just beat a difficult game about climbing and i loved it! it’s the only other game in the genre that has risen to the heights of getting over it in terms of gameplay mechanics and level design.

if anyone reading this knows about a community for these types of games (foddian? getting over it-likes?), please send it my way. i love these games to bits and have so much to say about them but to my knowledge basically no one cares about these games outside of watching people on twitch get angry at them.

looking forward to playing return of the obra dinn, then i’ll probably start speedrunning the climbing game until baby steps releases lol

anything with turn-based combat as a core mechanic is an instant skip, nothing else about the game matters

Billy Mitchell has surrendered (perfectpacman.com)

Billy Mitchell didn’t win his defamation lawsuit against Twin Galaxies. Not only was Billy not in a position to get a financial settlement, Billy’s cheated Donkey Kong scores were not reinstated(as he’s claiming), and his claimed Pac-Man score from 1999 is also not on the main scoreboards. What had happened is that the...

while funny, the accolades you listed aren’t enough for billy to be elected - clearly he isn’t that great a conman!

got a chance to try lethal company on steam - it’s a really fun online co-op horror roguelike where you scavenge for parts on moons that may or may not be inhabited. corporate doesn’t care what’s in these caves as long as it makes them money. great with friends or randoms, the proximity chat makes for a fun and scary experience with a drg / viscera cleanup style corporate setting.

also played through most of greener grass awaits, which is a unique and fun horror golf game - also free. i recommend at least trying it out, the horror gameplay elements mesh with the golf in a novel way that makes for a rare horror game with engaging moment to moment gameplay.

What are some alternative to soulless videogame franchises? angielski

What I mean is… sometimes people are very loyal to a videogame franchise or a company because they loved a game they released years ago (Silent Hill/Konami with Silent Hill 2, Blizzard/Bethesda with their respective golden eras, some could argue this happens too with Pokémon and Final Fantasy, etc). Ethical/consumer reasons...

a short hike reinvigorated my love for indie games! it’s such a beautiful game with a cute little story and fun things to do, and doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.

What are some game genres / styles you like that aren't being made anymore, or are being mde but not very often? angielski

For me it’s first person puzzle games. I can think of maybe a dozen off the top of my head that came out in the last decade. I especially enjoy when they’re open world. The ability to just quit a puzzle that’s stumped you and go try something else for a little bit is incredibly refreshing.

pikmin 4! so excited to finally have my hands on a new pikmin game. the game is very streamlined and a lot of the minor annoyances of the older games have been eliminated by one design choice or another, and it is just really easy to sit down and play.

would recommend for new players and fans of the series.

its different from the other ones, mostly in terms of ui and game feel, but it plays the most like 3. the caves are great so far (if a little short, but there is still plenty more for me to do), overall its just been lots of fun but i do wish it was a little harder. The big areas are super cool, and the design improvements allow you to just go diving into any caves or dandori battles you find in your travels without having to worry about where are my pikmin, do i have everyone, do i have the right types, etc.

would definitely recommend it to any pikmin fans

Baby Steps Reveal Trailer - thoughts? (www.youtube.com)

anyone else excited about this? i love these types of getting over it -likes and i’m super excited to give it a try. Moving that style of game into a 3d space introduces all sorts of challenges and gameplay options and im sure people are gonna have insane strats for stuff....
