose and then I’d play even less than I already do lately.
P.S.: Thank you for the interview, very interesting.
A boss several steps up the chain decided to make changes to how the site operates that were incompatible with what Giant Bomb is, namely that they wanted an advertiser-friendly, “brand-safe” image with less swearing and streaming. This led to a number of key people leaving, at which point, the name Giant Bomb isn’t really worth anything to anyone. It’s been covered in tons of gaming circles this week alongside the similar destruction of Polygon, so I didn’t think it needed to be stated yet again as I was summarizing bullet points from a live stream.

Very fair and valid.
I will just gently state that this is c/games, not c/gamingcircles and thus many of us are very interested in video games but not necessarily the industries on the periphery thereof, so what seems “yet again” to you might be a first time for others.
Very true. Though at the same time, you probably could have found that context you were looking for by typing a couple of those words into your favorite search engine or Wikipedia.
I agree with you, but I do believe that is an unrealistic expectation for interacting with casual lemmy posts when a custom of including relevant context exists. But all good, I’ll admit my lack of awareness on this one; you did nothing wrong.
Another fantastic project that makes gaming on Linux so much easier. It’s incredibly strong in configurability and ‘robustness’. Yes, you might have to set up all of your Wine bottles and things like that, which can be a faff, but once it’s working in Lutris, it just keeps on working on Lutris.
Great for long-running series, too. I’ve been a big fan of the XCOM series since the Amiga days; in Lutris, it’s easy to have UFO: Enemy Unknown / Terror from the Deep running in openxcom, Apocalypse in DosBox, and connected up to the Firaxis remakes in Steam. Similarly, love me a metroidvania, and have got most of the 40+ CastleVania games lined up and ready-to-go, just a double-click away.
I’ve always thought it was an otter, but never up till now have I questioned why it’s stolen an orange. They’re not the most citrus-loving of creatures.
This is very cool. My partner and I are bigger fans of life is strange 2 and we have it on the bucket list to take a few weeks traveling from Seattle down the coast until we get to Mexico.
Unfortunately I cannot stand driving and I don’t think either of us want to visit America for a while but I still hope to do it one day.
The big things from the game would be the redwoods and the US border I guess. Still irks me that the fandom didn’t turn up for LiS2, which I found vastly better - but at least we get that. Lost Records definitely feels like dontnod leaning in to the long-term LiS1 fanbase anyway, to me.

Disgusting. I don’t demand or expect them to rewrite their website, but those people are nowhere near even “neutral” status, as long as they behave this way.
Awful tanky controls (understandable) didn’t stop me from getting 100% genitals shots in some of it’s missions. Local deathmatch was kinda better because both of you struggled with them. 7\10 for me as a kid, but if I’d play it now as it was back then, I’d quickly drop it in favor of something with a third person perspective. It wasn’t just there yet, and devs did the best they could.
I lived out this way once upon a time and miss it dearly. I never did get as far north as Tillamook Bay, but I have great memories of Lincoln City and Newport. Imagine my reaction when this game was announced, hah.
The photo in Chloe’s house of Arcadia Bay is one of Garibaldi, just mirrored. For plausible deniability, of course!
I can’t be sure it’s from this game as I played it 100 years ago, but
There was a mission where you’re in a German base. You’re just fucking their shit up and they start saying weird shit over the PA like, “Surrender now and you vill be treated vith charity und kindness.”
Thanks so much for sharing! I’ve recently moved to daily driving Linux and went Bazzite for the gaming element (which I’ve since only somewhat used, lol).
Haven’t dove into the bits and pieces that really make the games work much yet, had no idea Lutris was all this! Particularly the wider library management / enablement, the very thing the dev called out as not well known lol.
AND I was very happy to find out it’s all Python! That’s my bread and butter (and it’s delicious), I may just have to do a wee bit of dev’in someday too. If I ever get around to the games lol

I keep telling the developer of Junk Store that Python is the bee’s knees, but since he is neck-deep in common lisp these days he keeps dismissing my adoration of Python!
I’m so glad you enjoyed this, you’re the exact user this kind of thing I try arrange is for! And welcome to daily driving Linux, I do hope you settle in and stick around for the long haul :)
I’ll make sure Mathieu sees your happy comment here, again, so happy you enjoyed this!!!
I just bought two oldish business class Dell laptops this last week and put Bazzite on em both, for the fam. Easing out our Chromebooks we’ve used for minor things, just can’t abide a machine that won’t let me actually own it anymore, with the way the world’s going.
Not exactly revolutionary lol, but your enthusiasm demanded something in response, so I wanted to let you know that we (and I bet lots of others!) are all in. And I really hope you keep doing stuff like this!!
If I haven’t contributed something to Lutris by this year’s Hacktoberfest, by golly I’m committing (heh) to putting an open issue to rest during best month.
