Link to the Past is how I discovered Zelda.

Never got to play it through as a kid, but then we got OOT when N64 came out. There’s never gonna be a game I’ll have better memories from.

I’ve sunk more time into TotK than any of the others. I have nostalgia for OoT, TWW and TP, but their gameplay don’t hold up to BotW or TotK if you take off the nostalgia glasses.

Might replay BotW at some point.

Probably a Link to the Past. Although I’ve only played the games in the series up to Link’s Awakening so that might change although the game would have to be pretty damn good

SidewaysHighways,

Wait so no ocarina?

TORFdot0,

Its next on my list!

bjoern_tantau, do games w How do you play classic Mortal Kombat?
@bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de avatar

When I was a kid I was on holiday with my parents in Spain. Since Mortal Kombat was verboten in Germany I went to every shop that might have SNES games to find it. I think I was finally able to find Mortal Kombat 3 in Andorra. And it was glorious!

Nowadays I just emulate on my PC or Steam Deck.

I love them all. But Majora’s Mask and Ocarina of Time will always live in my heart. As well as the original, I beat that one yearly.

essteeyou, do astronomy w After 30 years, I'm finally going to see a total solar eclipse. Also, Potato World is a thing.

I hope it lives up to expectations!

I drove 2200 miles for this solar eclipse. I booked a place here in Dallas last year, and now it seems like it’s going to be cloudy with rain and thunder. :-/

I convinced my dad to fly over and join the road trip.

At least we got to see some incredible stuff on the way! Maybe there will be a break in the clouds…

suchwin,

I was in the same boat, 2000+ mile drive. NE Texas isn’t looking too bad right now! But if you’re up to it, drive up to Arkansas. I did that today from Austin-ish. Clouds up here are looking much more optimistic!

essteeyou,

I just unpacked, and there’s no way I can take another day in the car! :-D

It’s my birthday tomorrow, so I’m hoping to just take it easy.

SaintWacko,

I debated packing up my stuff and driving a couple hours to Mena, but I’m not sure the weather is going to be any better there…

Kichae,

I’ve heard that it’s still a surreal experience even when overcast. Though, that’s what I had to believe to actually book the hotel room and days off work as somene living on the north-atlantic coast.

CheesyGordita,

I was able to see the one back in 2017 smack dab in the middle of the path of totality and it was such a surreal otherworldly experience. No amount of trying to explain it to other people helped them really understand. Things look a weird way and there’s a very unique feel to it all.

My advice, get things set up, get your shots, start your recordings, but don’t forget to take 30seconds or so and just soak it in and be in the moment!

Enjoy! I’m super excited for you!

Seasons and Ages. They were my childhood.

It’s cool to hear someone say their favorite is TP. I always felt like it was OOT on steroids. Which in my opinion is a good thing. I wish TP had gotten more than an HD port of the original. Would love to see that get a facelift for the Switch with higher polygon count and his res textures.

Until Breath of the Wild it was Ocarina of Time (I’m so original, I know /s), then BotW, and now Tears of the Kingdom improved on BotW in just about every conceivable way. I’m not much of a big completion type of gamer, despite really enjoying BotW I didn’t go for every shrine, but I definitely made the time and effort to do that in TotK. The only aspect of it I didn’t care for was that I didn’t really like going into the Depths and largely stayed above ground as much as I could (and screw Gloom Hands). Makes me excited to see where the series will go next.

Majora’s Mask is the best Zelda game. However, Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game. The setting, art style, and musical score all combined perfectly to make a game that was both really fun and relaxing. No Zelda game since has ever matched the feeling of sailing to the Great Sea soundtrack.

My favourite is Link's awakening, but there are a lot of great games in the franchise.

Ouff, this is difficult.

To me it’s a very close call between:

  • Majora’s Mask (atmosphere, inventiveness with the loop, boss battles)
  • Link’s Awakening (first self-owned game, lots of memories, also that nerve-wrecking final battle with forms after forms after forms)
  • Tears of the Kingdom (the way they hid the third world until release, the grand atmosphere, the whole thing around the Master Sword)

Majora’s Mask probably wins. But it’s a really close call.

tobogganablaze, do games w Legend of Zelda

Probably OoT followed by MM. At least those are the ones I spent the most time on.

But I also really enjoyed all the NES and GBC games. Especially Oracle of Ages/Seasons were amazing.

Haven’t played anything newer I’m afraid.

WarioWare is very easy to binge :b

I have hung up the cape on Helldivers 2 for now, each patch makes the game more and more unstable. It’s to the point where I rarely make it two missions without crashing, losing progress each time has pretty sucked all the fun out of the game.

The timing is good, though, I snagged a spot in the Once Human beta test and have been really enjoying it. Surprisingly fun with interesting building, crafting, and exploration mechanics. Definitely a time sink though ^^;
