Piggybacking on my genshin suggestion, another suggestion would be Guild Wars 2? It’s world is more open than most MMOs and since it’s over a decade old there’s a ton of content there. There’s a lot as a free2play player, but you can buy expansions if you want even more to explore, and I genuinely think gw2’s exploration is best-in-class. It’s also benefitted by being an old game in terms of old computers being able to run it, you’d probably have to play on low graphics but it’ll certainly run. Hope that’s more useful if you dont wanna do gacha stuff like genshin!

sleepybisexual,

I’ll look into it

The_Sasswagon,

Second for guild wars 2, the world is huge when you first start playing, and though the initial levelling experience can feel like it takes a while, once you have hit the cap you can go pretty much anywhere. The story is pretty linear, though, so if you want a deep and complex story it might be better to look for a single player game.

I’d also say the combat system in Guild wars is fantastic, it’s simple enough to pick up and not have to stress about playing the game, but if you want to engage and get better there is so much to learn about and improve.

Link to the Past is how I discovered Zelda.

Never got to play it through as a kid, but then we got OOT when N64 came out. There’s never gonna be a game I’ll have better memories from.

I’ve sunk more time into TotK than any of the others. I have nostalgia for OoT, TWW and TP, but their gameplay don’t hold up to BotW or TotK if you take off the nostalgia glasses.

Might replay BotW at some point.

Seasons and Ages. They were my childhood.

It’s cool to hear someone say their favorite is TP. I always felt like it was OOT on steroids. Which in my opinion is a good thing. I wish TP had gotten more than an HD port of the original. Would love to see that get a facelift for the Switch with higher polygon count and his res textures.

Dragon’s Dogma 2, getting close to 80 hours. I still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface because, now that I’m getting 60’ish level pawns to run in my party, I’m still finding a ton of secrets in areas I’ve already explored extensively. In the game, the pawns you summon can show you secrets about the world that their players have discovered. It’s a neat mechanic.

If you like exploring open worlds, it’s a pretty great game.

Man, I couldn’t get into the game at all. I just found it really boring and a chore to play most of the time. This is one of those games, where I don’t get what others see in it at all.

That’s okay.

It’s definitely not for everyone. I like it because it’s fun to explore the world they’ve built, but it’ll be more fun when the launch bugs are worked out.

I’m going to skip it. I don’t want to risk buying an counterfeit eclipse glasses and blinding myself 😬

Kichae,

You don’t need glasses during totality, if you happen to be in its path. If you’re not, actully looking at the sun is the least interesting part of a pretty eh event, anyway.

Bahalex,

I was camping for the last eclipse. Didn’t make it north enough for totality, but fairly close. Seeing the little wedge of sun filtered and projected hundreds of times through the trees was pretty awesome- and in a way more interesting than looking at directly with the special glasses.

Even if you don’t look up , try to go out and enjoy it.

Kichae,

That’s how I viewed 2017! Went outside on my lunch break to watch the bananas on the sidewalk while everyone around me went about seemingly totally unaware of what was going on right above and below them

WarioWare is very easy to binge :b

I have hung up the cape on Helldivers 2 for now, each patch makes the game more and more unstable. It’s to the point where I rarely make it two missions without crashing, losing progress each time has pretty sucked all the fun out of the game.

The timing is good, though, I snagged a spot in the Once Human beta test and have been really enjoying it. Surprisingly fun with interesting building, crafting, and exploration mechanics. Definitely a time sink though ^^;

I thought Mortal Kombat 1 was a good introduction to the series for me. The cinematic story is a banger in the first 2 thirds, and the final part is weak, but doesn’t break its neck.

And for quite some hours I had a lot of fun just playing it. However the gameplay will not hold up past the 2 week honeymoon phase, with all the bugs, pricing, always online and truly awful invasion mode, which is the core single player experience next to the story.

So it depends what you expect of it, other fighting games are just better in many aspects.

Finished The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles last week.

This may be heresy, but I think I enjoyed these two more than both of the other trilogies.

Maybe it’s the setting or characters or unique mechanics, I don’t know, but I fucking loved every minute of it.
