Citizen Sleeper, one the the best games, not just indie.

SuperSynthia,

Played this on Gamepass. It had a wonderful story, and getting each unique ending was so satisfying <3.

Shattered pixel dungeon Many hours put into this game

tigeruppercut, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

I ran across a metroidvania called Feudal Alloy set in a medieval world where you and all the enemies are low-tech robots with fish bowls as heads. There’s an interesting mechanic where swinging your sword generates heat and if you’re overheated you can’t attack temporarily. You can upgrade different parts of your body to fit the situation or your play style (more armor/damage/health, slower overheat, faster cooldown, etc), and the art is nice.

Felt like a lucky find for me because I just found out about it last week from an old vid on one of the yt gaming channels I follow (Let’s Game It Out if anyone likes watching a dude try to break games by essentially QA testing the hell out of them), and when I checked the steam sale this week it came up for under 2 bucks.

Potatos_are_not_friends,

This is awesome. Thanks for the recommendation!

Been having a Metroidvania itch and currently playing Afterimage.

_sideffect,

The new Prince of Persia is amazing

wer2,

Controls felt a little janky to me, but I loved the game. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a shorter Metroidvania experience, especially if the art style is appealing to you.

learningduck,

Warning. The game only has like 2 bosses. It uses rooms that keep spawning mobs as replacements for normal bosses.

tigeruppercut,

Spoilers haha. But yeah, seems like a bit more of a casual experience from the couple hours I’ve put in so far. Glad it was like a buck fifty

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead (ASCII mode) and Neofeud hold a special place in my heart

Valheim is one of the best, especially with frends

simple,

Shame the updates come at such a glacial pace though…

Hotzilla,

It is a small indie team, that doesn’t want to crunch their devs. I can live with that.

darthsid, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

Have played everything good that’s out there so nothing…

pineapplelover, do games w What are y'all buying on the steam sale?

I just bought pico park. I need more good local couch coop games

jemikwa,

Pico Park made our group rage in the best way. It’s a cute and fun game

pineapplelover,

Any more good couch coop games?

Edit: my group has people who have never played controller so I need something easy to pick up. I have tried overcooked but I guess there are too many buttons

jemikwa,

Sorry, I don’t really have any for PC, we played Pico using remote coop

Probably nothing unless a really good deal from my wish list shows up.

Lmaydev, do gaming w I hate the term "Boomer Shooter"

Boomer basically means 20+ years old nowadays as far as I can tell. Or older than zoomers.

Remedy Entertainment. They have been making banger after banger in my opinion, all the way back to Max Payne (and i wasted so many hours on Death Rally). Always heavy focus on plot, and well developed gameplay. Memorable soundtracks on most cases too.

Remedy Entertainment. From Max Payne 1 & 2, to Alan Wake 1 & 2, to Quantum Break, to Control, there has not been a game from them that I've played that hasn't been absolutely fantastic. They have not failed to miss so far.

It’s marketing doublespeak dreamed up by the totally deranged and it works

You have to remember its millennials and Gen Z experiencing this genre, not boomers.

Tak,
@Tak@lemmy.ml avatar

Boomer doesn’t have to be literal boomers but old, like it is a joke in the WoW community to call it a boomer game because most of the people playing it (especially classic) are 30+ years old.

In the same way, people will talk about boomers in politics but Obama was the last baby boomer in the presidency.

I’m going to go a little unpopular here, and say Paradox Interactive.

Their milking of their properties with DLC is the stuff of legends, but at the end of the day, nobody else is even close at modeling rich, complex and hugely broad historical simulation the way they do. They’re everything I ever wanted when I was a kid, playing Koei strat games. When you’re that good at what you do, fine, make money. Whatever.

Oh, look. Another DLC… sigh

The DLC I’ll admit is what they are jokingly known for but someone could “find some treasure” can avoid that. But good answer nonetheless!
