lemann,

From GoG specifically, as they patch the older games on their store to “just run” on modern Windows

lemann,

Only Empress left now I think, the other one who cracked sports games called it quits, or so i’ve heard

lemann,

Seems pretty neat I guess, but not for me… personally prefer to support actual voice actors making a living, putting passion into their work - not some random C suite or shareholder using AI to cut costs

lemann,

Wouldn’t be surprised.

Partner found out about the unity crap when a bunch of steam library games published updates about changes in development, at least one of which stated they’re transitioning from free to paid

How would someone, hypothetically, pirate Baldur's Gate 3 without being able to torrent? angielski

I am interested in how pirates on the internet (which i am not) would get there hands on the files to a game, just, for example, Baldur’s Gate 3, without torrenting? Now, I have heard tell of a place where these nefarious no-gooders would do this, for example gog-games.to. But, once they have acquired the file, what steps to...

Not today CIA 👋

lemann,

Since Intel has now discontinued their flagship arc card not even a year after release

Whaaaat? That’s disappointing ☹️ I was hoping finally there’d be some more competition

lemann,

Ohh, thank you for the clarification!

lemann,

The majority of their investors are record labels now, so there’s also an incentive to prevent competing streamers from taking Spotify’s position

lemann,

I’ll just stick to 🏴‍☠️ old games with DRM, why should I give a company 🤑 for redistributing a cracker’s hard work?

lemann,

It’s a complete crapshow IMO.

I still have the source code for the simple stuff I developed over 12 years ago, but these organisations don’t think it’s important to hang on to source code and assets for something they plan to make money from?

Really telling about the attitudes towards software outside of the FOSS space and datahoarder communities, and more importantly how little the management/publishers actually care about the product.

Although to counter that, I’m aware of at least one situation where the opposite has happened. One of my simulation games for example is really buggy and isn’t able to receive more updates because the studio behind it voluntarily disbanded, leaving the publisher without access to the source code (I believe the publisher Aerosoft has tried to get a copy of the source to provide further game fixes, but the individuals behind the disbanded studio could not come to an agreement on this)

lemann,

I have a steam link box in the bedroom and another in the lounge - controllers just to connect to the link, and the link handles sending the button presses to the computer running the game.

The steam link app on the Shield would work in a similar way. I would suggest to use ethernet if you can, or even a powerline ethernet plug, for a smooth streaming experience

lemann,

My partner has anxiety and finds this really relaxing

Personally it’s not my cup of tea, give me a driving sim or strategy game and I’m sorted 🫠

lemann,

Update your VLC player if you haven’t already.

There is also a way to individually update just the extractor LUA script that VLC uses to play YT videos, but I haven’t messed with that in so long I’ve forgotten how to do it

lemann,

Admiral is the worst kind of anti adblock there is.

They buy thousands of domains at a time, with individually corresponding Google Cloud IPs to evade adblock lists. Real pain in the ass to block them, they also DMCA community blocklists containing their domains

lemann,

For animated content, 𝚗𝚢𝚊𝚊.𝚜𝚒 (as mentioned by @sbs1313)

For general Asian movies and stuff, 𝚊𝚟𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚣.𝚝𝚘, although since it’s a private tracker you’ll need to keep an eye out for open signups - they have a discord waitlist where you can get notified

These are both 🧲🌊🌊 and not u senet though.

lemann,

If devs implement this under the pretense of being a “lost sale” that’s just saddening… there is no pirate that will go and blow 300 bucks on a Switch and 100 bucks on a game just for the ability to play it on a specific piece of hardware.

IMO this only hurts legitimate customers as DRM usually does, such as those with a switch + game already, and want to play it on their Steam Deck

lemann,

more like a streaming service you populate yourself.

The most concise description of Plex/Jellyfin that I’ve seen

lemann,

Watch Dogs and AC feel eerily similar, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are just swapping out assets, a map, and a standardised game story file format at this point.

IMO their game engine, formula and approach to franchises need to change drastically, if they truly want to demonstrate a fresh start to the public. Anything short of all three is going to feel like a half baked Ubisoft Special, regardless of how talented their writers may be

Anonfiles is shutting down (anonfiles.com) angielski

After trying endlessly for two years to run a file sharing site with user anonymity we have been tired of handling the extreme volumes of people abusing it and the headaches it has created for us. Maybe it is hard to understand but after tens of million uploads and many petabytes later all work of handling abuse was automated...

lemann,

Paradox has been very welcoming of modders in CS1, I see no reason why someone wouldn’t be able to make a mod for a socialist-inspired ideology in CS2, although that would be a biggg undertaking

lemann,

For me, CS1 shows how difficult it is to build effective roads. I solved traffic on my map with an extensive, fast and direct public transit network, and well-connected bike paths along the same alignment for those who don’t want to pay. For roads specifically, timed&sensor traffic lights (TMPE mod) and one way systems in built up areas work well too from what I’ve seen.

I am a little scared of the extra management they’ve popped in to CS2 but I’m hopeful they’ll get the balance right

lemann,

IIRC this exists in CS2, believe it was mentioned in a teaser video on their YT
