Sirus, do games w Switch 2 preorders [in the US] delayed over Trump tariff uncertainty

Good, for all those zoomers that voted for trump, eat a dirty asshole you fucks.

Lost_My_Mind,

As opposed to millenials, gen X and boomers who voted for trump? Why do they get a free pass?

Sirus,

A majority of them aren’t playing switch. Not saying none of them are but the highest majority of switch players in those groups are zoomers.

I’m so glad that the prices were revealed right before the tariff announcement.

So now… they either stick to that and suck it up or they will increase them and show more people what these tariffs are doing.

pennomi,

Agreed, this will anger young people, who need to be shaken awake to let them know that politics isn’t a fucking game. Conservatism and authoritarianism is poison, they just didn’t understand that yet.

Railcar8095,

“The Nintendo switch revolution” wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card, but I’ll take it.

Print out stickers of Trump pointing to the price with a speech bubble saying, “I did that.”

billiam0202,

Which is somehow still less ridiculous than tariffs on penguins.

Please Nintendo use the switch 2 price to help us ouster our fascist

SaharaMaleikuhm,

This specifically is so funny to me. It wasn’t intentional, but damn was it good timing.

billwashere,

I actually kinda think it was intentional. Any business savvy person knew these tariffs were coming and that they would be disruptive especially to something like the Switch 2.

IndustryStandard,

Nintendo games went from 60 to 90 dollars. They put tariffs on everyone.

So we're back to the 80s. Now, can the US market pick itself back up?

lowleveldata, do games w Switch 2 preorders [in the US] delayed over Trump tariff uncertainty

Great news to the people who were complaining about the price as they can complain more about the further adjusted price due to the tariff

coyootje, do games w Switch 2 preorders [in the US] delayed over Trump tariff uncertainty

It’s gonna be interesting to see how this pans out, there’s a good chance the console and games will be VERY expensive in the US by the time they come out if Japan and the US get into a tariff - counter tariff spat.

Ah, fuck Nintendo anyway.

Gobble it up, by all means.

gmtom,

Enjoy your worse steamdeck with $90 games

Bonesince1997,

This is an article about tariffs. They will affect many products in the United States and many companies, not just Nintendo, will have to respond. But by all means, let it be just another moment for haters like you all to show that’s all you got. Any moment to say fuck Nintendo, even when it has nothing to do with them.

bassomitron,

I mean, I think Nintendo is a shitty, awful, greedy corporation, but this is just the tip of the iceberg for how tariffs will effect consumers. It’s bad for the economy and the GOP are a bunch of fucking morons for letting their prophet get to this stage.

And yes, I know all the chums will pipe in that their strategy is for all the billionaires to swoop in and buy up everything cheaply. But that’s very short sighted, as this type of bullshit is causing long-term damage to the US’s soft power and influence. Our allies and trading partners are literally forging new agreements without us, meaning even once the tariffs are over, things are not just going to magically go back to normal, if they ever even do.

MellowYellow13,

Fuck the GOP

Just like their prices, Nintendo will never change.

Arrrr!

I buy pretty much every console there is, but I’ll pass here. Maybe there will be a price-cut OLED model and a new “Best of Switch 2” Series of games with cut prices (like on GameCube or Wii). Also I want to wait and see if the Joy-Cons 2 get drifting issues.

Gaming market as a whole seems to be going through a correction of sort and this is the time when Nintendo decides to raise the price? Good luck with that Nintendo.

I along with just about everyone here probably has a massive back catalogue of games on Steam to ride out whatever is currently happening in the gaming industry. Maybe I’ll just chill over by the corner and watch the gaming market craters itself into the ground.

I’m the dude in that meme looking at the other girl, and she is my icon collections in Steam, GOG, even Epic, etc. Icons with native Linux versions get slight preference.

I look forward to playing these for free in a year or two when an emulator that works on the Steam Deck is released.

NastyNative,
@NastyNative@mander.xyz avatar

4 real when Zelda was released on the switch is ran at like 1080p 30 fps. The emulator version was 4k @ 60 fps…

NuXCOM_90Percent,

The reason the switch 1 was emulated so fast was a hardware vulnerability on nvidia’s part. Presumably we won’t see that again.

Also: While switch games DO run better on a steam deck, they don’t run great. And I think estimates put the switch 2 at closer to a PS4 than PS3 in terms of power? But even PS3/360 games don’t run gerat on a Steam Deck.

Not to mention nintendo’s lawyers putting the fear of mario into the emulation community.

So in a few years? I could see MAYBE some proof of concepts. But I doubt we’ll actually be able to properly emulate switch 2 games until at least 2030.

_cryptagion,

Well, then I look forward to playing games for this retro console for free in six years when an emulator drops for the Steam Deck 2.

I never ever saw the point of paying premium for re-released games. Those are the kind of games where I will wait almost any time for them to drop so it is a favorable price. And with the specs of the Switch 2, the price points being asked of from those games, do no warrant it. They are best played on other platforms.
