I’ve put 300 hours into this game, and not once did I know this was a thing. I beat it about the time the DLC came out. Is this a newer update, or did I just miss it on my last playthrough?
Heh, I remember travelling to Proxima Centauri from Alpha Centauri in Elite Dangerous… around 80 light days, one of the longest in-system distances in the game (for inhabited systems), using in-system engines because that’s too close to jump through hyperspace… last time I looked the record was at around 26 minutes, most ships probably did it in around 30 to 45.
Good trip to just set the cruise speed, grab a book, and relax…
I personally think that interacting with anything related to Harry Potter continues to give it cultural dominance and longevity, so even if you aren’t personally spending money to support the giant piece of shit that is JK Rowling, you’re helping it stay relevant enough to keep making that bigot of a bitch money.
It can also be argued that since Epic made a deal for giving the game away, that the money has already been paid to Rowling, whether you grab the game for free or not. The fewer people who grab the free copy, the less wise of an investment it will be seen as by Epic’s beancounters. This also ties back into the first point of the more people taking the free copy is giving Harry Potter more cultural dominance and longevity.
I pirated this game when it came out specifically I could play it and write about how bad it was in terms of gameplay, story, and game design. I don’t feel like re-writing a full on review here, but I’ll just say it: It’s a bad fucking game and the only reason people have given it as much attention as it has gotten is the association with Harry Potter. If this had been an original property with no connection to the HP series with similar gameplay and story it would have been a clusterfuck of a failure on release.
Anyway I’ll shut up now but fuck Harry Potter, the only thing Harry Potter related I’ll accept anymore is Wizard People, Dear Reader, because it’s a parody.
Re: 3, unfortunately, pirating the game won’t let you avoid supporting transphobic lunatics. The person who cracked the game is even worse than Rowling - as in, “makes Rowling look like a paragon of progressiveness in comparison” worse - and uses the download numbers for her cracks (and the fact she’s usually the only one willing to crack Denuvo) to justify asking for donations.
That’s a fair take. I deleted it promptly after playing, but anyone who is willing to fund empress’s insanity is a fool anyway. Yet, sadly, a whole lot of fools out there.
How’s the action? It looked like you can launch people in the trailer and perform some kind of air combo. I doubt it leads to anything truly fun, but I’m curious.
You can, and I find it fun. Some other reviewers don’t like it, and it can be clunky, but it is still fun for me to levitate someone and then slam them into a wall.
Reading the language off of system locale only AND not giving players option to change in settings on a AAA game that has been out for a year is unacceptable.
I don’t think I entirely understood what the hell was going on in Control but I really enjoyed playing it. The way they integrated Alan Wake into the story was brilliant.
Hopefully, this will be just as much fun to play and maybe even understand… 🤣
It’s kind of messy if you’re not already into the scp / weird fiction vibe, but I’d totally suggest looking into the lore of the series. It’s very good.
Yeah, I already was a fan of Fringe years ago and Stranger Things now, but reading Some SCP stories is what got me into this game. With those as background knowledge the story isn’t really that complicated.

A lot of the story only kind of makes sense because it’s deliberately about things that are beyond human understanding. You get the story mostly through the eyes of humans who understand most (but not all) of the “what is happening” but almost none of the “how” or “why”.
Interesting, I would love a service that periodically checks my wishlist in Steam to see which of them is available on GOG, but could not find anything, do you perhaps now something like that?
ITAD allows for wishlist (and collection) imports from both Steam and GOG. You’ll end up with a unified wishlist, where you can set specific rules to get notified when there’s a sale, including which specific stores have a game on sale.
That’s what I use to track any game I wishlist, with specific rules to notify me when said game is on sale at GOG.

Epic was actually the publisher (So no Steam) and gave Remedy free hands in development and funding. It took some time but the game is now making profit. Epic takes 50%.
Yeah, which means it will probably never be released on Steam, which is even worse than the timed Epic exclusives where they pay to keep games out of other store fronts for a year or whatever. Even Microsoft and Sony are rarely doing full exclusive releases like this anymore.
You'd think a developer as well known as Remedy would be able to find funding from a less restrictive publisher. Fucking Epic
I don’t get hyped for games anymore. I’m too old, I’ve seen too much and been disappointed too often. But did you just fucking seen that sheeeeeeeeeeeet!!!
At this point Remedy has my trust with these games.
At least when it comes to the single player games, I’m sure Firebreak was still cool but I didn’t really want to play that one since it was multiplayer focused.
Their single player story stuff though? I’m here for it always now. So long as Sam Lake is involved at least!
