Your Steam account is tied to backed up cloud saves. I wouldn’t just give away the account to a complete stranger. Also Steam’s EULA forbids it, so any problem might lead to the account being closed.

I would only give my account to trusted people.

I played TF2 since beta. I’ve played competitive (nothing major, just etf2l div 3) and been to a couple of lans. I have about 3000 hrs logged.

My mains are demo, soldier and scout. Heavy and spy I rarely play. I still hop on every now and then, on a community server that’s still going strong.

Too risky regarding personal info you might’ve overlooked IMO, maybe give it to a friend instead

And obviously it‘s against the ToS and might get the account banned but I assume you know that

Be careful and double / triple check on help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata what information is stored on your account, especially chats, payment information, purchases, subscriptions and so on. But I agree regarding TOS if they ever find out the account will be locked most likely.

This is done all the time to sell games that aren’t available as CD keys, against TOS.

The seller usually gives you a login to a webmail they control, and the account is tied to that email. You can then change the email on the account and you have access to the original email to confirm the move.

Double triple check everything and let a friend try to dig around… Befor posting your Infos make a post and chose a random comment or so. This way you can verify it’s not a bot

Not sure about all the personal stuff, but it is against the TOS to transfer the account.

Big answer is I DONT KNOW, but…

For payment/address stuff you could change them then try to revert to see if it works. For payment get a $5 gift card from Wal-Mart and set that as the credit card.

KISSmyOSFeddit,

I know accounts aren’t transferrable, but what are they gonna do? Ban me after I left their service? Ban the account? That wouldn’t be worse than just letting it sit unused.

Redredme,

On places likw g2a.com steam accounts are sold all the time.

The worse they can do is ban the account. Just give it away if you want.

slazer2au, do games w Is it possible to safely "give away" a Steam account to a stranger?

According to the TOS, no steam accounts are not transferable.

Check your purchases page to see if there is any pii there as that is what steam uses for account recovery.

Megaman_EXE, do gaming w Why are arcade cabinets so expensive?

First to answer your question. Gosh man…I feel like everything is insanely expensive now. Food entertainment, resources, everything. It’s brutal. I went to a local used game shop and prices have not recovered since 2020. Some games are stupidly overpriced now.

Oh, I’ve seen this cabinet in person! It’s much smaller than I expected and would be kind of awkward to actually use. I’m 6 foot, and I would have to look down at it to use it.

It’s cool, though. The artwork is really neat.

I think if I was going to get a cabinet, there were only two ways I would want to go about it.

  1. I would probably make my own and spend a heck of a lot of time and money on it. It would be a pain to do, but the end product would be something that fits my tastes and works perfectly. Those cabinets that are essentially just big emulators seem to make the most sense to build imo.
  2. acquiring a DDR machine. I have no idea if you can even build those. I mean, I guess you could, but those would probably be expensive as heck.

I built a custom GBA a while back and I think when it was said and done I spent around $300+ CAD on it? It was more expensive than it needed to be, but it was a fun project to try. I taught myself how to solder too, which was fun.

sleepybisexual,

Yea. All retro games here are overpriced. I’ve seen bad condition gameboys go for about 100 euro

deegeese, do gaming w Why are arcade cabinets so expensive?

If a new video game console is $500, a full size piece of furniture with custom art and a video console inside it sounds like a bargain for $600.

sleepybisexual,

Not sure if that’s a good parallel.

The hardware in a console and a cabinet are very different

BorgDrone,

Yeah, the hardware in a console is mass produced, the hardware in an arcade cabinet is made in relatively small batches. Mass producing something is always a lot cheaper per unit due to economies of scale.

erwan,

The hardware in an arcade cabinet is either a raspberry pi or a regular desktop PC.

BorgDrone,

In a MAME machine maybe, but the original arcade cabinets all have custom hardware.

DdCno1,

Not all of them. In recent years, virtually all arcades have been powered by standard gaming PCs (see for example the infamous Half-Life 2 arcade). In the past, it wasn’t unheard of for some arcades to have nearly identical hardware compared to home consoles. The Neo Geo arcade for example is running the exact same code as the home console (although in this case, the arcade came first). There have also been edge-cases, like the Namco System 11, which is using only slightly modified PS1 hardware (primarily in the sound department) in order to drive down costs.

Depends on when it was made. A modern, multi-game cabinet could run entirely on a Raspberry Pi and cost far less to build than a console.

Haven’t played in a bit, but for sure my forever GOAT as far as total hours of fun had.

I love the Demoman! His grenade launcher is especially fun — the feeling of hitting 2-3 clean pipes in a row is unrivalled in my mind.

I own a couple actual vintage arcade machines and paid less for them than this. If you shop around you can find deals.

I also have one of these 1up cabs and it is definitely not like vintage. Software may be the same but it is using a modern monitor not a CRT. I think I paid around 300 for it several years ago. Not full size.

simple, do games w What are some excellent free games/total conversions that are worth playing the whole thing?

If you haven’t already played it, DOOM: The Golden Souls is probably the best total conversion you can find. Just S tier all around. Adventures of Square is also pretty good despite looking a bit simple.

If you’re looking for free games in general, might I recommend Megaman Maker? There’s an absolutely insane amount of content, and the level editor itself is very fun to use.

Came to say golden souls as well. Just started recently and it’s impressive and fun as hell. There is also a 2 released and recently announced working on 3 I believe.

Jarlsburg, do games w What are some excellent free games/total conversions that are worth playing the whole thing?

I recently found out about the Zelda: Link to the Past randomizer community. Essentially there is a method to modify the original game to randomize the item locations and other aspects of the game while ensuring the game can be completed. Each game has a seed so you can look it up if you get to stuck. I played through it once and it was a really interesting challenge since I didn’t get the bow until 60% of the way through the game.
