TheEntity, do games w This console generation seems skippable

As a lifetime PC gamer, I wholeheartedly agree. There were many console games I had been envious about in the PS2, PS3 or PS4 era. Now? Nope, nothing. Partially because the industry got so bad I'm hardly interested in most new games, but the exclusives are pretty much non-existent in the genres I'm interested in.

I play some Xbox SEX but I bought a PS5 on a whim when I had a (then-)rare chance in 2022, and it’s still unopened in my closet.

I just assumed it’s because I’m busy and wished I had more time. But now that you mention it, not a lot of must-play games. Even Elden Ring on Xbox, I could’ve played on PC just fine.

When the new FF7 remaster episode comes out I’ll probably set it up then.

Steam Deck is the MVP of this Gen, for sure.

Cold_Brew_Enema,

I, too, play Xbox SEX

i’m gonna blatantly disregard your “but where the consequences actually matter” and recommend most of telltale’s games (The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us are the better ones).

besides them and the suggestion of others i would also recommend Tyranny. great CRPG made by Obsidian.

Witcher 3, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Nationstates.net , all are excellent options along this line.

“Passage” is a very short one. But the choices matter.

Pheonixdown, do gaming w What difficult games/game challenges did you give up on?

Back in my teens one summer, I was playing Resident Evil Code Veronica by day at my friend’s house and Doom 3 alone in my basement at night, got about halfway through both but quit because of the constant nightmares. Lost to the psychological damage I guess.

I’m not sure I’ve seen it posted here, a little older, but the TellTale Walking Dead games are killer. You make full choices that affect your game later. Tons of fun, not a ton of action gameplay but the stories told are next level IMO

TIL I’m the only one who says “microtorrent”.

ARk,

what is that

The “u” in uTorrent is actually [greek letter mu](en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mu_(letter)), which as a SI suffix is pronounced “micro” and means one millionth (10^-6)

Chyba możemy już przyjąć że do ekstremów nie doszło. Pewnie ratusz podający 35k jest bliżej prawdy niż 300k. Niby sporo osób ale co to jest w porównaniu z protestami z ostatnich 4 lat.

Space Engineers.

Satisfactory.

Factorio (actually not sure what the MP limit is without mods; but I know there’s a mod that makes it infinite due to seeing the Spiffing Brit playing with like 300 people at once).

EVE Online (the bigger your group the stronger you’d be. Get 100 of 'em; start your own corporation)

Actually while thinking about what supports more than 4 it’s mostly creative games and MMORPGs (that know of). Damn near everything centers on groups of just 3-4 with the exception of the 5v5 competitive shooters.

Muck can be a pretty hilarious time with a bunch of friends. Practically any Halo game has some kind of game mode that a bunch of friends can enjoy.

You want to ONLY play with your group or are you also wanting to play with others? Or both/either?

Either one is fine

MMORPGs like World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2 are a great way to play together. With 5 players you can exactly fill a party in both games.

RTS games like Starcraft 2 (which is free now) or Age of Empires could also be fun, but 5 players is a bit awkward because it’s too many for a single team and uneven so you can’t play like a 3v3. But at least in SC2 there’s a 2v2 and a 3v3 ladder so you could always split into two teams or play a free for all. There are also a bunch of cool custom games in the arcade like Ice Baneling Escape or Zealot Hockey you could try.

Very different, but Trackmania is also fun with friends. Not the right choice if you enjoy ramming your friends off the road, but there are probably other games for that too. To set up and play in a club/server you’d need club access which costs like $20 a year, but you can try the game for free first to see if you like it. You can compete for records on a map, play an RPG together (a map style where the focus is on finding the right way instead of just racing) or build tracks for each other.

You could try an ARPG, unfortunately most of them (Diablo, Grim Dawn, Last Epoch) seem to limit parties to 4 players, but Path of Exile allows up to six. And if you’re not serious about the end game you’ll never need to spend any money (if you are it’s like $40 for stash tabs one time and you’re set forever).

Barotrauma should be able to take up to 16 players and if you as a group can get into this game then you will have a good laugh for a good amount of time.

Golf With Your Friends - up to 12 p. Simple game but getting hit by your friends ball right before scoring the hole kinda never gets old.

Any grand strategy will be able to host many players Civ, HoI, HoMaM, AoE, RoN, Stellaris, …

Ps. Check out DEFCON/ICBM

No Civilization on your strategy game list? Civ V and VI are both great picks.

Also, Factorio is a ton of fun and will literally let you play with hundreds of players in the same game if you so choose. The cap is 255.

And I just started diving into loot games with Titan Quest. Allegedly that game supports up to 6 players.

taaz,

I forgot about Civ! Definitely added.
