JakenVeina, do games w Silksong announced for 2025 on the Nintendo Direct

Yeah, just like it was announced for 2023 in that one XBox showcase.

I’ll believe it when I’m playing it.

jacksilver, do games w What open-world games on Steam have satisfying movement, like Arkham Knight or Spider-Man?

Not sure if it counts as open world, but a souls-like platformer with some great movement is Blue Fire

AllTheKarma, do games w Thoughts on Mario Kart World

I personally can’t wait. I have an OLED and MK8D but just didn’t play it enough due to life getting in the way. This has me beyond excited to play it. It’ll be nice to get into a game with my fiance from the start especially because she plays basically only animal crossing.

Hazelnutcookiez, do games w Thoughts on Mario Kart World

I’m pretty excited for it I enjoy Mario Kart games,I don’t play/like any other type of racing games so being able to drive to the next course is new to me and looks kinda fun.

Mr_Vortex, do gaming w [Enter the Gungeon 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2339840/Enter_the_Gungeon_2/)

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I really hate the new art style. Everything looks like plastic and has absolutely zero charm. It was totally possible for them to bring the same style and character of the original to 3D, but instead they chose to abandon it.

Also, I’m not sure what benefits going 3D has anyway. In the teaser it looked like a fixed camera, so what’s the point of 3D if it doesn’t change up the core gameplay?

Aielman15, do games w What open-world games on Steam have satisfying movement, like Arkham Knight or Spider-Man?
@Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

Dying Light had a mediocre story and repetitive gameplay, but the parkour mechanic was what made it interesting in the long run. Jumping around and climbing stuff was so satisfying.

As for side scrollers, Ori might not be the most difficult platformer I’ve ever played, but it certainly was the most fun, thanks in no short part to the fluid and dynamic movement of the main character. The camera is also very wide, to allow you to see the road ahead clearly, which is not something that all platformers do right, surprisingly enough.

TORFdot0, do games w Thoughts on Mario Kart World

The price is too high. They are going to sell skins and characters. The game is going to be fluffed with open world sections instead of actual content. I probably won’t enjoy it.

My kids will though

Surp, do games w GOG seems to be considering paid membership option

Making porting gog to linux a priority which has by far the smallest market share for computer gaming is the dumbest thing anyone in this thread is saying, where is that financially a viable option to cater to the tiniest percentage of gamers for gog? I know ill get downvoted but im tired of the fanatical linux posts on lemmy at this point. Get with reality they are going to work on the client where the money is most predominantly flowing from and its not linux or mac. Haters gonna hate the truth but its the truth from a business standpoint.

JustARaccoon,

While I agree, it’s also a chicken and egg problem. How can more money flow if they don’t make it easy? Even just endorsing Heroic and providing them some APIs would work

Adalast,

This is a future proofing measure. With the enshittification of Windows there is a reasonably sizable share that is looking to migrate. Making an API/front end functional on the platform is just good business. I for one will be switching 95% to Linux the instant Microsoft acts on their patant for putting a mandatory advertising ticket on the screen. Literally the only thing I will use it for is programming things for work.

DigDoug,

and its not linux or mac

Except there’s already a Mac version of GOG Galaxy.

octoblade,

With the Steam Deck getting more popular and more SteamOS handhelds on the way, it has never been a better time for game companies to support Linux. GOG does already sell some games that have Linux support, they just don’t have a convenient way to download and install them.

GOG galaxy appears to use CEF and Qt, as well as some parts (such as plugins) that use python. All of those are cross platform. So I doubt it would be incredibly difficult to port to Linux. The fact that there is already a macOS version indicates that it can be made cross platform and can run on Unix-based systems.

blind3rdeye,

Making porting gog to linux a priority which has by far the smallest market share for computer gaming is the dumbest thing anyone in this thread is saying

Building a bridge across the river is totally stupid, because no one crosses that river to get to where they are going.

Building a house on that hill is dumb, because no one lives there.

Creating that new type of device is a waste of time, because no one has ever bought one like that.

You see the point, right? Not that I’m trying to give business advice. I’m just saying that these things aren’t necessarily as stupid as you seem to think.

zalgotext,

What if most of the people that want to pay a GOG membership are Linux gamers that would be willing to pay for official Linux support?

PushButton,

Or, you know, they could make the client portable, like so many software…

A Linux or Mac client doesn’t need to be a different thing than a Windows client.

Contemporarium,

Lmao you have people seizing it’s hilarious

Zanshi,

And yet, it’s the three most upvoted community requests on gog

SolarPunker, (edited ) do games w Thoughts on Mario Kart World

It seems cute but Sonic Racing Crosswolds seems so much better!

HobbitFoot, (edited ) do games w Thoughts on Mario Kart World

Looks like they had to do something different than Mario Kart 8 and they did. The game looks interesting.

It isn’t interesting enough to buy, but then I figured I might sit this generation out.

insomniac_lemon, do gaming w [Enter the Gungeon 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2339840/Enter_the_Gungeon_2/)

I stopped playing it particularly because of the 1st-floor experience with items/loot (and active items in general).

Then again, these sort of problems for me seem to run through games (especially roguelikes) often.

smeg,

What about the first floor didn’t you like?

neon_nova,

I don’t really understand. Can you elaborate?

insomniac_lemon, (edited )

It’s not guaranteed to get anything of value before you hit the boss. There aren’t many chests, active items are often highly situational and you may be forced to abandon it. This may be expected/intended and I may even be able to beat the boss anyway, but it’s more tedious.

Very likely that keys and blanks (both multi-functional), more chests, or money don’t drop enough. This already means waiting on making some choices until after the floor is mostly cleared (despite this not being the best/easiest option for survival) especially when it comes to the alternate path.

Also @smeg

smeg,

Fair to not like that, I just assumed it was a deliberate part of the “this game is very hard” design

neon_nova,

Gotcha, I guess I enjoy that a bit. They have a rainbow chest mode. Have you tried that?

Each floor gives you one chest in the starting room and when you opened it, you can choose 1 of 12 items and is guaranteed to be a great item.

insomniac_lemon, (edited )

I think so, but that’s also has massive tradeoffs on its own. If I did that, it was probably mostly Robot w/Ser Junkan runs.

I probably would prefer a mod that makes active items only show up in shops (or perhaps chosen selection/loot-table at the start or per-character). Also: have the RR leave junk when taking some items (not ammo).

I do see one mod (Justice) to alter spawning which would probably help a bit (depending on the character, still not perfect early on). Plus I have other games to be bad at, some of them free (and slightly less frustrating).

hernanca,

I think that’s part of the game, it trains you by making sure you can clear the first levels even if your items are bad or you had bad RNG.

After a while I was able to consistently clear the entire first floor with just my starting revolver (Huntress). Maybe with the Marine it will be easier.

That being said, it can take a long time for this so if you don’t play very often it is definitely frustrating.

Prototype was my jam back in the day, since I had Xbox and not a PS3 and couldn’t play Infamous.

Having played Infamous finally on PS5… Prototype is actually better anyway and it’s insane how it was overshadowed by Infamous to begin with.

Maldreamer,

Ahh good old times, jumping from building to building like hulk. It had good story too which I didn’t appreciate the first time I played cause I was young and couldn’t understand it fully.

maybe not quite what you’re looking for but the shadow of mordor series has a liiiitle bit of that. obviously not as city-focused as arkham or spider-man.

TwoBeeSan,

Your character becomes a double jumping revenge ghost sprinting through the environment pretty early in the second one.

Good suggestion.
